Short n sweet but cool, a place up London called Bass Cellar are holding one of these for me so I can pick it up next week. £469 (which is $679). Need a new amp though to hear it at its full potential though, mine is absoloute shite.
don't use the pick, the plectrum. i'm a bassist and i am really proud to say that the bass player can save their money because they don't play with plectrum
A bassist will use whatever he wants to get the sound he needs -- picks give more clarity, and a generally used for more distinctive sound and for heavyier riffs -- something you cannot do with fingers. Besides, picks are not expensive :)
yeah i know what you mean, ive been playing for a little over a year, i play with both pick and fingers, i must have spend atleast 30 euros on picks ( but thas just coz i lose them soo much at like gigs and stuff)
i think everyone loses alot of picks! i lose them all over the place then wen ive come bck from a gig or tour i end up buying loads more only to lose at the next gig!
@amerilioxxx90 i think if you really can hanle the alternate picking technique and really strike the strings instead of fondling them, it sounds better on most rock songs than fingering. i myself use both and i have to admit that i play some rock/metal songs with my fingers too. i just think, that a bassplayer should be able to use both
yeh its the Warwick Corvette 5 String Standard, cost me £830 from a music shop in london, had to have it ordered as where i live they dont sell warwick basses, its one hell of a bass and a must buy for any bassist.
I understand you sometims not often but sometimes i use the pick just for the sound. but you can do this sound with the amp, change the bass level and the treble level and than you can play with your fingers and it will sound like pick.
thanx for your comment, i do play alot of different styles on bass but my cams not working so i cant upload any new vids but ill upload some more soon with my new bass!
Not something which does a great deal for me. Still, good effort. Some people really need to learn how to learn by ear ffs. Don't give them the tabs, if they can't work out something this clear and direct then they'll never be able to learn something for themselves.
hey nice played btw i play bass to I have a Spector USA neck-thru serie with a Ashdown MAG300 and a Ashdown 4x10 inch speaker cabinet. and this song RULEZ! :D keep on rockin'
can you not tab by ear? some ppl can and some cant. its not a hard song to learn but yeh sure i can tab it out. will have to do it in the next couple of days.
im not sure about warwick rock basses. ive never tried one. my bass is a real warwick corvette bass and i think the rock bass version isnt as good. their like £300-£400 and the warwick corvettes are anywhere from £800-£1000

yeah, but i also steal a LOT from from the guitarists :p
thnxs to that i can play with any type of pic kat all now :p
pari666 3 years ago
Sure, we may save $6 on 20 years worth of picks, but we pay 6-8x the price for strings.
We also need to pay more for an amp with more wattage (you'd need a 400-600w bass amp to keep up with a 100w guitar amp and drummer).
So in reality, we're not saving much by playing bass at all.

Sounds like it has potential as a melodic bass line to a song rather than a solo. And that's a good thing.
