  • singers got the eyes of a tweeker

  • Heard this on the radio the other day, hadn't heard it in years, was singing my heart out in traffic. 80's music kicks you know what!

  • I live a couple of blocks from the Hollywood theatre, they closed down early last year. It was a great old theatre with lots of history.....hope they open it again someday instead of putting up another condo building on W Broadway.

  • This was when Much Music, MTV were great networks. Unlike now.

  • Love the drummer he still cool

  • One of my most favourite songs.

  • Another great song.

  • "can I touch you to see if your real", best pick up line ever.

  • Mono we meet again

  • Damn, I love this song.

  • i always liked this song, too bad it never took off. What i didn't know then was that the eyes of a stranger meant they wanted to have sex with me bad

  • @brandonpaul89 what do you want her to be? you dont know.. what difference does it make... obviously you have the identity issue.. its a music video... thanks for your positive comment... :)

  • Lol, my daughter was like 3 when she started singing along to this song in the car one day. Love it!

  • Lay off Jade !!

  • Ricks right, Bob Rock is truly a pioneer in the hevy metal industry, his talent is legendary and this was the song that put him on the map. He not only produced, engineered, mixed, and produced albums for metallica but he also played bass or them when newstead left the band for 2 years. Google him, he's iconic.

  • They should put this is a movie, like totally.... for sure....

  • Its amazing to know that Bob Rock is their guitar player and he produced some of the biggest albums ever lol. Metallica and Motley crew to start lol... Who would have known lol

  • is that chick a dude or is that dude a chick?

  • you search for the words that you want to say but they dont come .. i wish i was 16 again but its gone.. you have to live your life before you understand how to live... :)

  • @jeffsteadman that's the cruelty of life

  • Suddenly, I'm 14 again!

  • Oh, snap. Is this mono?

  • the very beginning @ 0:10 reminds me of Lady In Red.. love both

  • hey,it IS Tackleberry!

  • i always thought this was by the police. sounds so much like them. lol.

  • This was the Payolas' biggest hit, which has a reggae feel to it.

  • Somehow, (and there are many), this to me has always spoke of being one of the great love songs of all time. I don't think it was their intention, but, "Can I touch you to see if you're real" is raw.

  • so I went to a strip club a few nights ago, and it was a slow night so instead of their usual routine the girls that worked there were kinda just being low-key and hanging out, talking among each other and what not.....and so at that point I got up and walked over to the guy working the music player, requested him to play this song, walked back and asked the girl I liked the most to go up on stage and dance to it.....and the results were amazing!

  • Can I touch you to see if you're real?

  • @j1albertftwayne Depends on where you're going to touch (blushes)

  • I just LOVE this song. Great riff and percussion. It really struts. I used to sing this song back in the 80s - one of my favourites, and always worked well live. Fabulous to hear it again here! And brings back great memeories!

  • Three songs in the top ten, at the same time, all had the word 'eye' in it: Eye of the tiger, eyes of a stranger, eye in the sky - what a month that was!

Always wished this song was invented by The Police. Not to discredit The Payolas, but this style of mucic was the unique sound practised by The Police. Men At Work also copied Sting and The Police, but either way, you gotta give credit to The Payolas and Men At Work for creating great songs. This one was top of the line.

  • @PaulJuliusSokoloff - I know exactly what you mean about the Police. BUT, I'm content with this song as it is.

  • "looks like billy bibbit"- classic!

I dig the chick in the puffy sleeves. She's got a Melanie Chartoff kind of hotness. I'm wondering the same thing the guy playing the guitar is... when is she going to stand up so I can check out her butt?

  • Melanie Chartoff as Grace Musso....you're spot on. Cheers

  • I also like P.O.D.'s version ;)

  • he looks like billy bibbit on one who flew over the cucoo nest!!!

  • I heard this on the radio too. I was just guessing the title ^^ Thankfully was right.

  • yup..not just metallica records motley crew...just about anyone whos anyone in rock n roll has worked with bobby!!! and hes from van island!!!! wtg mr rock

  • I think the girl is jade blade of the Dishrags

  • wheres the awesome drum solo at the end??

  • great song !!!

  • Insecurity is such an awesome sow, one of the best from CBC

  • Happy memories of listening to this on CFRA in Ottawa. :)

  • Gayola$!

  • love this song, reminds me of first year university!

