  • O Circo para mim é também cultura, mas aqui o que se tem é um Ballet sincronizado com a melodia e excelente execução. Malagueña é até mais bonita desse jeito.ARTE É ARTE. VALEU1

    Magdala

  • um this is all the dci guys who aged out

  • This is BLAST! not a Drum Corps International. Yes they play the same instruments, but not a field show...

  • This isn't DCI....

  • Como circo vale. NADA MAS

  • 3:34...solid double G

  • is that adam rapa?

  • @krazyfatboy no

  • 19 people play woodwinds....

  • Awesome song! !:)

  • Imagine my surprise when I learned from my sister, Michelle, that BLAST was a theatrical production using a version of MALAGUENA very similar to the one we used in hight school when marching with the ROYAL JADES, Hudson MA! God bless the merry of Albert, RIP!

  • THEY"RE COMING TO SHREVEPORT IN NOVEMBER!!!! I can't wait to see them (if i don't deploy -_-)

  • why cant ppl just enjoy a show

  • Just give DCI a few more years and it will be just like this, sadly.

  • @magikkmann what do you mean?...

  • @magikkmann and your problem with excellent musicianship and execution is...?

  • we played this song one year for a sight reading for the marching show the next year but we couldn't sight read it well so we didn't play it in our show but i think the tom player is sexy

  • this brings me back to memories in marching band we sued to watch it all the time

  • 18 stupids wich doesn't like something AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Like this if you think WGI should have an indoor theater division

  • @TheAlexszabo92 ... isn't that essentially the point of WGI already?

  • @19saxman91 I meant like indoor brass line..... I'm tired of not having anything to do in winter

  • @TheAlexszabo92 Do what I do, march an independent line.

  • @19saxman91 and perform where.....

  • @TheAlexszabo92 Rhythm X, MCM, Palmetto, Redline, Pulse, RCC, Odyssey, TJC... there's a bunch

  • @19saxman91 thats drumline..... i cannot drum, nor dance so don't even get me started...... the whole premise of the post was to have a blast like division of WGI, or just indoor hornline

  • lol you can always tell who marched as cavi by looking at there marching technique

  • these guys rape my speakers everytime

  • @MyBonerIsHuge Adding gay guys to the colorguard is like giving steroids to the football team.

  • Crazy timpani players and ridiculously gay colorguard for the win :D

  • woooooooo go dci woodwind band corps! <(

  • @b1324 ??? "DCI woodwind band corps"??? that doesnt even make sense

  • Blast - "corps" for the age-outs

  • @iguessimoscar This and DCA lol

  • Amazing!!!

  • that first big hit just about knocked me out of my chair xD!

  • Does anyone know if BLAST! is still touring? I would LOVE to see them again ...

  • Ok let's get this straight it's DCI corps for one and another is that DCI corps march in the finest stadiums, something that "Blast" would never ever come close to doing.

  • Saw them in Columbia, SC. Fabulous!!!

  • Oh, how I wish to be in a production of Blast!, or something similar to it, someday. (And THAT is some circular breathing. O.o)

  • Gracieux et élégant !

  • Beautiful flow with the sabre! T.T So beautiful!

    Luv the swing flags! <3

    Oh so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a dci band? haha thats classic

  • If THATdoesn't MOVE you, you're DEAD!

  • Are you Freakin Kidding Me???? THAT is completely insane!!!!

  • Wow. Fantastic job.

  • que espectaculo

  • is there an age limit for this group

  • 5:51 to 6:10 sounds just like cadets 2003

  • I'm sorry...did you say dci BAND?

  • @trebuchet42

OMG DCI BAND!!! Only a true drum corps person would call this person out!!

  • @PauletteBoston

    This is true.

  • i've always wondered do they have drill charts for the show? cause i've seen the whole show once i think and it was well over an hour long. how much time do you think this takes?

  • now thats what you call circular breathing

  • ive marched corps before, i feel bad for the people in the front row, walk out all deaf

  • Apparently, my old high school is putting together a Blast! inspired production. I'm on staff and the flugel soloist from this video is helping us out! I'm so excited to meet him!

  • he hold's it for 45 sec fucking amazing

  • @mrouwh are 50 sec, really amazing

  • @mrouwh its called circular breathing

  • @AdamWhitacre dont give a shit about how it's called it is just fucking cool, almost no one can do that:P

  • @AdamWhitacre i am not an idiot.... am marching dci for 2 years now, and marched showband for 5 so i now what circular breathing is hahaha, what a fool!!

  • @mrouwh Circle Breathing.

  • No matter how many times i watch this video, the show always highly amazes me..

  • nice circular breathing by the flugel horn player

  • cooool, thats long to hold. its hard for me to do 16 seconds and he can hold about 20-25 sec. amazing

  • 3:12-3:20 is amazingly cool

  • the rifle tricks starting at 5:15 are really fricking amazing and sick.

