I usually use back fist to counter a round house, I take big step 2 the right or left, spin around and do a back fist, at most times it hits, but sometimes it misses. So i'll let you be the judge of that.
@jeffdoeskungfu any kick with the front leg works since it will distract the opponent and bring myself into a side stance. but i use the round kick due to personal preference.
@jeffdoeskungfu you can easily use a kick to set up a spinning backfist. Well, that is if you throw a power low kick from your rear leg, and you use your lead hand to do the backfist. All you have to do is put power into your hips/rotation so that you spin 360 degrees, and all you'll have to do is extend your jabbing hand, and it'll just put it right out there to hit em. Good for boxers trying to close in on the kick. You just have to make sure you recover your movement fast enough
@jeffdoeskungfu Sorry, forgot to add that you should use a low roundhouse kick from your power leg. A body roundhouse or a high roundhouse will be more likely to bring the opponent out of range of your backfist, or make it look more telegraphic.
You could also do a backfist from your powerhand setup with a side-kick from your lead leg. Cung Le does that one a lot ^^
that is a Spinning Back fist, a Back fist is a similar movement without the spin, just the snapping of the fist.
