@rdsl05 It took some time. The hardest part was learning to hover and piro at the same time. Once you get that down really well the rest is much easier. Good luck with your flying!
Okay, I take it back. I thought I was getting better, but I'm not really. I'm up to about 10 weeks now, practicing at least 5 days a week, an hour minimum at a time... and I STILL can't keep the piro hover in one spot. I can't even keep it inside of a 10 foot radius! It's just all over the goddamned place! I might get it to settle down and stay in a small area, but not for more than a few seconds. Nothing I try, following this video, or using my own tricks, works at all! FUCK!!1!!!1
Try slowing down your piro rate. Make it very slow so you can keep it in one place. very slow. Once you can do that start to speed it up. You want to slow it down to the point that you are hovering in each orientation. Like one rotation every 4 seconds.
@zfloop After each flip, do you "really flatten" the disc? I see most "pro's" wobbling it. Looks like a slight funnel. Nose-down during invert, and tail down during non-invert. This seems to work better than a "true flat" piro. Also, can you do a figure 8 piro without flipping? So, you are orbiting the "wrong way"? Very difficult only done by true piro masters.
@Gamezalot I agree with zfloop, don't waste time trying to "stick stir". Stir sticking is what you see a pro do, but that's only 1% of what's going on. Don't even try to "pick a spot" in the circle. Here's what worked for me. Just fully master backwards, right side and left side flying. Especially, in a circle and then it will somehow kick in. Good luck.
I've been practicing hovering pirouettes for weeks now and I'm not improving at all. Even when I do it slowly, my brain can't see all 4 points at the right time! By the time I realize what correction I need to make at point 1, the heli has pirouetted through points 2 and 3 and I end up making the wrong adjustment at the wrong point! I fucking HATE that shit!!! I can do all kinds of stuff with my heli, but I don't think I'll EVER be able to do a pirouetting hover. :(
@zfloop Yeah, I've started sticking with it more and more and I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I'm finding that I'm just making adjustments as needed rather than necessarily doing it only at the "4 points". While it's pirouetting, I might make only 2 adjustments at any 2 points in a single pirouette, but then I might make 4 or even 5 adjustments in the next pirouette. It may not be orthodox, but it seems to be working so far.
This is great. What are the initiating inputs to get the flip to happen. It still looks like you "stir the sticks" to me but I know there are some key first inputs that will get it started. Could you break those down in written form from start to the end through a complete cycle? Thanks!
Thank you so much for your tutorials, very in formative and useful. :-)

Keep at it and go SLOW. It might take a long time to get it down. But you will!

@sjurick
You want to key off the tail and do a forward elevator flip. IE. when the tail is at you be pushing forward elevator on the stir.
