  • Man,you sound great with your guitar? Was the guitar amplified or not?

  • @antonsavin72 Hi, and Thanks for the kind words!! I was using a Roland Cube 60 (with just a bit of grit in the settings, not much tho). Great Guitar, Great amp. I also have a Benedetto Bravo and a custom hand-made Goodsell, but this was an easy combination and it sounded great. Bill

  • great jazzy sound

  • Hi 2cor518 - Yes, that is a Django Reinhardt song called "Nuages". I love it and never get tired of playing it. This was recorded a few years ago, and I plan to put up a more recent version with my Benedetto Bravo! I like how this turned out more than the version I also have up with my Saga Gitane D250 M because this tone is better. So glad you liked it. And Thanks AGAIN to all those who have left me such wonderful words! Bill

  • That's a Diango Reinhart song isn't it?

  • i had one of these and part exed it for something else....i wish id kept it....

  • I'm really liking this guitar. I'm an intermediate player and a little on a budget. Would you recommend this guitar. Oh, and great Video! Love the jazzy tone!

  • @dugingers This is a great value. I paid 366 USD new w/no case. It is an Ibanez Artcore AF85VLS (VioLinStain). Standard everything, no replacements. All of my non-video MP3s were recorded with this and a Line 6 Pod w/ chip 2.2. ;-)

  • @bfulbright Very nice, whats the name of the song? Beautiful :D

  • You can also hear all my MP3 recordings on 'reverbnation dot cm slash billfulbright'

  • check out andreas oberg for gypsy guitar pearls

  • i have this exact guitar, but i got it used and wanted to know if you have any information on it regarding its build and any changes to make. really all i know is that it has humbuckers hah. im lovin it though. thanks

  • hope you rated it as such! thank you for leaving your passionate response!!!

  • fucking awesome

  • Nice feel and vibrato - and beautiful guitar, BTW - who the hell says there's no place for finger vibrato in jazz guitar? Well done. The birvatto - ops - vibrato, you can apply it even to whole chords like that D7-9, it may seem a little hard in the beginning, but it's a great effect. Cheers, mate, from Lisbon

  • Thanks for the observations! I like putting vibrato on the chords.. I just think it brings them alive a bit more. Hope to visit Lisbon one day... I hear it is beautiful.

  • Hi , i heard both of your versions...this one (for me)seems to be more familiar to you...very nice!!!

    Best wishes, Frank

  • Me too! Thanks!

  • Excellent!

And your strap is just outstanding ...!!!

  • Royalista05 - Thank you ... I still play it pretty much the same... it is a very clean arrangement... and about the strap... it helps me play better!

  • nice work buddy! 5*s

  • Thanks! I appreciate your appreciation! This has been a fun tune to have posted.

  • mmmhh.... beautiful song!! and beautiful sound!!!

    I like that..

  • Thanks, Defma!

  • .. it is a pleasure to see this tune played in "F" with chord voicings that sound right. I can also see very clearly what you are doing, which helps, given that there are so many abortive versions out there. Thanks Bill. I love the gypsy acoustic sound, but I prefer your electric version on this one. Regards.

  • Thanks for stopping by to check it out... I like the electric version better too. I am so glad you liked it. I was going for a real fluid and impressionistic sound.

  • Thank you very much for coming back for repeated visits. It is the greatest complement!

  • bfulbright

    Thanks for playing that

  • For half a year now, I keep coming back to your version on YouTube. I like the sound of your recording, with an exceptionally good balance between the electric and acoustic sound of your guitar (I have the same guitar BTW) and I like the directness of your tone. Maybe the melody needs a bit more flow or 'groove', but that's all there is to desire. Kudos to you!

  • what's your amp ? is that guitar as good unplugged as it seems to be when plugged ?

  • Really chill, I loved that! I just reserved that guitar, I can't wait.

