I bought an A1200 a year ago but whan i plugg it to my tv i only get a black screen, don't know whats wrong with it :-( but i got my A500 up and running do :-)
@dagbli Might sound silly, but i had this problem once, thought my A1200 had packed up, but i found that my A1200 wouldn't output a pickture unless the left/right audio was pluged in to the machine as well as the video. Could be that your A1200 has gone, but never know.
@dagbli I'm assuming the A520 is the modulator thing that goes into the video parellel port? I got one of these, but it hasn't got a make or model on it. I'd do a search on this A520 and make sure you can use it on the A1200. Most Amiga equiptment and peripherals can be used on any models, which is one great thing about the Amiga's, but some are model specific.
I'd also try the red, white, yellow phono leads, see if you can get a picture that way.
@dagbli But if the phono video out doesn't work, then its back to the A520 thing, if its not model specific then i'd say somthing in the Amiga has gone. However, if it is model specific, there might be a slim chance that video out parellel will work, but for some reason video phono doesn't, or vice versa.
hey i got an amiga 500 for sale with 2 games for 1000 euros, let me know if anyone is interested, its a little rusty on the inside, but its plastic casing still looks new after i dusted it off
I already made this mod in my amiga 1200 but when i start apperas a error on operating system. Seamsthat not recognize what is master and what is slave. Please could you tell us if you how did you made to run this cd + CF in amiga 1200 3.1 oS ?
@TheMikimotor It can be really frustraiting to get this mod working, but keep persisting. First you need a 4 way ide inderface, the hdd should always be master and go in slot 1 on the interface. CD rom should be set to slave and be connected to slot 2 on the ide inderface. Use IDEfix97 for the cd rom program which you can get from aminet.net. Also some DVD rom and cd rom drives wont work, so you might have to try numerous different drive when everything is set up properly, hope this helps.
@ilsentierodeisogni Personally i wouldn't suggest this, i have never heard of doing this and it might not be that easy and strait forward as you think. I have learned doing the cd-rom mod on my Amiga that nothing is as straight forward as it seems to be. I would suggest doing the normal cd-rom mod as i have done. There is a strong possibility that the dvd burner wont work and wont work with any software, the newer the device the less chance of it working.
Hello, I need to know what to do with my Amiga 1200. I want to modify it, adding a slim dvd-burner (the one you usually find in your laptop). I have a SATA dvd burner, and I'd like to install in in my A1200, but I don't know which cable I need. I was looking on Vesalia, but I lost myself in the site section. I know that A1200 has a male 43 pin connector on the motherboard, so I think I will need a 43pin->SATA cable adapter, but does it exist?
@ilsentierodeisogni I have heard about putting dvd drive into an Amiga, but not a dvd burner. Well as far as i can remember and without checking the amiga you will need a 44 pin ide cable, but as well as that you will need a sata to ide adapter card, which you can get from ebay, sellers are usually from Hong Kong and will take about 2 weeks for it to arrive. Also not all cd-rom and dvd-rom drives will work with the Amiga, so the one you have might not work.
please people i need help i have an 1200 with hard disk and 8 mega ram card, i have kick start 3.0 then i copy games to hardisk like they are becouse most haven't the install utility, but when i try to run it they do not work? why? is the kickstart is my way wrong is the memory is me i don't know what to do anymore. to a lot game from floppy it read like dos disk why?? Please help
@LOveERDos ...mmm, could be a number of reasons. First i would suggest installing games to Amiga hd useing a program called WHDLoad. You install this program then use installs to install the games you want, check out there web site for more details. Secound, the only other way to instal games to Amiga hd is if the game gives you that option to do so rather than run game from floppy drive. Just copying a disk to a hd by itself wont work, hope this helps.
@Retrosofer thank you the problem is to pass whd load to amiga, but is normal that my 1200 don't read a lot game that with 500 and ctdv work perfectly?

@LOveERDos There are 2 ways to install games to Amiga hd. One, use a program called WHDLoad to install games to hd, you install the program then use install for selected game to install to hd, check out ther web site for more details. Secound, you can install games from game disk if it gives you that option insted of playing game from floppy disk. Just copying a game to the Amiga hd is not enough and wont work, hope this helps.
Can somebody help me please? I´ve got an Amiga 1200, and have a problem with video output. When I connect the Amiga via the composite video out jack ( labelled COMP ) to the video-in input of my TV ( it is a NTSC japanese TV but in my country we use PAL system ), the image is sharp and clean, but is all greenish, and does not show the other colors, what could be going on ? something has gone wrong with my Amiga video ? I would be very grateful for someone´s help!
Thats wierd, im not sure if the Amiga is region spacific, i dont think it is though. The first thing i would suggest is changeing the display settings in the preferences, there should be options to change the output to NTSC or PAL as well as resolution. The other thing is try plugging the A1200 up to a Pal tv to see if that sorts thing out. Other than that, try useing a SCART cable, if that doesn't work it could be the Amiga.
Hi - Thanks for writing! The problem is that I have my hard disk broken and have to boot from the floppy drive...I have my original Workbech 3.0 diskettes ( 5 diskettes ) but the Preferences folder in the boot diskette is empty, do I have to boot with the first disk and then insert the "Extras" disk, where I believe the preferences settings are ? I will be grateful again for your help!
Not quite sure, if you have a hdd installed then you should just go to the prefrences folder in workbench. If you dont have a hdd installed then im not entirly sure as i have never had to try booting my amiga that way. Id suggest trying the system with on a PAL tv first to see if that helps.

Someone told me that it's better buying a PATA dvd burner, because I could attach it to the mb in a simple way.
What do you suggest me? If I buy a PATA dvd burner, wich cable could I buy? Will I find it on Amigakit or on Vesalia?
Thank you for your help and greetings from Italy!
