Bing did a pretty good version in the early 1930's; this was the first time I ever heard the intro, arguably better than the refrain...NKC version also has the intro. Hampton and the all stars is a classic extended instrumental version. In my opinion Don Byas never really got the recognition he deserved. Helen Humes sounds very Lady Dayish here. Too bad.
The most beautiful version of "Stardust" in my opinion (performed by Don Byas at Minton's with Helen Humes, Thelonious Monk and Joe Guy in 1941). Don't forget the following recordings : Chu Berry and Roy Eldridge in 1939, Coleman Hawkins and Django Reinhardt in 1935, the beautiful version of Tommy Dorsey and Edith Wright in 1936, full of charm and warmth, and finally the versions of Jack Jenney and Charlie Christian.
wow post
thank you

Man I want some of whatever this chick was smoking here. That's killer buzz she's got going here.

That's gorgeous tenor playing and ballad singing and marks one of the rare occasions on record Monk accompanying a singer on a standard song.
