  • Hahaha, the amount of disdain in Rich's "yes!" at 2:29 So good.

  • "YOU WANKER" at 1:30 ????

  • @Gary190tube "You wazzock" I think.

  • and it is milan.... brilliant

  • Yeah...TOTP should have Lee and Herring on more often. Its good to have presenters that can make brilliant comments like that instead of just rapturous vacuities.

  • never knew lee was a kids tv presenter

  • Awesomes. Cheers for uploading.

  • @davidtrochtova Morris Mitchiner has spoken.

  • @davidtrochtova ermmm. how?

  • @12345l6789 Duh, because the anonymous man on the internet said so.

  • @markushollywood I'd love to know his argument though.

  • Genius, not only have we edited all the boring bits out, we have shortened it. Entertaining, surely the best episode of Top Of The Slops ever. Yes POp act may have upped their game if we had had more hard edged crytique of some of the dross that dare strum a fender on TOTP. Rich & Stu pulling no punches, and a stealth swear there too!! Only topped by Matt Bianco on SaTURDay Superwhore. 'ya bunch of wazzoks!!' - GREAT!!

  • "Hey, its Jimmy Sommerville! YES!"

  • Stewart was so cute.

  • “The commercial pop singer is a necessary evil of a capitalist society and seeing as it must exist, what a pity they can’t all have the same grace and power and artistry as... McAlmont & Butler!” is possibly the greatest intro of all time.

  • Scatman John.

  • Does anybody know which FSOL track that was right at the end?

  • Twats

  • Robson Green's mum actually phoned up the BBC to complain about Rich and Stew being mean about her son the very next day after this was broadcast, true story.

  • "You wazzock!"

  • @DexterAndCromwell I thought he said "wanker"

  • I meant to say shit.

  • It reminds me of how utterly shot Top of the Pops was and is

  • Haha, Mark Goodier does have a Cornish face

  • How did Rich manage to get away with saying 'wanker' before McAlmont & Butler? Or are my ears deceiving me?

  • I noticed that too, I'm pretty sure he did say it. Sneaky!

  • It was "wazzock", I think.

  • Yep.

  • Its funny TOTP got axed in the decade where every Saturday night is filled up with dull popstar wannabes.

  • If TOTP maintained its revolving door of cynical, edgy presenters instead of wheeling out the same sycophantic slags every week like they did towards the end, it might still be on telly.

  • Haaha! Top marks on a funny comment, too true, and on using and spelling the word

    'sycophantic' so thrillingly.

Apparently Richard Herring is a gay nazi now?

    Strange but true.

  • er, strange and NOT true

  • (i know i know, it's a joke but disguised as

'not a joke') - i am a fervent comedy podcast downloader and i know he'd not mind me saying he was gay, not after the jokes about bumming every actor who ever played doctor who, yes, including the corpses of the dead ones.

RH is in Phill Jupitus' words,

    'a dark little bastard'

  • @FindingNinoKawasaki well aren't you trying to be funny and clever at the same time. Hmm multitasking isn;t your forte

  • 'Yes' by McAlmont & Butler is incredible. i want to see that performance now.

  • I've got two performances of it on tape. If neither are on youtube I can get one or both up.

  • Thank you but there now seems to be a few versions on here, some distorted, some not. Bernard's very excited isn't he?

  • I would absolutely love to see this episode (and basically all other 90s TOTPs) in full. I wish they'd just bring TOTP back and get Rich and Stew to present it again.

  • Aaargh, nostalgia overload (despite being eight when this was broadcast, and therefore not remembering much)

  • Haha great! Was that when Michelle Gayle wore quite a low cut golden dress?

  • How young do they look? Makes me quite nostalgic for TOTP

  • "... it's not our fault, it's not our fault!..."

  • Weren't they lovely, but wasn't it a bad week for music?

  • It was a bad DECADE for music!

  • Holy shit, that was shouty. I don't remember it seeming like that when I was 14. What an old git I have become.

  • Great stuff, thanks for this!
