  • i used to love travelling on these, really strong memories of when i was small.thanks for posting these lovelly engines.i always dreamt i could have a branch line in my garden! now my son wants the same!

  • Where's the steam, give it up and run the grass cutter in your back yard.

  • i dont know if most of you know, but although that 4-4-4T is a s/o locomotive, it is also the oldest s/o locomotive in britain, dating back to the late 20's or so, its in the R&HDR museum, and is rarely seen

  • I don't like fake steamers. The real steamer is great! 5*

  • Is Bob Tebb the musician from Leeds?

  • Great work! Was the Blacolvesley originally built as a steam outline, or was it converted from live steam to internal-combustion later in its life?

  • granny fanny, i cannot force u to be interested in these things, but you should not diss people because they are. i like trains and buses, and you should be grateful that this piece of history has been preserved, so JUST CHILL AND APPRECIATE IT!! :@ great vid, dude 5*

  • ya seems wierd that the camera man would spend all that time focusing on a lawnmower on rails

if hes so fascinated because of the person that built it he should focus the camera on him instead

  • im not from saltburn but one of the biggest ever rock singers in the world was born here, david coverdale of whitesnake,i know it has nothing to do will trains but be proud people of saltburn.lets have some saltburn vids with his music in the background please.

  • Actually they're re-building the one from Cleethorpes!

  • a diesel is easier to handle!

During the firing up the real thing, you can haul the the passengers until the steamer is ready, so don´t blame the diesel locos

  • I can't quite understand the video taker's apparent fascination with what looks like a steam locomotive but seems to be powered by a lawnmower engine! What's so special about it? I'd rather see more about the real steam engines and maybe see a trip on the train.

  • To those in the know this is a historic engine!

  • What's the history on this engine? When was the internal combustion engine in this locomotive made? Is it the original engine?

  • @ccoraxfan because its a very historic loco and its not a lawnmower engine its a proper petrol engine

  • @SteamMad A lawnmower engine is also a "proper petrol engine", and we can't see it to tell the difference. But while it may be old, it's still not the same as a *genuine* steam locomotive!

  • @ccoraxfan I can't quite understand why you (and others) think all should have your opinion. If you would rather be interested in something else then buggar off to where that may be. Obviously many are interested in this and you are the man out. As for those responsible for the trains and video, fine job gents!

  • @587den007 I don't think everyone should share my opinion. But I do appreciate real, genuine things and making a gas engine look like a steam locomotive is in the category of "faking it". However, feel free to enjoy it, such as it is.

  • @ccoraxfan My live steam club has a couple of these. Each Saturday they spend the entire day giving free rides to folks at the park. Of course we run the steamers as we choose, but not everyone wants to put the miles on their insanely valuable steamer which requires extensive regular maintenance and care. The petrol units, while scale, are purpose built for cost and reliability. The only thing fake is possibly your manhood. Take your "Don't understand. Hit with rock" caveman attitude elswhere.

  • @587den007 The fake part I'm talking about is the appearance. I'm not insulting you, I wish you would refrain from doing the same.

  • @ccoraxfan Your "fake" implication is an insult. My point is that scale appearance has many levels for many purposes. The fact that you prefer a greater scale detail is not lost, you make it abuntantly clear. However, you refuse to grasp that there are valid reasons for lesser, as it were, detailed locomotives. If you don't like what you see here, then GO SOME PLACE ELSE. Complaining about what you can't change is insanity, Complaining about what you can (go somewhere you prefer) is ignorant.

  • @587den007 I can change things just by my comments. When people know what others think, they can make more informed decisions. I have no idea who may read my comments, or how they may be affected by them. I only make them with the hope they may do some good.

The fact that you respond tells me I'm effective. Bye!

  • @ccoraxfan Amazing! "I can change things with my comments." Yes words do have power. And apparently having just discovered that, you just shoot them randomly in the air like an AK47 to see what falls out? After knowing what you think, my informed decision is that you are a complete and utter pillock. Try changing that with your comments.

The fact that I respond should tell you, you are offensive. Good riddance.

  • ?? of course...if it was oil-fired it would be ok..but to install a thermic engine in the body of a steam one...this is...

  • I feel your pain.

  • I am utterly horrified to see that they have DIESEL STEAM engines!!

  • Known as a s/o or steam-outline loco.

  • How lovely to see it up and running again.

  • ....born in Saltburn and spent my childhood fishing on the pier and trips on the miniature railway...one always had to scream when going through the corrugated iron tunnel....!

  • I was born there too and spent many a holiday with grandparents only remember one ride on the train when i was very little so nice to see it back. The paddling pool was great fun too.

  • Most enjoyable ... unable to be there unfortunately:-(