  • Is that Bob Rock playing guitar?

  • @TequilaAssassin4eva yes bob rock was in the payolas.

  • @jaytotheell lol he looks way different....almost unrecognizable at first. My only previous knowledge of him was that he produced many of the Metallica records. I had to look this song up because I was watching Valley Girl the other day.....real catchy tune!

  • @TequilaAssassin4eva i never saw the video for that song! i only have it on my walkman. going to go look at it now!

  • @jaytotheell You've never seen Valley Girl? If you're into movies from the 80's then you gotta see it. Young Nicolas Cage...and this song is in it too, real good shit bro!

  • @TequilaAssassin4eva oh i thought you meant the video for the song. no i haven't seen Valley Girl the movie, and i am am sis not a bro! i just watched the vid for the song, it was boring and totally lip-synched.

  • @jaytotheell d-oh! Sorry about that...=) yeah I agree the video to this song is cheesy and the guy singing has crazy eyes, but I just like it for the song itself! And Bob Rock...I have a music documentary with him in it that was recorded in 2005 and when I see this video he looks way different back then haha.

  • @TequilaAssassin4eva i saw the video with Moon Unit herself singing it, i didn't see the one with a guy. have to go find that one now! yes I like Bob Rock's look in the video Dirty Water by the Payolas. he looks good there.

  • HAHAHAHAAH veggie eating ways "these beets I sense a danger, you got the taaaaaaaaste of expiiirrrrrryyyyy"

  • @toronto105 Those are some pretty beefy notes for a vegetarian, rock on bruski! :)

  • @toronto105 What a stupid question to ask. Did you not go to school?

  • @Gadmeer

And that means what smart guy?

  • the lead singer is a vegan, i wish more people stopped eating animals and respected life.

  • @normalguyable theres 7 million people vs 2000 vegans guess who wins .

  • @normalguyable what a laugh you gave me! Life is predacious. I wish more vegans ate animals and respected nature.

  • @normalguyable

If we weren't supposed to eat animals, they wouldn't be made out of meat.

  • @crashbandi53 HUMAN BEINGS HAVE MEAT, HEY LETS KILL MURDERING HUMANS FOR PROTEIN.

  • @normalguyable

Nah, you have to eat them young, while their bones are still soft.

  • thumbs up if you think he is trying to hard to open his eyes during the chorus!!!

  • one of my childhood movies cool tune

  • Classic! Off to find some Rock and Hyde! :-)

  • in the movie this is when they made eye contact

  • Wow I always thought The Police did this song. Shows what I know.

  • @rygu79 It's understandable:). The singer at the beginning of this song is singing quite high notes, not dissimilar to Sting's voice:).

  • waw them live at nigtclub in brampton ontario 1980,s rocked what a party

  • Leave it to the Canucks to mix rock and reggae. Like Chocolate and peanutbutter= a Delicious treat!

  • @lukkypup great drink for "thirsty ears" (to quote another Canadian group lol); and I also find chocolate and peanut butter to be a yummy mix:).

  • !!!!!!! <3 ♥

  • damn that guy does look like old tackleberry

  • This tune & 'A Million Miles Away" made the movie "Valley Girl"..............

  • Who's the girl in the video? I think I'm in love.

  • VALLEY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!MISS THE 80S

  • just saying... from Everett Wa usa, i loved this song for the past 30 years. i finally downloaded it when napster was free & throw it among almost every disc i burn. the song is a classic, too bad it was never marketed that way.

  • Anyone know if they made an instrumental verison to this...

  • 91X San Diego in the 80s.

  • Thumbs up, if you heard this song on InSecurity

  • @extreme29 best show ever

  • i heard this on the radio, like a normal person.

  • @colenbrak I wish my radio stations were just a fifth as cool to play this stuff. The hip-hop scene dominates here :(

  • @maddywoo13 Lol its a couple decades later :D

  • @colenbrak You mean like an older person.... I am normal and I love this song but I was too young to hear it on the radio when it came out.

  • @catalistic I am 17... Your point is invalid.

  • @colenbrak I suppose it is in this case.. I just wasn't sure what you meant by your initial comment.

  • @colenbrak no a normal person heard this while watching Valley Girl

  • Who's that girly looking guy ?

  • okay band but they were really into the Police a bit much. This tune in particular serves as an example.

