I have to say this commercial is very misleading. I have Allstate insurance and have just had my claim denied for almost this exact scenario. I was mowing with riding mower and it throwed something through my outside air unit. They said it wasn't covered. A friend mentioned this commercial and said they couldn't understand how wasn't be covered. After remembering the ad, I watched it and it is a misleading representation of what is Allstate covers. Apparently lawnmower mayhem is not covered!

I do not work for an insurance company and I'm here to tell you: It is sooo worth it to have renters insurance. I had 3 daughters and before I bought my home, they "bootie bumped" each other and ended up breaking a sliding glass door twice!!! I had a different ins company, but it was covered...

Allstate, thank you for being clever. I don't use Allstate, I'm a happy USAA customer. I still feel that you deserve some kind of recognition for being the ONLY insurance brand that makes a clever commercial like this one.

The difference is that Mayhem isn't just an amusing mascot, his presence serves to prove a point about the company's standards. A cgi gecko only serves to bait naive old people and a goofy lady working in a car insurance big box store only serves to bait naive women.

Serious, true unsolicited testimonial from someone who *did* have Allstate back then:

They were great.

My 1st car, an '84 GTI, got hit by the "T" & totaled. Car #2 was an '85 GTI; that one got stolen & turned up (what was left) near a chop-shop.

I have a good one for Mayhem I am dog walking down the street I spot another dog across the way I run out in the street you slam on breaks to avoid me and the person traveling behind you rear the back of your car. I know this one to well my dad was driving down a busy 2 way intersection a dog ran out in the street he tried to avoid hitting it by slamming on breaks and caused a 3 car pile up. MAYHEM his insurance hit the roof only if he had Allstate :)