  • sounds good what kind of chords you use because i can't see it excectly

  • Been trying to learn this for years and now ive got it thanks to your rendition ,cheers

  • can you tell me where can i find the tabs,i think this is the best version

  • is this your own version

  • It is a transcription/tab that I found some years ago.

  • Very clear and beautiful sound!!

    Great.

  • Bill,

Nice job. Django would be proud.

  • beautiful playing style

  • Thank you very much!

  • Are you using the stock pickups for this video? nice playing btw

  • Thanks, glad you liked it.

Yes... all stock. No replacements. I was playing through a Roland Cube 60, using the Dynamic Amp Setting w/ just a touch of grit.

  • great tone mang! what's your amp?

  • Roland Cube 60

  • nice playin what song is it

  • Nuages - by Django Reinhardt

    Nuages in French means "clouds".

  • nice playin what song is it

  • Nice playing. I'm looking into picking up an Ibanez jazz guitar.

  • Thanks!! It is a great guitar. Best money I ever spent on a jazz box! Sounds great live or recorded, plays like butter... I don't really care what is on the headstock... Just so happens that Ibanez really nailed it with this design and the Artcore series. You won't be sorry. And if it gets lost, stolen or trashed, you can get another one without alot of heartache.

  • Thanks for all the feedback on the guitar. About how much is your model going for retail?

  • +/- $400 USD

  • Nice price!

  • Yeah, you can get another after Crying a lot.

  • Very nice. I like it lot!

  • i just bought that :D

  • it looks like a les paul

  • Hello Bill, What did you use to record this? what amp and how did you pick up the sound? thanks a lot for this great sounding song, both sound-wise and music-wise.

  • Hi,

First of all thanks for stopping by. Glad you took a listen!

    I used an Artcore AF85VLS - I either used a Roland Cube 60 or a Pod 2.2.

I used a Sony TRV330 Hi8Digital video camera, and probably put the Recording output from the amp directly into the audio input on the camera, or else I just let the stereo mics on the camera pick up the sound.

    Thanks for asking!

    Bill

  • Awesome! Do you use any special strings? What settings onthe guitar do you use?

  • I use flatwound 12's.

I used the neck pickup with about 1/2 the tone rolled back - Volume set on about 8.

The Roland Cube 60 amp was likely on the "Lead" setting with the gain around 1:45/2:00 and the "Volume" set to around 10 or 10:30

Thanks for your comments, and asking!

  • Flat out awesome and so enjoyable to watch. I'm becoming a big fan. Do you have tabs for this song?

    Thanks again!

  • I have an AF 85 also.....a great deal on a nice "player." Good job.

  • buen tema felicidades!!

  • This was very comfortable to watch and hear!

  • That is a most high compliment. Music when performed should be comfortable. It should look and sound effortless. I believe one should be at home with the tune and truly own it to play it from the heart.

  • Very good stuff! Very well done melodically, love the artcore!

  • Thanks so much!

  • good stuff.... you and Goodson should do a joint venture!

    very tastefully done!

  • very cool ..love your stuff!

  • I had a AF95 VLS last month. There was an annoying undiscoverable rattle, and I had to schlep it back to the shop twice, the second time insisting on an alternative. I got a AS103 NT, which is fun to play. I think my neighbours may not appreciate my hours of noodling, etc, but it does play beautifully. Won't feedback like a AF model, though.

  • Sounds really good! I love jazz and Artcores are a good guitar to play jazz on. You are very talented. good job!

  • Thanks so much for stopping by. Glad you liked it!

  • I heard once in my life that jazz guitarists use flat 12 gauge strings. is that so???

  • Well, that is exactly what I use on the Artcore. Thomastik flatwound 12's. I have an Eastman on which I use Roundwound 12's.

  • i'm kinda bad (been playing 3 months, can only play simple blues/jazz songs in A/E maj such as "Gentle Rain"), and I use roundwound 13's

I'm eager to change back to the standard strings... thick strings are only good for practice.

  • Pat Martino who is a famous jazz guitar guy uses a 16 on his high E string. Says that 9's feel like spider webs to him.

