  • Not technically the best version I have ever heard but the tone, the tempo and the dynamics and feel are just wonderful wonderful wonderful. Kevin you are a star and a genious. You have the most lovely feel and interpretation. Your timing in the mid section where other guitarists play the litle melody at the top of the neck sometimes a little fast was just perfect. I wish I could play like you dude take care

  • So schön,danke (:-)

  • Hi Kev,

You have the talent I'd like to posess, and this performance shows that though there are years in front of you, those years will pass in joy and love of music. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

  • Hi Kev,

  • If someone can PLEASE direct me to a download of the manuscript of Catavina for guitar, I would appreciate it as I've been searching for it for months!

  • Wow congrats! Great performance of this beautiful piece.you have the gift! Keep playing classic guitar please!!

  • I watch loads of guitarists on youtube, tutors, performers, some good some bad.

I've been playing classical for around 15 years and haven't progressed above intermediate pieces with my fat little fingers. Some of the stretches in cavatina are beyond me for now but I admire anybody who has a go at any piece and manages to make it sound half descent. Most guitarists aren't pro's,like me they play for themselves and the enjoyment it brings for them.

  • genious

  • @bingowingz70 ??? kidding

  • g8 job kev

  • Well done. Truly enjoyed that.

  • @imnotbuddha Yeah, he truly screwed if. That was pathetic. I personally know at least 10 Chinese kids playing that better than him. Anyway, good try. Are you guys deaf?

  • @wojciechzby Name all the 10 Chinese kids who play better than him. I bet you can not even play this piece right.

  • @MrGayItUp yOU I must ask them for permission. As for me: you would be surprised lol

  • @wojciechzby no, this is well-played. try it yourself. of course he's not as good as williams or vidovic, but I wouldn't like to be compared to messi when playing soccer or to manning when I throw a football. and my soccer and football skills are not even close to kevin's guitar skills, despite years of practice. stop bashing talented people who may not be quite in the realm of superstars....almost nobody is.

  • WOOW totally nailed it man, this was beautiful! I really enojed it! thanks for uploading! :)

  • @insaneguitarfreak Yeah, and now you can afford a better guitar (blue shirt is nice though)

  • 10 idiots have something in common... they disliked this ... amazing !!!!

  • Nice Job....I have done my version of Cavatina...check it out.... Pipixcan69

  • Beautiful!!!. A challenge for anyone, but you will do this piece well as time goes on. Keep it with you and it will mature like fine wine. This piece will stand the test of time and you should be happy to have it in your repetroir. Excellent...excellent...excellent!

By the way Vidovic is to fast. This should be played as John Williams meant it to be.

  • Beautiful job! You just need a better guitar.

  • @gtrhero100 Agree. And thinner fingers probably. Too much effort, too much pain, too slow. Ana's version rules.

  • Haha, I'm in the process of training him at work right now.

  • Beautiful!

  • Such a good interpretation!

Pity about the( lattice braced I guess from the sound)guitar ,lacks so much sustain in a lot of high notes...

  • Nice play...u

  • I loved it....so emotional.Technique is the servant of emotion - not its master.

  • That was very nice Kevin, well done.

Would sooner listen to your version than Vidovics, she's just in a rush, note the times of her version and Williams she's 20 seconds faster than him

  • BRAVO

  • YOU EXPRESS YOUR GUITAR PLAYING FILLED WITH EMOTIONS AND DEEP FEELINGS FOR THE GREATNESS OF THIS PIECE..KEEP ON PLAYING KEVIN..AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING...

  • Very good for an amateur, but a very long way to go... makes you appreciate the brilliance of Williams and Vidovic even more...

  • so weak

  • BRAVO!! A lovely rendition of a beautiful song.

  • Just beautiful

  • excellent tempo and feeling,"well done" 5 star*****

  • As a player myself for many years, I thought your performance was excellent. Good tempo, nice feeling. Enjoyed it.

  • excellent job, virtually perfect

  • Nice one kevin.

  • You play beautifully. You make me feel a great emotion.

  • is that a "la patrie" concert you`re playing?

  • A really nice version,well played

  • Well done!

  • great !!

  • claps! such a melodious yet sad music. one of the masterpieces of our time

  • Beautiful!!!! Ok you win, you can bang my cornhole!!! I surrender. Lol.

  • I love Cavatina, and have listened to many people play it.

You are up there with the best of them.

Beautiful, I can't stop hitting the replay button.

  • I'm trying to learn this on guitar and its a real head melter. Great job.

  • Excellent. An inspiration for all aspiring to learn to play this piece properly. Very well done

  • Hi Kevin, Beautiful! Which version of music did you use. I've been trying to order it and there's severalo version. I don't want the tab version. Thanks!

  • I used John Williams trans.

  • Kevin,

Beautifully played, I love this piece of music! I have played a version for several years now but it's kind just listening to a John Williams version and making my own fingering arrangements, so I probably don't quite play the right backing chords in places.

