I've never been a fan of shows that encourage lip-synced performances from their guests, but Vanity always made the best of it. She continually delivered forceful performances with well-timed choreography and perfect syncing. Such a performance may not seem impressive, but very few artists actually did themselves justice in these circumstances. Here, Vanity has it all down, even the inclusion of those "chicka-chickoos," which always crack me up!

Merv managed the gayest and most unctuous intro I've ever heard. Vanity's "old magic" was, what, three years before this? I know New Wave came and ended, Prince got popular then strange (to most people; some of us got it) and Billy Squier ruined his career with one video, all in the span of 1982-85, but three years isn't usually long enough for someone's "old magic" to have gone away. Maybe her reference to erectile dysfunction in the song was the "old magic", I dunno. Ahh, syndicated tv.
