  • She kind of looks like Sappho, the Greek poetess. I mean she is a real poetess on violin!

  • thrilling audiences to boredom

  • @chrismcgovernmusic Thks so much for uploading, this is simply beautiful! I play Double Bass, and last year I played this song w/ David Kim guest soloing in my youth regional orch. It was spectacular, and watching Hilary perform the piece brings back so many memories. It is quite special to see Hilary play this. She's truly amazing. I have a question though: is there a specific reason they chose this config. (with the cellos in the middle)?

  • @SKsquashbass12 Good question, I'm not sure, perhaps this is just the way this orchestra works. Maybe Bichkov gets a better sound from that setup.

  • i think she actually missed an attempted pluck for an open E string during the B harmonic at 1:14. But, it flows better and keeps the melody moving without the pluck (although it is significantly more funzies to play the pluck when i try it hehe)...I actually forget to do it myself sometimes due to the fact that I have heard this performance without the pluck because it sounds mo betta!

  • Bravo !

  • at 7:22...OMG she's so cute, love her!

  • @veidhleadoir haha 'red or white?' is probably what she asked him. I agree, it is an adorable moment!

  • @chrismcgovernmusic haha yes! the concertino was very lucky!!!

  • @chrismcgovernmusic I would like to be the concertmaster!!! jaja so cuteeee Hilary, is the best <3 This Glazunov is so perfect.

  • I like the nice touch at the end--giving a rose to the concertmaster. I will do that in my next concert! such generosity! team work! =D

  • Hilary, You're The BOMB!!!

  • Hilary Hahn is very very good!

  • she is adorable I love her.

  • PURE jealousy!!! at 6:18 woman looking on from second violins

  • @ucharecords haha! I never would have spotted that! She should have practiced envy, it's more respectful. Or she could have practiced her violin more and she'd be a soloist too, like Hilary (Not a soloist LIKE Hilary, but you know what I mean).

  • @ucharecords it's true the second violins principal is jealous or...... she's thinking about the horrible dress JAJAJAJAJA sorry hilary i love the way you play but your dresses are terrible, she could call sarah chang for some advise about fashion

  • @rubenmsk I don't agree about this dress. This one's my favorite. The yellow one she's been wearing lately, on the other hand, I could do without.

  • @chrismcgovernmusic Both of you are crazy. Hilary has impeccable fashion sense!

  • @chrismcgovernmusic She looks so beautiful :D

  • @ucharecords hahahaha you're right, she looks so pissed!

  • @ucharecords Hahaha,, i agree with you... she is jealous hahaah :P

  • Wonderful perform of the Alexander Glazunov Violin Concerto Op. 82 in A minor,

without any doubt...however nobody, never played it like Mme. Silvia Marcovici.

    That's' my opinion, of course.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHH I WANT TO SEE HER!!! SOO FRIGGING BADLY!! T_______T im trying to get a dam job to fly out to where ever the heck shes performing!

  • @boomer4666 Where do you live? Check her website--She just updated it and she's put the tour dates back up, although she needs to update that now too because the last thing on there is the Strathmore concert, and that was last week (I was there, btw).

  • @chrismcgovernmusic !! you saw her?! man that must've bin awesome, did u get her autograph? exchange words?

and B.c Canada Vancouver. i know that she came here once before, but that was before when i liked classical music

  • @boomer4666 Oh man, she was in Toronto a few days ago! Well, she likes that region, so, I'm sure you'll see her when she swings back over.

I saw her many times, met her and gotten several autographs and one picture with her. And yes, exchanged words. I do get starstruck, but I try to remember she's still a human being. :) She likes humor. I've made her laugh on occasion.

  • @boomer4666 When did you start liking classical music, btw? Was it before you discovered Hilary or was Hilary the reason you started liking it?

  • @chrismcgovernmusic ahaha thats so cool :) im jelous haha. Well it started out with people who fiddle, then i picked up the violin reallllly liking the sound. i took lessons, and told my teacher i wanted to learn how to fiddle. that lasted until i heard Hilary's Paganini caprice no.24, then switch to classical. I cant thank Hilary enough its made a big difference in my life and i've made a art piece inspired by her interpretation of Chaconne. (which i plan to give to her :P)

  • @boomer4666 Great! Thanks for your story! I hope Hilary likes your art piece!

  • @chrismcgovernmusic one way you can find where she's playing is to check Valentina Lisitsa's site. She and Hilary will be playing a few benefits for Japan in the coming weeks. It's my bad luck that Hilary takes the summer months off; that's the only time of year when I could possibly see her in concert!

  • @rogersmr5 Thanks for that info! I've been informing people on all my social networks about the benefit shows. I'll check Val's site!

  • @chrismcgovernmusic Well I'm not too keen on "social networking" sites, so I'll just check your channel periodically for updates!

  • @rogersmr5 Just go to my channel page, I have the links for the show information on there.

  • @boomer4666 ME TOO!!!!

  • is part 3 missing?

  • @boomer4666 Yes, there's a part 3.

  • Wow...too good

  • thank you so much for uploading the whole performance! Another copy had the middle section missing and i was very sad =[ but I absolutely love hilary hahn's performance of this concerto, especially the third movement. IMO she does the best at presenting what was written more so as how the composer intended.

  • @chenneyweny Thanks for your feedback! Yes, Hilary doesn't get nearly enough credit for that at all. This is a really beautiful performance, and I'm happy to let the world see it since only Germany saw it for a while.

BTW, what do you think of Hilary's Tchaikovsky if you had a chance to hear it yet? :)

  • @chrismcgovernmusic i have not heard her tchaik, but i looked it up when i read your response and am wondering how i will get my hands on the recording haha

  • @chenneyweny Why? It wasn't released where you are? They've been releasing it sporadically in different parts of the world. Japan got it before we did by 4 months. Where are you?

  • @chrismcgovernmusic I have access to get it, and I am in the USA. But I didn't know about it until you mentioned it; the higdon concerto that's with it is interesting from the previews too

  • @chrismcgovernmusic Here in Switzerland, her last CD will only be released next week. I think that is in most countries of Europe. Can't wait! :)

  • @LadyInDaHouse88 Yeah, they had some kind of dragged-through release of the new one. Japan got it first on May 26 (on MY birthday! How cruel!), then the US on Sep 21, and the rest of the world on Jan 11, I think.

  • Now THIS is a good Glazunov performance