May I ask what guitar you are using? I am thinking of getting a new classical guitar which sounds nicer and it's more playable than my current one, but unsure how much I'd need to spend to get one with a decent sound.

    Wayne.

  • Great performance, very inspired. I agree with Charleena7, this is my favorite listening among many. Thanks for sharing and best wishes

  • Kevin,

I would be interested to know how many hours it takes you to work it back up. Thanks, Glenn

  • Beautiful. thanks for sharing.

  • Do you have any idea the hours of time he put into learning that piece ? I bet it took him between 50 and 80 hours over many months to play that. It sounds so simple but the finger positions are a bitch ! It took me about 20 hours just to get the first part sounding decent and I am an experienced player. I put it on the back burner for now . Kudos to Kevin

  • Thanks for watching glennbo72. I don't remember exactly how long it took me to learn but I did put quite a few hours into the piece. I actually just pulled this Cavatina back out about a month ago to work it back up. Such beautiful music. Thanks for listening.

    Kevin

  • amazing man, very nicely done

  • Very nice :)

  • excellent speed, hard to not play it faster, but didnt let some notes ring, sounds really good though good job man

  • what must it be like to write something so beautiful

  • That was a great attempt on the song!

  • That was Perfect. I love this theme and ive heard it from other people playing either the piano, electrical keyboard, from other guitarists, but this was exactly played like in the deer hunter. Thank you, great job.

  • Great!

  • *****

  • thanks for your performance-great job

    5 stars

  • Very, very beautiful. Thank you.

  • ...very nice...great presentation

  • and the low mids are a bit out of control... a very nice middy to trebly sound would suit your guitar.

  • a compressor would help such a beautiful performance.... get one. Lots of volume jumps is my only criticism.

  • beautifully played,as good as john himself.

  • Fantastic interpretation, very sensitive and moving quiet atmosphere! I love it Kevin. Just great! Thanks to you and Stanley Myers who composed a true masterpiece with rich harmonies. Beautiful !

  • great comments ...just good so bloody good jono

  • smashing little piece! thanks

  • Wonderful. Simply wonderful.

  • The best interpretation i ever heard after John Williams very clear and smooth!

  • Thanks for the comment lakebum

  • very nice interpretation. only ones I like better are JW's and Ana Vidovic's. Was very glad to read that you study the guitar at a university ;-) How long did it take you get to this perfection?

  • Thanks axlrosea675. On this particular piece, I had started working on it about 2.5 months before I recorded it.

  • Hmm. that's fast, given the quality. Do you play every day? How do you practice? Do you have any special technical practice styles?

  • did you just ask if he played everyday? heres the secret to life axlrose675: THER ARE NO SECRETS

  • wow

  • Segovian slice lol

  • Yeah, I used to use it for melodic purposes in this piece. It's a great appoyando technique in a slow piece like this where the melody and moving harmony are apparent.

  • Awesome, really really very good. I closed my eyes and was taken aback by how well you played this. Well done.

  • Kevin is awesome!

  • Мне очень понравилось исполнение! Я посмотрел несколько видеозаписей, но ваше исполнение лучшее!

  • Very nice.. Am learning this piece at the moment and strugggling a bit. You played it beautifully.

  • Beautiful! Five stars for sure! You have great hands; I particularly liked your right-hand technique.

  • excellent! Great timing

  • Im 12 and I can play this. Its very difficult it is way after grade 8. bravo

  • Keep up the good work then. It is a fairly difficult piece in keeping the contrast between melody and harmony. One thing that has made is "sing" more recently is the use of the "Segovian slice." Thanks for the comment

  • You made this piece really 'talk' to the listener--very challenging piece & you hit it just right-on with this rendition. Bravo.

  • Thanks you BritScot12

  • Man you got some beautiful tone

  • Thank you for the comment BlueJazzyClassic.

  • mate thats exellent, good sound as well!!!

  • well done Kevin. I enjoyed listening to you play.

I hope you don't mind me asking how many years you've been playing for?

  • beautiful, but you looked very tense throughout the song. Loosen up! =)

  • I've been playing classical guitar for almost 5 years now. Thank you for the response.

    Kevin M. Keith

  • Very, very good. Perfect form. Not an easy piece. Good job.

  • thanks for sharing, now I know how the left hand work!

  • beautiful!

  • So beautiful!!! I wish i can play like you someday...Thank you for sharing your talent.

  • well done!

  • wow!

  • you're the best !

  • Thank you very much

    Kevin

  • excellent ! great feeling

  • Wonderfully played. I am learning guitar and have wonder about the right hand in this piece. You make it look so simple. Thankyou again.

  • I'm open to any questions you have for the right hand fingerings

  • I enjoyed your performance of Cavatina. It was beautifully played. Thank you for sharing

    it on YouTube.

  • Really nice.

  • bravo!

  • Thanks Sorin72

  • Beautiful, Kevin. One of my favourite pieces that I keep starting to learn, then give up. Maybe I'll try again using your video as a teaching aid. This version is one of the best on Youtube.

  • Wonderful
