You usually have to live here for 5 years on a work visa before you are eligible for Irish citizenship. But in order to get a work visa, you need a sponsor here and already have secured a job.

It can it very tricky to do, but there might be other routes. Something you might want to look into if your serious about moving here.

However, modern day Ireland is not what a lot of Americans believe it to be. Sure you'll find traditional music and customs, but these seem to be aimed more and more towards tourists, especially in Dublin. But if you're sure about moving here, you'll find us a welcoming people mostly, and I don't think a lot of people would shoot you down
