  • Well It was kind of like, "learn as I go" when it came to putting the 2.3 Turbo engine into the 65-6 Mustang, because I could not find anyone that had or has already done it. As for the 2.3 turbo engine built I am on and posted everything I did to this Mustang on TurboFord. Those guy on there are very helpful and it would have taken me a lot longer to do some of the stuff I did, if I did not have their input.

  • I'm looking to swap a 2.3L turbo into a '65 Mercury Comet. What sites/resources did you use to do your swap?

  • There are people out there with work done to a stock head that are making well over 500rwhp

  • you could build a TON of boost on a stock 2.3l....... problem is not the bottom end its the head that kills its potential! i should get me an old beater tempo and do that swap and scare the piss out of people

  • whats that knocking in the motor? It have solid cam followers?

  • @blackbox34 I just did not have the valves adjusted right at that time.

  • @blackbox34

The rod bearings were a little loose. When the engine heats up they quiet down.

  • @24preacherboy Are you serious?

  • @GT140T

I never kid around when it comes to rod bearings because failure there results in catastrophic failure.

  • Very very cool. I'm an old C3 vette guy and have to say this is innovative, creative, cool, and just plain awesome. Great job with the 2.3t swap!

  • @IdahoAngler2 Thanks!

  • @GT140T who did your head work

  • @tonyteb The head was already ported and the big valves were already in it when I bought the head.

  • I saw this car out at the Lucky Eagle casino car show. I got to tell you, at first I was like HELL no... That Stang is ruined. Then after talking with the dude and hearing how he built it for his daughter, and actually checking out all the trick shit on the car... I was impressed to say the least. Its clean as hell and he did an amazing job on it. Good work dude. Your daughter is one lucky kid!!!

  • @Bonghitz00 Thanks!

  • @jroc261 to each their own

  • There are not to many car show this time of year. I think we are going to put it in the Portland Roadster show and the Hot Rods and Harleys show which is going to be inside at the Puyallup Fair Grounds this coming year?

  • Still going to car shows anytime soon? I am local (Kirkland) and would love to see that thing.

  • what is literaly everything you have done to it because i have a 1991 mustang with a 2.3 in it also and i want it to be pretty much just like that thanks.

  • @SKYLINERAS First the head has big valves and is ported alot. The intake has been ported alot to match the head. It has a BoPort 1.0 cam, BoPort fuel rail, ATR header (which I would not use again. I will be replacing it at some time) G3/G4 turbo, Cam is set at 2 degree's advanced, has 85lb injectors and a FAST stand alone brain. Also an Spearco intercooler

  • go to Photobucket web site and search for users name angliagasser, start on the last page and work your way forward and you can see the whole build come together. I took pictuces of everything!

  • Very clean and sounds great

  • damn, nice car man

  • The car will be at the Mustang Roundup at Bellevue Community College in Washington state, this Sunday 7-18-10.

  • Thats really nice !!! color and everything goes together well !

  • you must have a lot of love for your daughter, nice car.

  • Amazingly well done! I've recently acquired a '66 and was planning on doing this swap when i stumbled on to your videos. Any tips, suggestions, warnings?

  • With out removing the shock towers, I could not get the motor to fit. I would use a 5spd manual trany if it was for myself. I think with a manual trany I think it would be alot more fun to drive.

  • Wow, love the idea! Looks just like my motor setup lol, i have an 85 SVO.. really amazingly stunning car, GREAT job. -Mike

  • Why would you give a girl this car. Has she crashed it yet? Personally I think you should be the owner and driver of this car, you have the knowledge on how to work on it, and the respect for it considering the hours and hours of work you had to of performed on it. Nice car.

  • omg its beautiful

  • You built this for your daughter? Um...I'm available for adoption! LOL! I had an '84 SVO. NIce to see you using the 2.3L !

  • Did you delete the IAC (idle air control valve)???

If so what computer do you have running it?

    Thanks

  • Yes we did. I am running a FAST stand alone system

  • Thanks. Congrats on an amazing car!!

  • Very cool and original build! Whats the name of that color you painted the car? I really like it

  • 2008 Jepp Rescue Green

  • The exhaust is a 3 inch out of the turbo that splits into two 2 1/2 inch just behind the trany, then through two DynoMax race bullets and continue through 2 1/2 out the back through a pair of 66 GT Mustang tips. It has all mandrel bends from Columbia River Mandrel Bending

  • What kind of mufflers do you have on it? It sounds great

  • what intake manifold do u have

  • Very cool build - should be quite an enjoyable ride. When do we get to see it "go"?

  • We will be putting back on the dyno in a few weeks after I put the bigger injectors in it and put the bigger out-put alternator on it also.

  • That's a very nice project, amazing. I really like it.

  • very very very very very niiiiiiiiice!!!

  • Nice! That's quite original!

  • Thanks, I wanted to build a older ford mustasng with all updated suspension and a SVO 2.3 turbo motor and try to get 30 MPG with 300+hp. We will see what it has for HP tomorrow morning. We are putting it on a wheel dyno to put a better tune in it and to see that number we can get out of it?

  • Which camshaft are you running?

  • how many years? how many hp? any k member or tranny house mods?

  • I am not sure what you mean by, how many years. It took me 1 year and 9 months to build. If that is what you mean.

I have not put a final tune in the computer yet. But I intend to soon and put it on a wheel dyno also. I took out all the stock suspension and put a complete Heidt's front and rear suspension kits in it. The trany is a A4ld with a lockup converter and it has all the trany mods done to it.

  • Great colour and motor combo. I just love working with these engines! There so easy to modify and improve. Great car btw.

  • damn

  • What color is that? it is a very nice shade of green/gold.

  • It is 2008 Jeep Rescue Green

  • I am hoping for around 30 mpg?

  • This project has been the main reason to check theTurboFord site everyday. Amazing workmanship.

  • impressive engine work. what's the HP/torque?

  • I have not dyno'ed it yet. I have some bugs to work out. I am shooting for 300hp on low boost. But remember this car is for my daughter now!

  • oh, then you're going for efficiency. MPG estimate?

  • FOR YOUR DAUGHTER?!

omg lucky girl, i wish my dad would do that for me. I just finished my mustang SVO and im really pleased with the results. Your car is just unbelievable.

  • I will let you know Saturday July 11. That looks like when we will be dynoing it at Horsepower Connection in Lacey , Washington.
