hey young folks, stop talking about the kooks. Max left them a few years ago, and now he's doing a fantastic job! That song is amazing, and all the ones he made before! He is great as a singer, and as a guitar player as well..
Sorry, but... Max has a fucking awesome voice, and knows better than a lot of ppl how to play his instrument. I'm not saying he's the best, but, c'mon, this song is amazing. And also his perform here. With The Kooks or not, Max's a fantastic musician. Get a life, haters. Don't you like it? So search on youtube a fucking better song. Good job, btw.
Had to listen to it a couple times but i'm really liking the new sound. Although I still think The Kooks should take him back, their new album just shows how much of an influence Max was.
Dangerous,Sorry today, and so many others great music by him,The new Kooks music isn't the same from Inside in/out in a quality way.(Sorry about my english)
@vickylarru You're wrong, The Kooks are nothing without Max. Hasn't it occured to you that the quality of their songs is much lower now Max isn't in the band anymore? That's because he used to play an important part in the writing of the kooks songs. Maybe not so much lyrically but he can write a catchy tune without being unoriginal. The Kooks still make catchy tune but they've become boring. You can like Max's new songs or not, but at least they're not boring.
There's something about the melodic tone which singles out Lonely Town from everything else, but it's missing that main factor, where it just makes you go; 'Wow!'
It sounds like Max has snatched the riff from The Undertones and passed Teenage Kicks off as Lonely Town, his kooky charm seems to sell it to me though.
A song that seems to be a mix between Bombay Bicycle Club and Nirvana, personally I'm not sure if the world is ready for that mix yet but there is definite potential throughout.
brilliant song. I'll be gratefull for lyrics.

Raw, gritty and passionate- a departure for max that focuses more on the heart and agression rather than previous commerical sensibilities

an obvious attempt to distance himself from previous work, Max Rafferty has decided the indie bandwagon was too hard to ignore for much longer
jadeshills 4 months ago
This catchy track is a recipe of collaborated riffs and sounds. Max’s crunchy guitar playing and dark vocals merely tease our eardrums.Superb.

Not a bad attempt at a solo career. Prefer his previous work, but its not the worse song in the world.

a rebellious approach to the sound of the Kooks. I prefer the acoustic side to Max. Maybe the album will be different? Still HOT

A brave attempt at blending indie-style vocals with a riff plucked straight from the 90s grunge scene and to an extent, it works.
TheScott129 4 months ago
Good tune, quite a dark British sound but infectious at the same time. More alternative than indie in sound.
