  • 500 euro ?

For this money you can buy cheap notebook with much wider screen and much more capabilities.

There is over 9K emulators for Win, so why anybody need this gimmick device for such are price?

  • my god. I NEED to get this console.

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  • Did this actually get shipped to people?

  • how much did it cost?

  • @markcol13 475 euros, which is probably about 500 USD.

  • @BrianMcKenna2 WHAT. THE. FUCK. so your saying that two of these equal the price of a macbook?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

  • @narutokirby8 You can't expect this to be cheap. Macbooks are terrible anyway. Buy two of these.

  • @BrianMcKenna2 how are macs bad?

  • @narutokirby8 I'm not getting into this.

  • @BrianMcKenna2 just a question i wont get mad at your opinion but ok whatever

  • 2 years??

  • did u win that race or what?

  • looks good, can someone give me an idea on price?

  • @evillord77 I think 500 usd when they're in stock

I've seen them on ebay for 650.

  • Even though 3DS will continue to be my main gaming portable, this is something I'd been waiting for; a full-fledged computer the size of a DS :) Totally getting one

  • nice!! if i ever get rich i will buy it for sure cause with the money i get its a litle hard lol

  • im getting the Razr Swichblade

  • i really want one of these, this is true portable gaming

  • i still dont how this stuff comes and goes its hardware design thats great but not wonderful hardware today if they made this theyd of just dont a one up on the playstation vita and 3ds because they both look pitifull. if this had a tegra 3 and android wtffffffffff wtfffffffff wtfffffffffffff wtfffffffffff i wish i owned the fraking patents and wasnt so stupid

  • 480 bucks......Im still getting this one day.

  • where can I buy and how much?

  • This video makes me feel bad about Gamester81.

  • Do you still have the Pandora?

  • Do you know the name of the first piece of music?

  • But will it blend?

  • @TTGxBUTCH Don´t try to blend a pandi, but if you try, the Evil Dragon will come and kill you ;)

  • Comment removed

  • can it play wii games?

  • @kapugen23 no

  • @ninjaevan1 no

  • What is up with the music lol

  • But will it blend?

  • do you think i should get a pen fishing rod or a open pandora console for christmas

  • Whoa whoa whoa, Phoenix wright? :3

  • nice flashcard :3

  • I want one

  • Haha you have a DS piracy cart.

    Piracy owns tho.

  • whats a pandora ?

  • tell me if I'm wrong but to be legal with this you have to own all the games right?

  • WHATS THAT U HAVE IN THE DS SLOT 2??

  • he is playing pheonix wirght

  • ds+psp+mini laptop= PANDORA

  • @djdproductions1 hahaha u wish

  • what the F@#! is Pandora?!?!

  • @NONAMEVIDS101 the ultimate tech freaks gadget full capability of reading mostly all data devices and kind of like a mini ds and computer AND apple iphone combined

  • Dear santa...

  • Still waiting for my preorder. This doesn't make it easier for me :-(

  • minecraft + open pandora = JIZZ IM MY PANTS!

  • @randomgibberishwords I doubt it'll play Minecraft, since it's so deceptively hard to run well, but if you get one, and it does, please let me know ;)

  • @randomgibberishwords not yet possible

  • 0:49 ewwwww

  • @ultimatetoturial56 yaaaaa rub that thing

  • That looks peritty sick

  • Can you connect this to a printer and print stuff?

  • would like a bluetooth input device/cradle like this for an android phone perhaps?

  • @walter0bz Just look for the iControlPad, same Type of Input except for the Keyboard, for Android-Devices

  • @ensoniq2k - looks ok, i think i've seen this, its' by the same people? the game controls need to go over the bezel however (there's a vid of one like that)

I think what I would like most is what I see above but as an ipod-touch cradle

(i have an ipod touch+ dumbphone)

..but i guess the reason they wouldn't do the clamshell as cradle for a smartphone such as galaxy s 2 is weight distribution

  • It looked really intriguing to me, but 500$ is waaaay too much for now outdated tech, regardless of what it has. Good thing the Gp2x Caanoo is always readily available.

  • @zck7 I tend not to get involved in disagreements on the web but you seem well mannered, so;

"focused on something truly unimportant" - Not to the people who want or are buying the device , your statement is not universally applicable.I find stamp collecting unimportant but a niche app or even dedicated device to catalogue them would still be prized by those who are within that niche.

"to avoid offending the master" - I find this metaphor wholly inapplicable to the situation.

  • 1. Thank you.

    2. This device cannot be replaced by any device ever. It is very unique because it is open source. I must assume that those that think an iPad can replace this probably call tech support. Open source people don't. That is this device's target audience. Also, Where are the UART lines on the device?

  • 1. I can't imagine paying $500 for such a tiny thing when I can get an iPad instead.

    2. It's focused on retro gaming of all things. Who cares about playing old games? Why has so much effort been wasted on a device that will appeal to at most 300 people out of 6 billion?

    3. I am tired of these reviewers trying to misrepresent this device as being useful for web browsing. It is TOO SMALL for that.

Open Pandora makers, take a Marketing 101 course some time, please.

