  • Gilchrist had Warne, Haddin had Macgill!

  • Stuart Macgill actually watched your video a few days ago, you must be honoured Robelinda :)

  • @funk192 MAGILLA!!!!!!!! love him.

  • 7:00 way too fuckin high!

  • hehe "it was 'Warne'esk..." poor MacGill was unfortunate to be in the same era :/

  • 2 lbw were ball clearly pitching outside leg stumps

1st innings 5/112 is real destruction

  • quality keeping for the first one

  • Pup fielding @ backward square leg... Would have to be close to his 1st game??

  • @whilma5 Made his debut in '99 v India. Made 18 & 2.

  • where was gilli ?

  • @parshiwal887 Couldn't get a start for the Blues and moved to WA

  • Skull did TV commentary?

  • @slapmykoala he was on ch 9 in the 90's.

  • @robelinda2 ohk. thanks man, really appreciate it. love your videos!

  • @slapmykoala thanks, ENJOY!

  • Macgill got a shit load of wickets from horrific deliveries like that 2nd one. I used to joke his wicket ball was the full toss.

  • lol that second one was a shocker of a ball to get one, I think the only one worse was Chanderpaul dismissing Steve Waugh in 1996-97

  • macgill woulda walked into the australian team if it wasnt for warny

  • Hard to call it 'destroyed' SA but it's a bloody good performance from a really nice bloke in Stuey McGilla

  • Forgot how good this bloke was....unlucky to not taken more wickets but for the era of Warney. MacGill had the much better wrong 'un and Warney had better control but on his day, this one in particular, MacGill was easily the equal of Warne. MacGill turned 'em big all the time, even at the end of his career but Warney relied more on flight and guile and the occasional big ripper.

Australia was extraordinarily lucky to have two world class leggies in the same era.

  • Holy shit... Haddin could keep! Also, that LBW shout that the commentators were saying was out was almost certainly high. Bob Parry wouldn't be feeling embarrassed at all.

  • HOly crap that was a good NSW blues team, i reckon atleast 7 of them played for AUS after that point in time?

  • MacGill's wrongun was always better than Warne's

  • i reckon macgill is better than warne

  • 2:33, perfect

  • Brad Haddin was amazing in this video!

  • Thanks rob!! Such a pain to see others dwnld ur vid and upload themselves to get some cheap views!! When I look forward to watch vintage cricket vids, the first thing I do is check if you have uploaded them!! Then only i watch the rest!

Was a pleasure to watch Stuey in action again!! Great spell for the sixers!! Will not miss a single over he ll bowl in the Big Bash!! Who knows, this maybe the last time we ll see the master bowl!!

  • cheers robelinda2 really enjoy watching spin bowling highlights especially leg spin

  • mate quality video...all your vids are quality though tbh. have u got michael vaughans 145 v australia in 4th test 2002 ashes?

  • Awesome! thanks Rob!

  • Typical MacGill wicket package - some with peaches, some with utter filth, some with dodgy decisions.

Absolute prick of a bloke, but he could turn a ball, that's for sure.

  • mate, how many tapes have you got? unbelievable.

  • @CurtisSpiers you don't want to know many i have......

  • Poor SA.. If no Warne, there is MacGIll... Man Cullinan should have been playing there...

  • Beautiful bowling.

  • Finally, some more MacGill on YouTube.

  • Do you have more of macgill's performances? Being a decent legspinner myself, I am partial to watching leg spin :) Macgill's an interesting bowler - not quite the slick elegant near perfect benz that warne was, but still had a snorter of a leg spinner.

  • @eyesonthetube Yes I have every test wicket.

  • @robelinda2 Um, just knowing that is an enormous tease. can we see them in a mega MacGill highlights package please??

  • @majinvegeta2007 would be very long, 200 wickets in a video would take some uploading, forget about editing 200+ wickets together, however i will probably do it one day!!!!

  • @robelinda2 I don't suppose you have his 8/108 VS Bangladesh? I'd love to see that.

  • Which was the TV network covering the match? does'nt look like Channel 9. Was the tour practice games covered by Fox Sports or some other network?

