I'm not sure who started it and when it started, but there is a legend about a monk group solving a tower of hanoi puzzle, with 100 golden disks, and when the last disk is placed and the puzzle is finished, the world will end.
I do remember that the book theorised how long it would take at an average of a disk a muinte (Just in case you actualy trip over and screw the entire puzzle up in your rush to join them. No joke.) I think it worked out to a couple million years, but I honestly can't remember.

Well, there was no storage of time yet, since it was assumed it wasn't played. Plus, in order to earn extra credit for the puzzle game, you HAD to beat the previous time. If you did not, you couldn't earn any more extra credit on the puzzle game, and ruining your chance at 1000 points.
Ah, good memories. I once did this all on Expert on the first run though. The weird thing was that the sound effects went screwy and the opening of that puzzle chest turned into a low-pitched whistle. :P Music was unaffected though.

The default Expert record time for the animated jigsaw puzzle is a second shy of 100 hours? They should have made a default record that made more sense. The Tower of Hanoi puzzle would have killed me if I tried this when I was younger. It probably still would.
