That was nice... but... There is only one frank, and hes the best ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. Sorry frank jnr, your dad put a bench mark right up the top, no one can reach it.
I saw Frank Sinatra Jr. two or three times ,years ago, when he used to play the lounges of some of the casinos in Las Vegas. He was extremely good,, but I wondered why he never sang any songs other than those made famous by his father? Or did he sing others? Did he ever write song lyrics himself?
This reminds me of when Bing and his son Gary sang and recorded duets in the 50s.. Bing was of COURSE his usual greatness... then there was Gary, who clearly was the "also ran" ... this is almost the same thing, until that last note, and that totally belongs to Frank jr !
I'm not usually a Sinatra fan, but I just loved the two of them singing together. You can tell the difference between the two voices; however, they both sound similar, although they both have their own distinct phrasing and delivery. Thanks for posting. To my surprise, i thoroughly enjoyed this. Bellissimo!
Frank Junior was dealt a bad hand, with the impossible task of even remotely living up to his father's musical reputation. Being stuck with the name Frank Jr. didn't help matters. It's true that Junior was a good, competent singer, and a thoroughly trained musician and conductor, but when your name's Sinatra...
Cannot imagine how it would be to attempt a similar career as your father when your dad is Frank Sinatra. Give Junior credit, he is a good singer and a very fine musician but simply put, just does not have the Sinatra charisma. But then again, a voice and a commanding stage presence comes along maybe once in a lifetime. We were lucky to have Frank in ours.
@armand372100 I think Junior's voice is sub par even when not compared with Frank Senior's. Nothing particularly special about it. Not sure if he is a better musician than Dad was, though.
@ChrisStockslager Junior is a formally trained musician who obviously reads music and arranges compositions. So on that basis I believe he was the better musician. Frank however, while he did not read music, had an uncanny ability to innately know what sounded right and often times make changes to an arrangement on that basis. Upon making a change, the arranger and musicians, believed he was correct. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT HE WAS JUST GIFTED WITH A GOD GIVEN VOICE AND MUSICAL ABILITY.
@ChrisStockslager Hi Chris, I don't know how much u r into Sinatra and his music but I thought I would mention two books written about him that I found to be excellent. The first is "Sinatra The Song Is You" by Will Friedwald which is very technical musically but provides great insight into the man and his music. Second book is "Frank the Voice" by James Kaplan and it deals with the earlier years but he is presently writing a sequel. Hope u don't mind the suggestions.
@armand372100 I believe I've read both, though it's been a while. I particularly like George Jacobs' and Tina Sinatra's books. Don't think I'll bother with Barbara's..

@DrinkofWtr I believe "Love for Sale" wasn't one from his dad. That's the one where in the video Junior slides into the pool.

@armand372100 Agreed. He just has better quality tone and phrasing than Junior. But I thought senior could at least read music.
