I watched CNN coverage of the D.C. protests against the bill. I was really disgusted. This is the queston I have about the "conservatives" that supposedly carry the tax burden for shiftless liberals: Why do you have time in the middle of the work week to show up at protests all over the country?
It is because they go and get people off the street who could give a flip about politics, bus them in, and pay them to show up at rallies to make their numbers look bigger. They are just FALSE.

You have to be stupid. Do you have any idea how long the United States has had government run health care? I can count 3 programs that started around 1965. And in fact all three programs are widely popular and more efficient than private insurance. So what the fuck does Nazi Germany have to do with that? I wish i could help you guys. But im from Sweden. I feel your pain and anger. If i lived in America i have a feeling i would go nuts. Dealing with ignorance day in and day out would be to much for me. Especially if that ignorance affected my wellbeing. Well its like our socioeconomic gaps here are very small. We dont really have a ''ghetto'' here even if one could argue about that. We also dont let our citizens suffer. If your sick, you just get the help you need and leave. You dont fill out any forms or anything like that. You certainly wont be denied healtcare. That would be very inhumane. Its kinda hard to be rich here id have to say. And some people misuse the system. But i like it overall, especially when i look at the USA.... :P

I'm from Norway where we also use the "Scandinavian model".
Most political "-isms" don't exist in it's purest form. But countries can still be socialist - especially if you compare them to non-socialist countries.
The "socialist" scandianvian countries actually try to find the right balance of political "isms" to get a prosperous society. Socialism is only one of the positive tools we use to shape our society. It seems that some americans in some cases confuses socialism with hardcore communism.

Every other western nation has better health care than we do, and pays less for it. This is part and parcel to fixing our economy.
And we've already dragged this out for months, to say that we should postpone it now is either severe procrastinator's denial, or a deliberate attempt to kill reform.

But I do agree that we need to reform the system wherein companies get bailed out for being "too big to fail." I didn't want any of those bailouts to happen. I liked the direction of "Cash for Clunkers" more because it actually gave money to the people. Dunno what you mean about "giving people free houses."
But none of that doesn't mean we should scrap all efforts we've made over these past months for healthcare reform. It's not like Congress (and America) can only consider one issue at a time.

Sweden is a lesson on the failure of government controlled health care. Your country is rationing health care and rejecting life saving medicines based on cost. You have also been drifting back towards privatization for decades. All that being true, we have cities with bigger populations then Sweden and it's a completely differant challenge to force insurance on 320 million citizens and 25 million illegal immigrants.
