  • Oh, how long should I cook it for and on what oven temp?

  • @mzambitious80 Bake at about 350 (F) for 30 minutes. The complete recipe is printed under the video. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • Thank you so much for your reply... Sorry if I sent multiple comments but I was using my iPod and wasn't sure if it went through.

  • Can I use a regular pan lined in aluminum foil? And how often should you turn the chicken and when should you put the BBQ sauce on?

  • @mzambitious80 Yes, you may use a regular pan lined with aluminum foil. You should turn the chicken every 15 minutes or so. During the last 15 minutes of cooking, you may put on the barbecue sauce.

    Luv Bonnie

  • @BunnyDrops Hi Bonnie! Thanks for your sweet comment! You can use this method on any meat that you want to put BBQ sauce or marinade on - winter or summer!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, thanks for the recipe.. will try it now soon. btw, do you use the upper or lower heat or both at the same time?

  • @yyasmin2010 For this recipe, you may use the upper or lower or both heating elements in your oven. You may cook it on "Bake" or "Broil." As long as you watch it and keep turning it, it will come out fine! I hope you enjoy the recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • Jusg check your barbecu sauce recip , we dont have steak sauce over here , could you please tell me if i can do it by my own ?

    thanks a lot

  • @Bisoume Here is a recipe for homemade steak sauce. If you don't have everything, just add as many ingredients as you can: 1/2 C. orange juice 1/2 C. raisins 1/4 C. soy sauce 1/4 C. white vinegar 2 T. Dijon mustard 1 T. grated orange peel 2 T. ketchup 2 T. chili sauce Bring all the ingredients to a boil, and then boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat. Allow the mixture to cool. Pour into a blender until it is smooth. I hope this helps! --Betty :)

  • WOW! wonderful dinner Betty! Every thing looks great!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, do you have any tips on how I can tell if my meat has been thoroughly cooked? I'm only good at cooking veg.

  • @MissTB91 It mainly takes practice, and also an idea of when to start checking for meat to be done. For chicken drumsticks, it makes a difference whether they are large or small, but, in general, they will take about a half-hour to cook. So, you should start checking them (use a fork or knife if necessary) after about 20 minutes or so.

    --Betty :)

  • i love this barbecue chicken and its my favorite food forever.

  • @friendlymae I'm glad you like it! Thanks for the great feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • I'm going to deff try your recipe for this bbq chicken never thought to do it this way thanks betty....

  • @chim80 I have chicken done in a lot of different ways in bettyskitchen. This is one of my favorites! Thanks for your lovely comment.

    --Betty :)

  • i realize that you are saying 'broil'. Is the stove setting broil and do you put the tray in the middle of the oven or do you put it in the bottom of the oven - under the broiler? Thank you.

  • @conserve48 If I have something that takes a long time to cook (like chicken drumsticks), I put the tray in the middle of the oven. I set the oven to "Broil," and that makes the heat come from the top heating unit. I keep turning the chicken drumsticks so that they cook evenly. With the chicken exposed to the heat, it will brown up nicely. If I want it browned or crisped more, I move the tray up to the top of the oven (never the bottom). Most people keep the oven door open a bit, too.

  • Is there any way to defrost frozen chicken fast?

  • @Kennylol It's best to defrost chicken in the refrigerator, but that takes a long time. You can speed up the process by putting the sealed frozen chicken in cool water and changing the water every hour or so.

    --Betty :)

  • I love baked barbeque chicken! I made some on my blog for the fourth of July! This is a wonderful recipe! Thanks doe sharing Ms. Betty! Oh P.S. What is the storage life of the bbq sauce?

    Thanks again!

  • @ShaunieceCooks Hi Shauniece! The barbecue sauce may be stored in the refrigerator as long as you can keep any of the ingredients that went into making it (steak sauce, brown sugar, tomato sauce, and vinegar). So, it will keep a very long time, assuming you did not let any uncooked chicken touch it.

    --Betty :)

  • At first i was thinkin',...Oven barbecued chicken,...hmm...nah, i prefer southern fried chicken with the crispy coating, but......after you tasted the morsel from the chicken drumstick,..WOW,...luvin' this barbecued chicken, although since i'm really fond of potatoes, ya think this barbecued chicken would go well with some potatoe salad? Thumbs up to ya sweet Betty and say hi to ol' blue eyes for me!! =D

  • @qualqui Yes, potato salad is perfect with BBQ chicken! I will pass along your "Hi!" to Rick!

