I personally don't like our sacred songs on a website. If you want to learn our powerful songs, go to a ceremony. That's my opinion. I was taught by my father and grandparents to learn these songs the right way.
I add my prayers to yours. Momma says, "All the rules for how to walk sacred upon this Earth have been written upon her body." She says, "By sharing we Grow." I am a Thunderbird. My heart holds prayer for the Lakota people, who holds the Thunderbird sacred.. with witness I have see the Thunderbirds walking with them. Thank you for your sharing.... this is a stoney park traditional song. it was changed around at the hollow horn bear sundance when they didnt have any sundance singers but a couple of pow wow singers. i know cuz i was there when it was sung by F.M.R and T.M. and just took off from there.
@matomani Thanks for the info. I first heard a slightly different version around 1995 on Mitakuye Oyas'in-Lakota Sundance Songs, by Elmer, Anthony and Gilly Running; Lorenzo Eagle Road; and Harold and Elva White Horse. I heard another version of it at my first Sundance on Pine Ridge, then lots of times since then. Wahancanka did a sweet version which I favorited on Youtube.
I like them all, but felt particularly moved to do this one. The Sundance songs have always been more difficult for me to learn, since I have whistle responsibilities when they are being sung, and am unable to join in with the vocals. Thanks for the post.

The words are right but the melody is totally off. This song did start out as a pow wow song.
