I got an English Bulldog 2 weeks ago. He's 2. And I just got back from the Emergency Room cuz he bit me in the face, tore thru a muscle, and gave me 16 stiches. The muscle he tore controls my nose and left upper lip and the doc said i may never be able to move my lip 4 the rest of my life. I'm 14. Sorry to hear that but what exactly led to you getting bit? If the owners aren't training them properly ANY dog can be a danger. I'm guessing discipline in your house probably involves talking to the dog likes he's supposed to understand English automatically or hitting him whenever he does something bad without any consistency at all.

Mary, i'm sorry to hear this. My wife and I had a terrible time. It took 3 months before we decided that we needed to get another boxer. Our house just wasn't the same without one. They're terrible to get cancer and it's heartbreaking that they don't live longer than they do. I would urge you to journal some of the memories you shared with your dog. We also documented his final day as well. Again, i'm sorry.

it depends. a good quality family pet will run around 300-600.00 USD while a good show quality boxer can cost several thousand.

we paid 200.00 for tater, but this was before white boxers became desireable and were normally put down at birth.

thank's so much for the kind word. he was a damn good friend and we still miss him to no end. winston doesn't know what to do with himself now that he doesn't have his buddy to wrestle with. just sad. get your dogs screened for cancer. it's around 100.00 and could potentially find something that can be dealt with before it get's out of hand (like tater's did). i've never seen a dog go so quickly. literally, in 4 days he went from normal to terminal.

both of my animals came w/ cropped tails. tater, the white boxer, had natural ears for the first year of his life. when he would shake his head, it would tatter the end of his ears which would bleed profusely. it was found that he had a blood clotting disease. we had to crop them to keep them from tattering and bleeding. we would've preferred them natural.

Actually looking again at that video the "bulldog" is infact a very poor example of the British bulldog. British bulldogs have very short legs due to achondraplasia (bred into the dog hundreds of years ago) This bulldogs legs are too long it would be rejected by Crufts

I have a bulldog and I have never know of any bulldog to be aggressive to people. (that didn't deserve it anyway) My dog does not get along with other dogs very well though. We had a boxer and they fought a lot. We also have a 2 year old little girl and Harley (the dog) has been every thing I could have hoped for with children. I highly recommend a bulldog for a great INSIDE dog. Never outside for longer than 20 minutes if it is hotter that 80 degrees. They are very prone to heat strokes.

while bulldogs were bred to be fighters, the aggressive traits have been well bred out of the breed. if a stranger comes to the door, winston will let them know it's his house by barking (much like when i ask them, "who's here?", if they were to enter, he would become a completely different dog. properly bred bulldogs are just as gentle as a lab or a boxer. he's just a big ole lazy lump of love. i'd highly suggest the breed for people who are looking for a good inside dog.

we didn't dock his ears until he was a year old. this is normally done much sooner. if you'll notice, his ears were cut in a much wider fashion to prevent the tips from shaking whenever he shakes his head, they're almost 'yoda' like. much wider than a normal boxers whose ears have been cropped for show.

i think boxers look 10x more friendly w/ natural ears and would've preferred them that way.

We've had 5 boxers over that last 40 years, all with docked tails and cut ears... they look way too weird with big ears in my opinion... It's an American style though isn't it ? Most (almost all) British bred Boxers have cut ears

breeders like to like god, that's the fact. They either kill the ones that don't confirm to their standard (lets tell it like it is, they kill them, not "put them down") or they'd refer to noncomforming dogs as junk. I love dog but it takes to a "special kind" of person to be a professional breeder. Not for me, that's for sure.

It's odd. Around Tn, where we live, the white boxers are now selling for more than the colored boxers. so much 'less desireable'.

A good showquality boxer contains around 30 percent white. Sometimes this becomes the dominant trait and you get a purely white boxer. White boxers are no more likely to be deaf/blind than colored boxers.

The reason they are put down is because, as mentioned above, you can't show the puppies. Naturally, if white boxers are undesireable among showdogs, the breeders are more inclined to put them down in order to preserve the lines of their 'good' puppies.