  • Comment removed

  • Goose bumps. Every time.

  • This joint is vicious!!! I can't wait to play this one....

  • EU SOU DO BRASIL MUSICA BOA!

  • This contrived theatrical performance is a poor substitute for the competition videos that DCi took off of Youtube.

  • Why did they take them off? You would think they would want the exposure!!!

  • Not at all...you can't just transplant a field performance whole cloth to a far smaller venue. There are enough elements of 88 Madison (my fave version) to make this more than worthwhile.

The guard work is awsome...more subtle in some places than it would be on a football field, but this venue is closer and those sublteties can be picked up better.

  • Drum Corps Rules!!

  • Still gives me chills every time they play ffff.

  • I second this comment ._.

  • ZOMFG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can I get the arrangement of malaguna?

  • Awesome, breathtaking....*faints*

  • 5:11

    awesome horn flash!

  • haha! i LOVE how the timpany player losses his malet at the very end!!!! HAHA!!!

  • Circular breathing at it's best. 1:06 - 1:56 Wow.

  • the cadets have nothing on this

  • Malaguena is so fucking beast!! i love this song!!

  • I've seen this show live before and the entire show was incredible!!

  • They got this music from the Stan Kenton Big Band..similar arrangement.

  • @bbbiggs Most arrangements are similar to Stan Kenton's, considering that arrangement was pretty close to the original piece (as far as I know). Either that or it just goes to show how influential the guy was on the world of music.

  • brazillllllll!!!!!!!! cara ta muito louco parabênssss porra!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS

  • at 5:20-5:26 awesome colourguards..

  • I love these trumpets!!!

  • 5:47 until pretty much the end....one of the greatest trumpet parts ive ever heard!!!!!!

  • oh my god. my marching band is doing this show for this year.....it's guna be crazy.......

  • 10 years ago when they played they did learn on G's but had to play B flats as G's shook the theatre too muck as b flats have a sofdter sound

  • DCI is Drum Corps Interanational, the regulating organization for drum and bugle corps. Although Blast has its roots in drum and bugle corps, DCI has nothing to do with the Blast production

  • wnt to see live 10 years ago in london alexander theater sounded brill cant beet live performance

  • haha, marching band, hey this is DCI... this is pro,,,,,

  • even though this isn't DCI, this is Blast!, RayG68 is right..

  • 4:41 - la Fiesta Mexicana'ish (aztec dance)

BRAVO! finally a marching band that also makes real music!

  • this is DCI not marching band....

  • but they took the marching band concept of playing rather loudly, and still preserved musicianship- which is i think a marvelous achievement

  • correction- not playing loud, but more of the formations on stage and such..

  • if we REALLY wanna get technical, their marching Trombones, which temporarily suspends their being a Drum Corps. for all intelegent reason however, yes, they are most certainly a Drum Corps (hence, DCI)

  • it more of a broad way form to demonstrate wat its liek

  • This is DCI, nor is it marching band. It's Blast!, a completely separate entity from both. Though the roots of Blast! is drum corps, they are not under the Drum Corps International umbrella. And as far as playing loudly, drum corps have and will always be able to play louder than most marching bands. Marching bands march woodwinds, and besides saxophones woodwinds are not capable of playing as loud as a brass instruments.

  • i could be wrong but someone told me that blast originated off of star of indiana

  • You're correct.

  • yup yup thats where im from

  • indeed it did

  • lol arent you from snarescience?

  • uh yeah

  • Correct. From what I know, Star disbanded because there was a lot of pressure from other corps that they were "buying" their high placements because the corps director is a billionare. So they disbanded and formed Blast. I've been to the field in Bloomington where they used to rehearse. Star also has a busline called Star of America, and it's bus depot is there as well.

  • The corps director (Jim Mason) wasn't the billionaire...I'm not sure what official position Bill Cook (the billionaire) held with the corps....although he DID drive one of the busses...and when was the last time you saw anyone with those resources doing THAT?

As for the pressure...nope. Mason wanted to take the corps in a different direction (stage performances) than he could've done on the field in DCI. The contract with the Canadian Brass was signed well before 93 finals.

  • Oh ok. I knew vague parts of the story, but it's interesting nonetheless.

  • When might Blast go on tour again?

  • Obviously always awesome.

But I'd like to point out some VERY clean obliques.

  • Loved the energy.

  • 5:35 is Rhapsody in Blue... great solos!

  • I like the timp player's big jump at the very end. I love how they put facial and body expressions with great music!

  • :[ look at the description.... it says "by a dci band"...

    honestly thats offensive :/

  • I agree. lol. Personally, i march DCA, but it still is. we are not bands. WE ARE CORPS'!!