  • i hate gibson ibanez is better and easy on the money

  • Thank you very much for the upload! I would really like like to add acquire a hollowbody sometime in the future for more mellow jazzy tones. I've been looking at these, and couldn't believe they would sound that great for the price. But that guitar (and your playing) sounded simply beautiful to my ears. I'll be sure to try one of these bad boys out this week, =D.

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it. I have a few more to post yet... Ibanez just nailed it on these Artcore guitars. I paid $365 + tax new for it. AF85VLS1. I used it this past weekend in a Jazz Festival. My Eastman was good, but I needed a bit more volume than finesse... the Ibanez also works well when I need to rough it up a bit. It has the ability to be very mellow and to cut through with a real sweet grind.

  • That was cool. Wish I knew jazz.

  • Beautiful tone you've got there, Bill. Where's the tab on your site? I just bought an AF75 myself and I want to learn this arrangement.

  • Oop, never mind, found it. Thanks for that.

Just going to add that I've been through YouTube looking at lots of performances of this tune and it seems very few people can get it right. You're one of the ones that can. Keep it up.

  • Thanks, I know it is not the snappiest, and slickest version, but it feels good. Sometimes simple and attention to tone and feel is good.

  • Thanks, I know it is not the snappiest, and slickest version, but it feels good. Sometimes simple and attention to tone and feel is good.

  • I listened to it from 1970 until 1995, when I finally believed I had enough chops to try Gypsy Jazz. I just never thought I could play it.....until I tried. I tried to bring as much authenticity to it as possible. Thank you so much.

  • It is the "Jazz Charts Link" link just above the picture of the ES-165 in the side navigation bar... is that too many links in one sentence?

  • nice! I want to get an ibanez artcore af75, the blue sunburst. does it sound anything like yours?

  • I would think so... the AF85 has a different veneer and snazzier inlays, but I think everything else should be the same... my guess... for the money, they can't be beat... I sometimes prefer it to my Eastman

  • yeah you play it realy good it sounds awesome

  • man very very nice, sounds awsome, very soothing

  • Sounds nice. I'm getting an Artcore myself this week.

  • did the glasses come with the guitar

  • pretty snappy, eh? Wait till you see my performance specs... these were just for practice!!

  • Sound's great! I'd like to know what kind of amp you use to also hear the pick strokes.

  • Roland Cube 60!

  • Kewl Beanz! I just got an Ibanez hollowbody for Christmas, it is indeed a great guitar :)

  • Thank you very much! I recently got an Eastman AR804CE - an Oval hole Archtop with a single cutaway, floating neck and floating pickup. I believe to tone on this is far better than the Eastman F-Hole Models. AND there are not that many of them around. Very nice guitar.

I plan to record with it very soon! Please stay tuned! Also some new tunes are coming soon.

  • very nice!

  • My Guitar ^^

  • Very nice Art, the Roma played this song on my mother's funeral, the best of Django right there.

  • i actually prefer the artcores over most hollow and semi hollow bodies...great tone..keep making more vids

  • very nice performance! I have a Ibanez AF85 myself and I would like to play this as well... do you have the sheet music of Nuages or do you know where I could find it? I think the version you have is very nice!

  • Thank you very much. I have posted the tab on my music website:

http://hotguitar.org Look in the navigation bar on the left for a link to this tab.

  • very nice. im looking to buy an artcore. i know its amazing for bluesy stuff, but can you solo well with an artcore?

  • Absolutely. Check out my video of Watermelon Man!!

  • I'm inspired by this video. Thankyou for sharing. I love your playing and the guitar. Cheers.

  • Wow that was really nice. My whole family plays pro here in New Orleans, and my uncle recently started using Artcore's. This tone you have is smooth and full.

  • very nice mate. very nice indeed.

  • Man.. that artcore sound niiice. wicked playing dude.

  • Very good. And this artcore is very nice.
