  • The Kitson-Meyer at 1:23 is a very important relic which deserves to be preserved or rebuilt in a different form. Originally it was a coal burner which pushed its coal tender ahead of the smoke box and had the coal carried in sacks to the firebox (via the plating alongside the boiler! Weird but true. It was built by Beyer Peacock of Manchester in 1913 I think.... though they went on to specialise in 'Garrats' instead. This particular locomotive could be converted to run as an orhodox Meyer