  • @zxzv1 Optus Pay TV showed domestic and tour matches back then, fox started in the mid 2000's.

  • Nice video. I remember once stuart mcgill got a lot of wickets(probably 10) in a test against England(can't remember the year). It would be great if you upload it :)

  • It's a shame hadds didn't play earlier, but with gillie around.....you know what i mean. He could have been really good i reckon if he had the chance earlier....but again with gillie around :p

  • just like at one time, Dizzy Gillespie was percieved better than McGrath, Stuey had nosed ahead of Warnie. ...around late 90s....

  • Stuart was quite unlucky. #BlameShaneWarne

  • Scorecard of the match :)

    "cricketarchive(dot)com/Archive/Scorecards/73/73585.html"

  • Stuey!!! Man i used to admire this bloke for his individuality ..kinda of quality i would like to have..btw he took 200 wickets faster than Warne,Saqlain and Murali :)..sad he was born in the wrong era..

  • McGill should have been born in 1982 so he could have immediately taken Warne's place.

  • Well done Haddin, nice stumping, good quick hands. MacGill's first two wickets were fairly loose deliveries, esp. the second one, but he bowled really well after that. It's a shame MacGill didn't play more Test cricket...

  • The team playing is NSW and not Australia :)

  • @him406 That explains my question as to why Haddin is keeping when his test debut was apparently 08! Cheers.

  • MacGill was an awesome bowler to watch shame he got so little opportunity for his talent.

  • Has anyone have the scoorecard for this game, i cant find it on cricinfo

  • @oobee007 check Cricket Archive, for some reason cricinfo does have the scorecard.

  • @robelinda2

0:18 - Great outward drift there, 4:18 - yes, I would say that more than 50% of the ball pitched outside off stump, & what was going on at 3:21, bit of sledging there I presume?

I definitely prefer watching bowling compared to batting performances.

  • Can't believe Ontong played test cricket!

  • Preferred MacGill to Warne personally. Peaked I think when he destroyed the West Indies, absolute pleasure to watch.

  • he debut against pakistan in tri series in aus i guess, but i really feel for him if his era was just before or after warne he would have achived much more than what he got at the end

  • its so sad that he had to be around at the same time as warney. . .

  • @nottellingu0:Get your eyes checked up if you think that the third highest wicket taker in Test Cricket didn't turn the ball.

Yes,he was a kind of a leggie who darted in his deliveries at a good speed(almost resembling a medium pacer at times) but that's just a different skill he had,and it earned him wickets. In the end, that's what matters.Plus, you'd do good to shed that common misconception of yours that Kumble didnt turn the ball.

  • Stuart Macgill- Living proof that shit gets wickets

  • @metalandcricket pretty harsh i reckon, better than anything we have now.....

  • @RoheeeeCricket yea fair call, but all leggies are like it, even warney bowled the odd long hop or full toss.... on the other hand they both bowled their fair share of pearlers!

  • Macgill was unlucky a guy named shane warne was born. He was definitely a country mile better than spinners like kumble (but is kumble considered a spinner? cant remember him turning a ball lolz)

  • his first two wickets couldn't of come off worse balls

  • fucking commentators are the biggest dickheads!

  • how old was Haddin here?

  • MacGill would have been an automatic pick in any other side (except maybe Sri Lanka), but he had the misfortune of being around at the same time as Warne. Would have been interesting to see how their careers had panned out if MacGill had come along first.

  • McGill could have made it to any other international team at that time(MAYBE barring Sri Lanka and India perhaps).

Pity that the peak of his career coincided with the peak of that fatass poker pimp's career too.If not for Warnie,McGill would have become Australia's frontline spinner at that time.Poor chap.

  • Great video, Thank you so much.

  • Fuck, if only Haddin kept like that nowdays

  • oh wait this is NSW yeah?

  • wow i didnt know haddin was playing that early!

  • @tFGaming He debuted in the 90's, i think he even debuted for Australia in 2003.

  • @tFGaming actually he did debut for Australia in 2001. In one day cricket.
