What all commentators seem to forget is that whoever has oil needs to sell it. Unless Greenspan and others are arguing that Saddam was going to take over the whole world, it really doesn't matter (apart from the immorality of invasions!) who sells the oil. It must be sold.

As far as nukes, the cat is out of the bag. You can't turn back the clock. It's best to diffuse tension in order to diminish the paranoia of nations feeling they must acquire them for leverage against the interventionists.