  • @zck7

    1. Then go buy an ipad. I don’t think anyone is saying that this is designed as a competitor. You could also buy many other things for $500 USD , Comparing oranges to apples.

    2. It was designed for a niche audience , If you had read the info on the website you would know that. More than 300 people are interested in this device , again you should have read the website.

3.It's screen is larger than many smart phones , which a lot of people use to browse the web.

    Great video.

  • @CryptSphinx

You make obvious points, but I still have to complain.

    4. It is rare to see a handful of hardware engineers taking the trouble to see their plans all the way through manufacturing. The irony is that they are so exclusively focused on something truly unimportant (retro gaming) that they don't seem to comprehend that what they've done is extraordinary. They are intent on squandering their accomplishment on a very trivial niche, like good slaves trying to avoid offending the master.

  • Ehh, to the people that are complaining about the relatively high pricepoint. It's high because this isn't mass produced, thus the production cost is a bit more. Also, it's a small project, at least when compared to companies like Nintendo or Sony. And i don't think anything at the 500$ price point can emulate things as well as this thing can.

  • I've read the comments and want to clarify:

    1. It's not ubuntu running, it's Ångström Linux.

    2. It's not an intel architecture (PC/MAC) , its ARM (Android/iPhone)! You can't install Windows. I heard the next Windows (8?) can be installed on ARM.

    3. Linux is better suited for games, than windows! But linux lacks some standards. There are many different Linuxes, the Devs have to care about all of them and that's too expensive. Also graphics sucks on linux, ATI and Nvidia's fault, but they improve!

  • Holy crap, for 500 I might as well get a low-range notebook and a USB controller :x

  • is this running linux

  • @DaltonTk423 yes

  • ace attorney on the ds, nice!

  • Looks interesting, heard the idea was basically for on the go emulation of various classic consoles using optumised emulators under the linux UI, the pricetag is a bit much but you do get a full linux pc with a nice frontend for the emulators,

  • it took 2 years to deliver?

  • I'm going to hold off buying a Pandora and hope they improve the case... For such a good machine the build quality of the case could be better.

Good first attempt but room for improvement.

Other than that an awesome product! :)

  • this is really something i want to get, but it costs way too much, and if you ask me, the touch screen is a little rubbish if you have the full control and keyboard

  • MUSIC = "A couple of pieces of the non copyright stock music that comes with Apple's iMovie"

  • @Techmoan If you close your eyes it's almost like you're playing Transport Tycoon

  • I know this is a random request, but whats the song in the first half?

  • Oh fuck, when you whipped out that Mario Kart I was sold. Im gonna have to buy this

  • What is the backround music?

  • @MrBlueCombineGuy

How the hell can you want it when you have no idea what it is?

  • really want, not enough money

  • better than an IPAD!

  • When it was closed i was like ok ok nice then when u opened it i was like GEEEZUZ

    because all the buttons

  • Comment removed

  • thumbs up if you use the pink bubblewrap as carrying bag

  • When I saw Phoenix Wright on your DS I was :D

  • Dreamcast went portable.

  • I'm wondering if one of the connectors that i saw was a HDMI one

  • @RuleSpider Nope.. sorry

  • what rom can it runs or hace ANY STANDAR program tha t runs the games because i want one portable old gaming console to play gameboy and nitento 64

  • @gt5profan Runs most of the emus you'd like...

  • wait, the old one has 2 screens.

  • @gabydewilde NO, "the old one" is a Nintendo, this video is of an Pandora

  • nice r4 card...

  • Nice console but the real question is "can it run Crysis"

  • Dude, well done, this is how preview/review videos should be, in HD and show every little bit of detail as well as decent comparison with a familiar device.

  • this shit aint ordinary bruh.

  • can it use a normal psp chardger

  • out of curiosity, is it possible to install windows Xp on it?

  • woah! i havent check in on this project in like 2 years! i almost lost hope on it :P

  • This was supposed to be a killer system for the nerds, but they screwed up with the production costs. 500$ IS TOO MUCH. Plus it feels kind of cheap. I had it in my hands for 2 days and the plastic molding is terrible especially at the front joints. If this box was to be sold for the price of PSP or 3DS, it would have a great success. Now it's only a nice gadget for the wealthier folks out there.

  • @CeBitsMobile When buying a PS-P or 3-DS you get it cheaper because Nin-tend0 and S0-ny know they'll get $ from you when you need new games.

This is an open platform and the makers aren't going to make games for it, it's up to the good coders of the world to port / code good stuff to it.

Plus it is made in a very limited series, of course it must be expensive...

  • "open pandora the logical inverse of an ipod touch"

    Dr. Ashens

  • the a-b-x-y is a little strange, but with all the OTHER stuff this thing can do it doesn't matter:

  • This looks so beautiful, i would love to have one.

  • NOW I AM BROWSING AND WATCHING YOUTUBE WITH MY PANDORA

  • @MEGABOY240 how long did it take for you to get it after you purchased it? I live in USA and about to buy it :D

  • @sarevor Hey, Cool down dude, I was just joking!!

