Hummingbirds have Migrated back to Massachusetts ~ 4/25/11

I live in a very special place in northern MA almost in NH, but we have had Orioles for 3 days now and I just saw our first hummingbird today!

@NaturesFairy I've seen the Catbird's as well as a pair of Yellow Warblers. I'm loving the weather here, if only my weekend started tomorrow like most people's :( I'll still be enjoying the birds as I work, but I hope you get some good QT with your hummingbirds!

Dang it all, now I'm jealous! Our orioles haven't even come back yet, though I have tohees, song sparrows and white throated sparrows at the feeders. I always have my hummingbird feeders up the first week of May (around my birthday) so I'm hoping they aren't late. Thank you so much for sharing this even though you have made me insanely jealous. LOL

@HedgeLiving The Towhees arrived here last week.. arent they just so cute? :) I cant wait to see the Orioles! I love them! Today the Hummingbirds have been very busy at my feeders. Oh - wow - so cool you have some already. I love hummingbirds. :-)

Funny story - I sometimes plant hummingbird attracting flowers in a window flowerbox. One time I went to water them - from inside - and this hummingbird flew right up to my face. It scared me because their flapping wings (to me) sound like a bumble bee's & I kind of backed away. He stopped - hovered there for a few seconds & then flew off. But - it sure was cool to see one that close up.

Good! Thanks for the info. I've got my feeders all set up and have been watching for our hummingbirds too. I bought a new little feeder with suction cups to put on the window that I'm going to try. I've been waiting to see them come to my other feeders first though before I set that one up.