  • YAY circular breathing...love Blast!

  • I love how the trombone was intergrated into this production!

  • This is very very similar to Cadets 2003 Show, the guy playing the trumpet solo towards the end looks like one of the guys that played the trio in 03 with cadets.

  • what exactly is DCI blast though, is it open to any corps member, When i make (hope to) corps, something like this would be awesome.

  • aww. But I do plan to make the audition my bitch.

  • depends on how good you are!

  • Im good. I now can say that at least. I figure most people are too afraid to try out. Plus I play Tuba, and they aren't as many really good tuba players compared to mellophone, trumpet, and baritone.

  • yup yup true dat..

i used to play trumpet..but i play tenors and bass now.

  • its mainly for people who aged out of DCI(21 is the limit), if you're in DCI at the time I don't think they'll take you.

  • it's a separate audition to get into blast, it's not a part of DCI, long story. GO check out the audition requirements on their website if you're interested.

  • this was our hs show for

    05 :)

  • Go circular breathing Mr. Flugelhorn guy!

  • 5:12 I want to do that with my trumpet

  • @Greg51693 get a hair tie, and put it around your 3rd valve slide ring, and you 1st valve slide saddle. we do it all the time :)

  • That was amazing. Rifles are awesome.... :)

  • Very interesting to see what art forms are evolving from the traditional drum corps standards.

  • Yes start of did change things a whole lot I remember we would be out in the parking lot rehearsing and when Star came up everyone would stop to watch them rehearse they are truelt a sight to see

  • it's good but i'd like to see them perform outside

  • in the rain

  • They could probably do it in the snow in nothing but a swimsuit and sound amazing lol

  • esta poquisisisima madreee

  • I though Blast! was a broadway show.

  • what material are the flags made out of?

  • Come on! Stupid cameraman wouldn't show the trombone soloist!

  • Correction: First trombone soloist. My bad.

  • Everytime. Every single time I hear that crescendo at 2:16 I get chills. Fuckin' LOVE IT!!

  • Our technique director and drill writer were both in the Star, both have absolutely PERFECT technique.

  • o.m.g.

    FU(KING AMAZING!!!!

I had the honor of seeing them LIVE!

    It was mind blowing...

    wow.....

    effing amazing.

    Nothing beats seeing them live....

  • i love how he holds that f out FOREVER. lol such a beautiful piece. makes me tear everytime.

  • the best!!!

  • ... i think it's petty saying any DCI group sucks... the Scouts are amazing, Blue Devils are Amazing, Phantom, Cavies, SCV they are ALL amazing, we're talking about the top marching musicians in the world and to say any of them suck is just stupid, secondly, STOP PUTTING DCI ON THESE BLAST VIDEOS it really pisses people looking for DCI off, Blast is talented, but some people really are looking for DCI when they see search it

  • Sadly Blast is not a part of D.C.I. for so many reasons.

Star of Indiana and the school they own with its 3 lovely football fields sits mostly unused by drum and bugle corps, except for rare times like 2 weeks ago when the Bluecoast practiced there.

Blast is really cool, but ending the Star of Indiana and its important role in D.C.I. was not cool. Politics has no room in D.C.I. judging, so the show that changed drumcorps forever (Star 93) did not win and Star of Indiana was unwisely ended

  • Should have said Bluecoats

  • I doubt Star '93 changed drum corps forever. And while it is really too bad Star isn't around anymore - a real loss to a lot of people that should have had the opportunity, and to now homeless alumni - the decision to pull out of DCI was made before the '93 show.

  • Star 93 did change drum corps forever, and I was there, I witnessed many of Star of Indiana's shows in 1993.

Star changed forever how corps look visually, and the Bartok selection changed our activity sonically as well.

  • Man I love DCI!! Who needs a football field? GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!

    jb

  • we marched n played this music in high school

  • love the rifles simply amazing blast is just awesome all together

  • Haha at 2:19 you see the signature (of some groups) DCI "IneedmesomemorefuckingairandpowerNOW bend"

  • First, DCI is not band - it's drum and bugle corps...second, this is not a DCI group - Blast is its own entity, made up, in part, by a lot of drum corps vets and age outs. Regardless, the whole show is awesome

  • WOW!!!that's awesome...I love how they utilized the entire space including out in the audience!!!

  • Scouts do it so much better.

  • Are you kidding me?? There is no such thing as better.

  • scouts are gay but BLAST! does it better and so do cadets

  • Like I said. Scouts do it better.

  • no dude blast does it WAY better and with much more enthusiam

  • how can you say that blast is better? Dci and blast are both good for different reasons.

  • yeah i love them both but i just think that Blast does malaguena better than scouts

  • Yea. Scouts are better.

  • yeah thats why scouts won right!! no scouts suck