I really dont have it LOL :P

  • First Glance; "First Biatch."

  • i would rather have this over the 3ds or ngp but its $500 so i cant get one.

  • watch the review by ashens

lots of visual material and lots of information

  • so, can i watch youtube videos on it? and flash?

  • @cabooseaholic yes, not the best player but works good enough.

  • @cabooseaholic

    No, it's against the law.

  • @cabooseaholic Apparently, you can watch flash video on it if you install Firefox on it. The problem is that Firefox is a bit RAM-heavy, which causes videos to load slow. Use 240px resolution for best loading. Also, overclock the CPU to 1000mhz. .Better Flash support is one of the main things the Pandora guys are working on as we speak.

  • i got a delivery confirmation on thursday yaaaaaay

  • He was playing phoenix wright on his ds lolhuzzah

  • Phoenix Wright? :D

  • I was waiting for this for years...

    Then the 3DS came out.

    And NGP is coming out.

    this thing died for me.

  • Wow that music is real peaceful

  • I want one DX

  • This is like creepy porn, are you sure you are not making love to your Pandora? Be honest. Also: Would love to have one.

  • It's way to expansive tho. I would've bought it but I rather spend it on a real gaming rig

  • the words at the intro made me laugh...."in 2008 i ordered it...now its 2010 and i have it"

  • wasn't the pandora box a bad thing?

  • So expensive :(

  • looks edible :)

  • Wait! if it can run ubuntu, than it can run windows. my laptop runs ubuntu but it previously ran windows. try that!!

  • @WinXPwhiz why would you want to run windows after you've tried Linux?

  • @WinXPwhiz No Ubunto, No Windows.. sorry... it runs a modified Angstrom linux...

  • Aside from the physical keyboard and directional buttons, this just does not seem like it's worth the $500 price tag. I could buy a net book or even a non ipad tablet PC with slightly more cpu and ram power for a couple hundred dollars cheaper than this.

  • @JaydeeVonJ 2 Analogue sticks, d-pad, 4 face buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, and a full keyboard with function keys. All in a portable clamshell form factor that fits in your pocket. Really the 500 dollar pricetag is justifiable if you want a full linux desktop, like emulated, open source, or homebrew games, and want to have REAL gaming controls on an open system that you're in control of. The HTC Evo has around the same pricetag, and has a touchscreen only. I'd say the pricing is exemplary.

  • lol what a useless piece of hardware...

  • yea, I heard you press the button in unison with the game music....we all do it.

  • Thats not a gaming system it runs ubuntu but cool anyway

  • Looks a lot like a nintendo ds when closed.

  • ITS THE OPEN PANDORA, not the closed pandora. don't close it!

  • i see you got a flash cart in that ds lite heheh

  • Manufacturer Open Pandora Model name Pandora CPU type ARM Cortex A8 CPU speed 600 Mhz Graphics PowerVR SGX OS Linux Display Size 4.3" 800 X 480 Display Type Soft (Finger) Touch RAM 256 MB Keyboard YES Mouse Pointer NO Weight 335gm / 11.8 oz. • Your video was wonderful. Thanks for this. I'm gonna get one of these things now that you can order them direct, and don't have to wait for a whole batch to be made...

  • o?ooooooooooooooooo pretty where can i get one or do i have to get it directly from the site

  • ooooooooo pretty where cai i get one!

  • I noticed it said 'First Batch' behind the battery thats cool

  • man, what the hell is that? and you got the old ds wow -_-

  • @superleon115 its not the old one its the next to the old one and its the good one it can play gba and the other ones cant so if you want to talk about a stupid ds talk about the dsi/dsi xl those are stupid who cares about slow internet and the smallest mega pixel camera in the world if i want to take a picture i will just go grab my camera and take one and if i want to get on the internet i will just sit myself down onn my pc chair and get on the internet the dsi is stupid not the ds lite ;-[

  • @superleon115 dude this simply merges a dsixl with 2 sdhc slots and a full functioning lunux computer so forget you! ant that dumb comment!

  • If I won the lottery, this would be the first thing I'd buy.

  • can you still buy this today, and if so

    where?

or is it available in online stores?

  • I must have it.

  • @rum4bums You need to get some manners - as well as the ability to read previous comments - and get your caps lock key looked at too. If you look at my first comment on this video you will see that I answered this 8 months ago - but since your mouse doesn't appear to have scroll wheel I've cut and paste my answer from 8 months ago below... are you ready... here it is...

"It's a couple of pieces of the non copyright stock music that comes with Apple's iMovie"

    Now move along.

  • @Techmoan so what kind of games does it run? also very nice video

  • You just convinced me to buy it :) 10 days from now :))

  • People -- visit the link in the end of his video. Explains *everything*.

    @snellpiller - look harder.

@Gabrol - yes, unless the mouse does something out of standard spec for usb mice(i.e. it's a crap mouse). Also, if it has custom buttons or something, those buttons might not work (correctly). Why would you want to use a mouse? It has both analogue nubs and a touchscreen! I guess, for Quake you might wish for a mouse. Yes, it has a usbport. Two, IIRC - one of those smaller connectors can be used.