  • Some of the best lyrics comes from the 80's, my times

  • the keyboard player Harvey was a substitute teacher for me a couple weeks back , sick song and fun to blaze to :)

  • Great old song - I never get tired of it. In fact, I listen to it like a Mantra, over and over and over. Went to a club to see them play, but unfortunately they didn't appear until quite late - near 1am - and I had to work in the morning. Great name, too.

  • Still genius... Never aged at all...

  • Tackleberry was from my hometown. RIP David Graf.

  • Wow, Bob Rock on Guitar. Dude sure looked different then!

  • looks like the singer is on methamphetamines

  • I AM AN 80'S CHILD

  • @BCRICK35 lucky

  • "am I the only one or does the singer bear a resemblance to Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies?" Heck yeah, great call - separated at birth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I remember this from the Valley Girl movie. Great tune.

  • I wish it was the early 80s now.. It was a time where movies were great, music was awesome, MTV was actually good..F**K this generation..

  • @ccg1171 I agree with you. I despise the 21s century (2000s)

  • @DreamWarrior87 Me as well..Yes its cool to have today but I think tecnology computer stuff sucks =(

  • Oh, this is a forgotten gem! I was 16...what memories were made to this song...

  • Definitely a gem!

  • oh good only 14 people missed the like button

  • 14 people have the ears of a stranger (a strange person, that is)

Great classic from the vaults! Thanks for posting this gem!

  • one of the "best songs of all time" during the 80's, also check out Eddie Grant, "Electric Avenue", such great songs and style of music from the 80's

  • @csny19691 I love the 80s..Started going away though in 1987..still better then the s**t today...

  • Correction about my Miami Vice comment. It was Season 4 episode 18.

  • This song also appeared on Miami Vice Season 4 episode 44. The show was epic in so many levels, including the use of great mainstream songs as part of their soundtrack -- something that had never been done until then.

  • thumbs up if you heard it on Miami Vice.

  • @Hot80s I just made that comment before reading your comment (about Miami Vice). What a coincidence. You got a thumbs up from me.

  • cant get enough of this song..why dont more people know this song? Is new wave forgotten?

  • @Baya0302 New Wave is alive and well in the hearts and minds of those of us who were the young of the 80s. However, by today's music standards it is safe to assume that not only New Wave but all styles of "good mainstream music" have been forgotten.

  • he's got the eyes of a pycho!....kidding...great song

  • he does look like tackkleberry

  • Bob Rock on guitar! Bet when he filmed this he never thought he'd be producing Metallica in 8 years.

  • He sure does look like Takleberry!

  • to all women who ,,are hot lol

  • this isnt queensryche...wtf?

  • @W0BN1AR lol

  • go canada!

  • Great stuff. Does anybody know where I might find the MTV video of this song? Or is this the video I'm thinking of and my my memory of it is faulty? I seem to recall Hyde strutting in place wearing a red jacket, no guitar in hand. Thanx. Btw, Ossamotocross, you lucky dog you.

  • Jesus...

  • Wow this brings back so many emotions...his voice, this music...

  • Back in 83 I wondered if the girl I was seeing was too dangerous - today she is my wife - but still dangerous!!! - Love ya baby!

  • I love how they mixed rock and reggae to form a true hybrid.... Awesome stuff!!!

  • @Landotter1 yes - THE POLICE beat them to the punch by about 3 years however.. still, nice to see bob rock in action, wearing glasses and looking nothing like the guy that would go on to produce metallica etc..

  • Baby, you've got the eyes of a stranger. That line gets me laid every time!

  • @castingtherunes sure it does

  • Why is it I always think Platinum Blonde did this song?... lol

  • Paul Hyde(vocals)& Bob Rock(guitar) was part of this band back then . Now he is a highly respected producer.

  • Miami Vice , 4th series, episode 18 - Badge of Dishonor :))

  • @Aspbergers I just viewed that episode again; the scene allowed the song to practically be played in its entirety

. I like the line "In you lip, I see, a danger" and how it's sang. Great tune!

  • Thumbs UP! Double Thumbs up~~what a great song! I remember nights cruising Waikiki with this song. God Bless Youthfulness!!

  • I found this song through P.O.D.'s cover version of it.

anyone know it they;re Christian or their general genre/sound?

  • @3rdvincetheman -christian
