I love this season. This season to me was ridiculously realistic. The Greeks played all the street so called kings or whatever. At the end of the day Marlo and them were killing each other and going to jail. The Greeks sat back collected their money and watched Avon and all of them destroy theirselves. I loved this season.
i find it surprising that a lot of people didn't like the last season. i thought that was fantastic (especially the series finale) although 3 and 4 are still tied for the best

The Greeks sell them the drugs, they kill each other for them,and take all the cops attention, while the Greeks sit back, do nothing, and live in peace while the whole city of Baltimore eats out of their hands.
Really? While they're not my favorites seasons they still have some of the best moments in the show, and even the worst of The Wire is still better than 90% of what's on TV.

Drugs are planted in guard`s car. Outcome 1: Wee-bay`s problem taken care of, outcome 2: Avon manages to reduce sentence by giving information on guard (seeing how they did the plant)

What I meant was that Avon's product that he put on his turf + towers was really weak compared to the east side (who I know were getting their supply from the "greeks"). Did it say anywhere in the series why his product was so weak, was there a problem with his supplier?
@binaryfinary2005 Avon's supply was weak because his previous supplier severed ties with the Barksdales after seeing that Avon's sentence was so mild. The supplier basically suspected Avon of snitching, forcing Stringer to basically hold on to the west side with baking soda before taking up Joe's offer of stronger product in exchange for west side territory.
Never understood why someone would go through all the trouble to pound that air intake flat...when all the guy had to do was plug it..even if he put a baggie over it..wouldn't have been that noisy either.
I'm on my third marathon of watching the entire Wire series. And I just finished season 2 I loved this season! So many fuckin memorable moments and characters, Brother Mouzone, The Greek, Vondas, the Sabotkas, Horseface, Beadie, Elena's tits, so much classic fucking storytelling and dialogue! McNulty doing his British accent come on who didn't LAUGH!?!? Omar in court come on that is CLASSIC! The fucking WIGGERS all saying "Nigga" while Kima and Carver watch is fuckin AWESOME!

LOL. People only hate season 2 because the focus was not on the hood. Believe it or not, crime extends far beyond the ghetto. Frank Sobotka's death gutted me. He was basically a good man who got in way over his head. Which is more then I can say for alot of the criminals on this show. That's the difference with this season. This season focused on the working class people. I felt sorrier for them then I did for alot of the other characters. And season FIVE was the WORST season by far.

I think season 2 was refreshing throughout the whole series cause it left the streets and focused in other areas where there is still a lot of corruption. people who don't like this season is cause they don't see the wire as a whole, but only as a story of "the ghetto", which is fine too. and to also see the fact that baltimore, just as DC, is an extremely segregated city.

@brwhizz Season 2 was an important season, it introduced the greeks, showed how the drugs were shipped into baltimore, it showed that crime wasnt a black thing, it was a culture, people from any background can become part of it.

granted it's different but IMO this was a masterpiece on all fronts. It brought a new angle, new characters (who were superb) and was fresh. It's often misinterpreted as "wack" because the focus isn't on the streets

Season 2 was def one of my all time favs... I loved the port aspect and the idea of smugglers..I felt it infused new life in the show , they kept a little of the street stroy in , but everything between zabtka and greek was brilliant..
This was a HELL of a season, but is also the most underrated of the 5 seasons. maybe cuz it was too deep for simple minded ass people who wanted to see the street aspect of the wire, ionno. but the storyline in season 2 was brilliant, recognize that.

the detail had like three chances to catch the greek, but something always fucced it up. like when landsman failed to inform daniels about ziggy commiting a homicide in one of the greek's hideout, which they woulda found the drugs frm investigating the crime scene. or when mcnulty's fbi friend faxedthe detail's info (twice) that hit a greek informant which was a friend of the greek boss.
Just finished watching series 2 on bbc. excellent stuff, imo this at least matches series 1. And you got McNulty's 'faked' English accent, which, of course, was "spot on"!!

The first time I ever saw the wire, it was on this season. I hated it & never watched again...but after some prodding frome friends I began watching season 4 on BET & loved it....Im now addicted...so sad its gone!!

This season was REAL CEREBRAL... one had to pay attention and LIVE inside the multi-layers of the plot.
I think the Polish family that worked the docks should have kicked Ziggy YEARS ago... he was an absolute loser. His father and cousin spoiled him and KNEW he was such. He had the brain of a goldfish!!!!
Season 1 was easy to follow well... because it was the drug game. Season 2 went into prostitution, murder, extortion & racketeering... that's very involved.
i love the other seasons, like 3and4, but season's 1and2's storyline i appreciate more, cuz they both so authentic and believable, which u cant say the same for the other ones. i believed every scene, and frank sobotka? so underated, like this season here.
This series was much harder to watch, much harder to get into and a lot less happened. In fact, the physical exercise of watching it was a lot less enjoyable than the first season, yet after all that I still think I prefer it. It feels like some sort of grand tragedy in the shakespearian sense, with Frank Sobatka. I think looking back, it's such amazing, subtle and brilliant television.
I love every single episode of the wire ever filmed and consider it to be one of the greatest stories and productions of all time.

I think season 2 was refreshing throughout the whole series cause it left the streets and focused in other areas where there is still a lot of corruption. people who don't like this season is cause they don't see the wire as a whole, but only as a story of "the ghetto", which is fine too. and to also see the fact that baltimore, just as DC, is an extremely segregated city.

This was a HELL of a season, but is also the most underrated of the 5 seasons. maybe cuz it was too deep for simple minded ass people who wanted to see the street aspect of the wire, ionno. but the storyline in season 2 was brilliant, recognize that.

the detail had like three chances to catch the greek, but something always fucced it up. like when landsman failed to inform daniels about ziggy commiting a homicide in one of the greek's hideout, which they woulda found the drugs frm investigating the crime scene. or when mcnulty's fbi friend faxedthe detail's info (twice) that hit a greek informant which was a friend of the greek boss.

season 2... people love it, or hate it. personally i didn't like it the first time i watched... it was a little slow. but after watching a second time i can say this is some excellent television. don't overlook its intricacies, the way that it develops plotlines that WILL remain valuable through the 4th and 5th seasons... GOOD STUFF. MUST WATCH if you like The Wire at all

This season was REAL CEREBRAL... one had to pay attention and LIVE inside the multi-layers of the plot.
I think the Polish family that worked the docks should have kicked Ziggy YEARS ago... he was an absolute loser. His father and cousin spoiled him and KNEW he was such. He had the brain of a goldfish!!!!
Season 1 was easy to follow well... because it was the drug game. Season 2 went into prostitution, murder, extortion & racketeering... that's very involved.

This series was much harder to watch, much harder to get into and a lot less happened. In fact, the physical exercise of watching it was a lot less enjoyable than the first season, yet after all that I still think I prefer it. It feels like some sort of grand tragedy in the shakespearian sense, with Frank Sobatka. I think looking back, it's such amazing, subtle and brilliant television.

I love every single episode of the wire ever filmed and consider it to be one of the greatest stories and productions of all time.
But season two is my favorite of all. It is so sophisticated, detailed, complex, and sad. It creeps along at a very slow pace, but when you near the final quarter of the season things really get good. I LOVED this season from start to finish.

It shows how the drugs actually get into the black community. Most shows don't ever show that. That's what makes this show the best ever made in my opinion.
