Lovely! :-) Great guitar you've got. Beautiful tone. Just started finding my way into slide. Better late than never! Thanks for the insprational vid. I can learn a lot from stuff like this.
this get better and better each time I listen...I am learning this and I am using this video as a sound reference :) (great choice I think) thnx for posting it and giving me a mark to work towards....your playing is inspiring and just plain awesome :)
I love it! I listened again and it sounds better than I remember. That guitar is so deep and rich sounding. You don't use flat strings? Wouldn't flat strings reduce slide noise? Are you using any reverb at all? D,A,D,A,D,D tuning? What make and model is the guitar? I want one!
Sir, you are a really great musician. Do you make a living at it?
@1971SuperLead Yes, I added some reverb and tremolo. The tuning is open D (DADF#AD). You started to make me curious about the guitar. It's a Shaftesbury (Japanese) and seems to be a copy of the more famous Dinâmico and produced in the 1970s (just google Shaftesbury resonator). And no, I don't make a living with it, just playing for fun.
@1971SuperLead No, haven't played square neck, did try lapstyle now and then but I don't feel very comfortable with it. I use a brass slide, heavy strings on my 12-string and normal to light ones on the others (including the resonator).
@Flo3256 It's played so slowly that you should be able to almost see it played note by note. So there not that much to teach, guess it's more a matter of practicing... Btw if we want an even slower version I suggest to use Audacity (or similar programs) to slow it down without changing the pitch. You would first have to download the audio though, but there are multiple ways to do that.
@speedRickspeed Dank je Rick. Ik heb een soundhole pickup met zuignappen over de snaren gemonteerd. Tevens microfoon bij-gemixed omdat je met de pickup alleen totaal geen resonator effect overhoudt.
This is fabulous! Couldn't find you online as having any tour dates? Do you plan any? Hope so! May want to consider booking at Space in Evanston, IL. A little music club that only sits 250. Folks go there specifically to hear fine music. And the staff is wonderful. They've been booking some amazing talent. Please come to Evanston!
Echt heel goed gedaan! Ik kwam eigenlijk voor de Leo Kottke songs, maar ben blij dat ik hier even op heb geklikt! De reverb maakt het lekker ruimtelijk
Great sound from the resonator! Always interesting to see other people's interpretation of this amazing tune. Well done, you gave it an interesting rhythm that suits your style
Well thank you! I did another acoustic version recently with HQ sound as the sound on the electric version was rather poor but it really works well on the resonator with that rhythm you added. Ry would approve! Keep slidin!
Not to be mean, but it sounds like you took the blues out of the song and made it into a happy sounding jingle. It still sounds good though.

Hey, great setup with great performance. enjoyed it. Was wondering though, how much did you give for that guitar? Also, which strings are you using?
christianfff 1 year ago
@christianfff I don't remember how much I spent, I only know I wasn't rich! I probably had light strings, nothing special.

what kind of tremolo did he use in this tune?

I used the effects of Cakewalk Sonar, i.e. it is post-processed and not realtime.

Bert,
That's really cool! This style fits you most imho since it really holds attention of the listener.
I noticed we both seem to share the same kind of music (Fahey, Kottke, Cooder). Does Fogerty also fit the que?
The effects do remind me about his 'swamp'style.
5*!

John, I must admit that I don't know Fogerty, but I'm always interested. What's the best album to start with you think?
