  • If we're being honest here, this really looks and sounds like it's the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics.

  • @knuckleheadjones bwahahaaaa. No really. That was horrible. Sniff. Bwwwsaaaahahahahaaaa

  • 1:10-1:25 I find it so sad that Brian is wanting to sing in that part, but he doesn't have the falsetto or vocal ability he used to..so the backing band does it...but he wrote it.

  • Thanks for posting this classic. The sheet music for the original piano part for The Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.

  • god damn it brian why do you do those inflections at the beginning of each bar

  • Man - Brian without an instrument - they should have at least given him a triangle or something.

  • Simply the best...... A genius.

  • I can assure you from experience that it takes incredible strength and drive to recover from that kind of crisis. It's amazing that BW's come back and continues on after multiple and long lasting incidents. He's absolutely amazing and we're so lucky to have him.

  • @ottawangel

I couldn't agree more. We are very lucky to be able to see him live at this point in his life. He is still giving so much. What a gift he has given to us and still gives today. You people go to see him live while you can. No one lasts forever.

    RIP Carl and Dennis.

  • @Okiemom50 Amen, the Mozart of 20th Century pop music...

  • Genius!!!

  • Good, simple down to earth performance, and it's nice to hear Brian's voice - well done!

  • I HATE when some idiot at a concert yells "WOOOO!!" at a concert. Especially true for a beautiful song like this.

    Shut up you fucking drunks.

  • I know what you mean, but think its meant for the best..I hope!

  • spot on baby!!

  • I've been holding back on saying just that ... THANK YOU

  • @shigsho It's one of my absolute pet hates. I can't work out why they do it? Ego perhaps??

  • @shigsho I too hate when people show appreciation, enthusiasm and excitement for a song.

  • hes still got it!

  • i prefer to remember him when he was young,& on top of the world,

  • what year was this ?

  • Genius. Genuine Genius.

  • Genius at work .. Bravo

  • only one carl wilson for this number ,.Carl was the perfect voice for this song.

  • is this the orpheum in Vancouver?

  • Brian Wilson was and is a musical genius who has written some of the greatest music of our generation. The fact that he had a nervous breakdown does not detract from his greatness. Most geniuses walk that fine line between reality and madness. My own father was an inventor...a sheer genius... and hewas was definitely not normal. I say give Brian a break for coming back from the depths of madness and depression and be able to sing one of his most beautiful songs on stage.

  • @violetrod

    very well said.

  • I probably shouldn't say this, being a big BB fan.

We know it's Brian's song which Carl (RIP) sang.

But why doesn't Brian let Jeffrey Foskett sing lead ?

He's got the range / falsetto / voice to do it justice.

  • I'm not too into Jeff's voice. Brian, especially considering his age, does well on this song. His pitch is very good overall, his tone is a little rough but well enough, and one of the bigger factors - he's got a lot of spirit on this performance.

  • BRIAN IS MUSICAL GOD

  • Why does everyone comment that seeing him perform is sad? For a 66 year old that has had a real rough time, he is doing pretty damn good.

  • it is sad, but that doesn't change the fact that he was and is awsome

he can sing better after everything than i ever culd....

  • sad.

  • Yes.

  • chabon ( argentismo ) se la rebanca ( tendra algo que ver con wall street ) dejate de joder trolo ..... para paraaaaaaaaa

  • Karen died of anorexia, it's not really pleasant to see her in that state.

another point might be that because of my age(24)I prefer young people than old ones, I have nothing against them as long as they look good and not deteriorated.

one final thing, when you really love someone, it breaks your heart to see them suffer,if u really love them,u suffer too, it's called empathy.

when I listen to music I wanna feel great and not sad, the world's tough enough.music helps me through the bad times

  • honesty characterizes me and this time I'm gonna be very honest: I love Brian Wilson so much that it hurts to watch him in the state he is,it brings tears to my eyes, he's not the man he used to be,I know he suffered and is still suffering that is why I can't stand the way he's looking,I'd rather remind him when he was young, sweet and always smiling with the boys, I much much prefer the old time videos, call me a sentimental but that's the way I feel.Brian,I love u,always will

  • You know, I love Brian Wilson very much, too. That means I love Brian Wilson REGARDLESS--whether he is suffering at age 66 or "young, sweet and always smiling with the boys." No man is "the man he used to be" at age 66! You're not sentimental, misshouse84. You are MUCH too sensitive! You need to come into the real world, that's all. Obviously you're too easily shocked!

  • I think you got a point there by saying that I'm way too sensitive, sometimes even too Romantic, reality is too much for me and I can't help being emotional when others suffer.I love Brian but it's because of my let's say emotional condition I can't watch this o any other video by him nowadays.problem's not with Brian,it's all me. thanks for answering my commment, bwsmyhero.wish you all the best, misshouse.

  • I've also been thinking about what you said that "no man is the man he used to be at age 66". that's correct, we all age but not all of us age the same way.let's take Paul Mccartney for example,he's still in great shape, performing for nearly 3 hours non-stop!I didn't feel the same way as with Brian,I didn't feel any pity for him.now, let's take another example, Karen Carpenter.I'd rather watch her when she was full of energy and hope not when she was a bag of bones.

  • Karen Carpenter's turning into a "bag of bones" had nothing to do with her age and everything to do with anorexia.

  • yes,I know that, but my point was that watching her made me feel sad just like this video.watching Karen being thin due to his anorexia problem and watching Brian due to a lot of problems makes me sad,'cos I know they suffered....

thanks for replying to my comment! take care!love,misshouse84

  • I feel the same as you do misshouse. So sad. Now we can ad Michael.

  • "The great Brian Wil-SAWN." This doesn't appear to be from the U.S.

  • that way of saying his name is a running joke with his bandmate and longtime friend Jeff Foskett

  • jajaj se limpia la boca con la manga y se rasca como si fuera un nene, que chabón, pobre brian se la re banca.

  • He's standing! I'm not used to see him standing up while singing...

  • yeah... so I noticed... good to see that he is more comfortable on stage and willing to come out from behind the keyboard.

  • he sounds very sweet and looks comfortable. (Hope TLOS gets released btw)

  • Woah, he's gained some weight in the past year :-(

  • have a look at when he raises his arms at 2:30, the shirt's too big and adds a little.

  • I don't like when he's too thin, more chubby he looks like himself, when he lost so much weight in the late 1980s he was unrecognizable

  • awesome! nice touch with the black & white.
