  • Gene Shallots (smells like onions) gives Oingo Boingo two big thumbs-ups...

  • Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo ... The voice is pure ... The message has conviction ... They were wierd! AWESOME to this day!

  • with vocals by Jack Skellington himself-- Danny Elfman. It's still comes as something so peculiar to me -- that among the songs im so fond of in high school's actually sung by the one who turned out to be Danny Elfman, i never knew it then right away.

  • I'm wondering why this song didn't make the top of the charts. Lyrics and song are so powerful. Re-discovering my love of Oingo Boingo songs!

  • Even though I was born in the late 90's I was raised on 80's music and Oingo Boingo is definitely one of the best bands from that time, and Danny Elfman is an amazing musician I can always tell when I'm watching a movie with his music in it!

  • Any body that cant say something good about danny dose not know the extent of his talent they have been diggin him in cartoons and movies for years and just didnt know it!!!!! Danny you rock

  • @SaintEuchrid: A bit late to this, but your suspicions are indeed correct! Matt Mahurin directed both videos.

  • Thanks for posting this, I played the crap out of this cassette back in 1990. I took a 4-day weekend and drove out to Detroit from Connecticut to see them in concert on this tour. It was worth it.

  • its the name..oinga boingo....cant be taken seriously..

  • @chrishurt95 If you can't look past a band's name, I feel sorry for you. You're missing out.

  • @lizismestupid would someone with that viewpoint even "Get" oingo boingo in the first place?

And heaven forbid that they find out that the band was originally "the mystic knights of the oingo boingo"

  • @AngelusDlion You're right. They're a lost cause. I don't want them in our club anyway. *fist bumps AngelusDlion*

  • @chrishurt95 What's in a name?

Radiohead took their name from a Talking Heads song, but sound completely different.

  • @chrishurt95 idiot.

  • Marvelous song :) Sad but uplifting !

  • OMG. I love this song.

  • I had a chance to meet Danny at the Living Room in Providence, RI and I kick myself everyday for blowing this off - he's become the most respected music producer with not only Tim Burton but Chris Nolan's efforts , especially with the "Dark Night" and "Inception" with Leo DiCaprio. GREAT JOB DANNY ~ 'I'LL LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!

    X's, Robin

  • At my High School, they showed us an anti-suicide PSA featuring this song. I seem to remember Elfman talking a bit before the song/montage began. That was late 1990, perhaps? I was stoked as I was a huge fan (although not a big fan of this album at the time).

  • As long as it shows Danny's face, it's one of the best music videos I've ever seen

  • Yeah, too bad it was mostly hidden in shadow, because it appears that he was looking quite fine.

  • I always loved this song. It is as pretty as it is different than the usual dark side of OB lyrics. It is not surprising that they could write something that is inspiring, it is surprising that they did.

  • @BQblr Have you heard Try to Believe or (even better) Is This?

  • Everyone says sooner or later you'll reach the end of the line When things get rough some think it's easy to jump the ship . . . You decide I say--don't throw it away There's about a million reasons why Though you've heard them all before And you're getting very tired Lay your head on my lap and I'll sing you this lullaby CHORUS Don't you know That everyone around you Has felt the pain you feel today You're out of control yeah--and you want someone to tell ..............
  • OB kicks it!

  • I know many people feel this is one of their weaker songs, but this is personally one of my fav boingo songs

  • @zartanhatesyou Having suffered through depression for all of my life, this song is hands down my favorite Oingo Boingo song.

but that's like saying "I like chocolate ice cream more than cake."

  • They are so freaking awesome.....and Danny is freaking sexy

  • Great song....the video? Not so much. nyway I am pretty sure playing this song over and over actually kept me from offing myself. Thank you, Danny Elfman

  • while i love the album this song makes we wonder what the hell were they thinking.. not that its bad its just naff for Oingo Boingo,

  • who was the loser that voted down this video?

  • Where can I download this song?

  • @masamuneidkyriou Limewire....

  • The message of this video seems to be...."Don't be depressed, the Red God Of Sex is here to save you!"

