@Aheaddrummer15 Basically, what you wanna do is use the rebound of the drum to basically play in between the hi-hat notes. 32nd notes if you're thinking of the hi-hat notes as 16th notes

im a drummer too yeah you are on the right track. you can hear it, but it is very low. this is very hard to explain but when your hearing the louder taps, hes just hitting it harder, so in between the fast soft ones, he does a hard one hope i helped.