  • My friend Brian is going through a tough period right now. I dedicated this song to him at this time. Hang in there Brian.

  • @yetisquid The only horrid thing about this group was the fact that I was born in 1988 and missed out on them completely

  • @ConnDevi88 I know how you feel! I never had a chance to enjoy them during the wild days...

  • I wish that the teenager from Ireland who just recently killed herself (and so many other bullied children) would have heard this song before they took their lives...

  • I don't consider this song too be only an anti-sucide song. This song makes me feel better about myself whenever i feel bad about myself. It especially helped when I was In school. I don't have many friends and this song was very helpful.

  • @ConnDevi88 Ditto.

  • If you have not seen it, you should try to find the 1st appearance of Oingo boingo on the Gong Show. That is an amazing thing to see. Yes this song has saved me too. Thank you Danny and all the people that were involved with Oingo Boingo. Thank you so much :D

  • man, i don't care what anyone says: this album is awesome. a lot of O.B. fans hate it cus it sounds so different from their earlier stuff. but the thing is, i love ALL of their stuff. even in their earlier works when they had the occasional mellow, lovely song, i loved it. this is an album just full of those. it's amazing

  • I agree. It does sound different, but really, I just love Danny's voice, which means all Oingo Boingo is excellent. :D

  • @Geekella You couldn't be more correct! I became a fan in the early 80's, but this album is my favorite. The band evolved brilliantly!

  • Danny has such a gorgeous voice, like Adam said, he can sing his ass off.

  • Who ever said that life on this planet would ever be paradise

I say--don't throw it away, you've got too many things to say

If you throw your life, if you throw away your life . . .

THe world will never be the same

  • The greatest anti-suicide anthem ever written. It lifted me up from a black depression, and I've shared it with dozens of people.

    Danny Elfman is a god!

  • WHeN YoU WaKe UP in ThE MoRninG..iT'LL OnLy Be A DREAM l(:

  • Why was Oingo Boingo not one of the really big groups around?? I'm from the Mid-West

& they didn't make much of a dent here. Middle America sucks as for as music tastes. I saw them in St. Louis & the fans there were rabid! Best concert I ever saw!!!! I worked at Peaches Records & Record Bar & saw A LOT of concerts......Oingo Boingo topped them all! DANNY ELFMAN RULES!!!!!!

  • Oingo Boingo is so underrated. And it's a crime. Man, Danny can sing his ass off.

  • @AdamStabelli888 he has one of the best existing voices, in my opinion

  • @AdamStabelli888 But he can't sing his ears off, that's why the band split.

  • @AdamStabelli888 not underrated - at last danny isnt - he's one of the most famous music producers in hollywood - plus nightmare before christmas is known and loved by an enormous amount of people.

  • "Danny Elfman on Goths" (Not Emo's, kuz Emo's are posery versions of goth.)

  • Still on the top of my best bands ever list.

I LOVED going to see them every Halloween.

  • This song is so touching.

Listening to it makes you want to cry, but then again it is also very uplifting.

    Danny continues to amaze me.

  • Boingo forever!!!

  • Danny Elfman kicks soooo much ass. Too bad oingo boingo wasn't more of a popular band. Although new people find out about oingo boingo everyday! W00ts

  • I like all of it

  • Great song, definitely...although I'm not too sure about the video...

  • i wonder if this was directed by the same person who directed peter gabriel's 'red rain'?

  • On the 12" single of "Out Of Control," the Funky Vocal Mix is wonderful, and works nicely with Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy" ... Would love to see Oingo Boingo's remixes collected together on a CD :)

  • This song hits on a very important topic and I'm glad that Danny gave us his message to those who are at a point where they need help.

  • Not sure if you all know why Danny wrote this song. Many youth wrote to him regarding suicide and this was his answer to them.

GREAT LYRICS!! one of my Boingo favs.

  • Really? I was under the impression he wrote such songs for his daughters. Where'd you learn this?

  • cool , i love this song.................

  • MCA really needs to release a DVD of all of the videos, and re-release the CDs with bonus tracks

  • wonderful great song ... over looked for boingo