    --Betty :)

  • How about making biscuits and gravy? I've always wanted a recipe but can't get hold of one

  • @champions2468 I have a few videos on making biscuits and a few on making gravy; I don't think I have a video of making the two together.

    --Betty :)

  • Sorry, i meant why should you never eat chicken skin?

  • @nimarocks1 Chicken skin is very fatty. When you are dieting, chicken is good to include on your diet--but that refers to white meat only--not dark meat or skin. The dark meat and skin are usually tastier!

    --Betty :)

  • Why should you never eat chicken meat?

  • These drumsticks look so good! I love your haircut! Also, want to thank you so much for your videos. I love the fact that you incorporate ways to save on calories but not taste.

I tried the rib eyes recently and they were so good! Cannot wait to make these drumsticks!

  • @bootsandbling Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it! I hope you enjoy this recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • Like your new haircut! How do you stay so thin with all that food around? Do you do exercises, or is it just good genes? Tell us your secret Betty.

  • @ttcup The main thing is diet. I have an iron will when it comes to eating. I eat anything I want, but only a small portion of anything that is fatty/sugary and full of calories. I eat egg whites, tuna, grilled chicken, and lots of fruits and vegetables--very little potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, or desserts. I don't feel deprived at all; I have eaten like this all my adult life, and have stayed pretty much the same weight. I do exercise when I can, but I think my diet is more important!

    --B

  • Like your new haircut!

  • @ttcup Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Mmmm! Looks delicious!!!! Can't wait to try it out. Do you think that your BBQ sauce would be good over some grilled fruit/veggie mixes for chicken or beef kabobs? I usually do a combination of peppers, onions and pineapple for beef, and the same thing for chicken but instead of pineapple, I do mango. I know some people prefer just to coat the meat on the grill but I just brush the entire kabob and it comes out great.

  • @Dark0Malkavian Yes, this BBQ sauce would taste very good on peppers, onions, and mangos (with chicken or beef kabobs).

    --Betty :)

  • may i just say ive noticed your very comfortable in front of the camera now than when you first started and of course ill be trying this can i use breast instead?

  • @DreamloverLambi1 Yes, you may use chicken breasts or any parts of the chicken that you like. Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty...i know the skin of the chicken is not healthy....but dang ...thats the best part!! lol...dish looks great!

  • @honeyfirebees07 Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • Wow That looks so delicious! Thanks for sharing!!

  • @bbq4smoke Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • i missed ur recent bbq sauce upload, so i'm going to have to go back and watch that, but this looks amazing! i'm going to have to try it. i think i'll use boneless, skinless chicken breast though. the hubby and i dont care much for chicken on the bone and we're trying to eat lighter, so the dark meat is a no-no for us. i'm sure it'll be just as amazing! another great recipe, betty..... thanks once more for the inspiration! =)

  • @IanzGurrl Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • that chicken would be so good with sour cream !! yaumm thank you betty

  • @hertot Yes, that sounds good!

    --Betty :)

  • I want some... Yum. Betty, what's the reason behind opening the oven door when broiling? When u said that u immediately took me back in time to my childhood days with my mom as she also did the same thing.

  • @myiphonerocks3gS That keeps the broiler unit continually on, so that the meat cooks evenly from the top.

    --Betty :)

  • The chicken looks so yummy!

  • @iloveTokyoJapan Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • These look delicious!

  • @sweetcharade518 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • This video made me so hungry.. my mouth was watering the entire time watching this... especially when the scalloped potatoes were put on. And I even had chicken to eat to day. Betty, you should open up a restaurant I think? Alot of work though.

  • @crypto0102 I've always been interested in owning a restaurant--but i don't see that happening! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • looks good

  • @beautynmyheart Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • I feel like if you put them in without any breading on it in the oven, just bbq sauce, there wouldnt be a good flavor to it.

  • @KayCakes2000 If you plan to use barbecue sauce, you just want to season your meat with flavorings and spray or coat with oil or butter. The sauce is for finishing off the texture of the dish. It would not be traditional with breading on the meat.

    --Betty :)

  • @KayCakes2000 The would be no point in putting breading for meat w/ bbq sauce, regardless of whether it is in the oven on not. Most meat w/ BBQ sauce recipes exclude breading because it would not be as crispy (which is the point of breading) and would not allow the flavor from the BBQ sauce to penetrate the chicken as well. If anything, you could dust the meat with a little flour, as some people do with buffalo wings done in the oven, but that's optional.

  • wow the sizzilng from the oven made me hungry

  • @dody1998 I like to get a shot of food cooking, so that you can tell whether you would like it. Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • How can u tell when they are done? When I cook wings, I stick a toothpick in it when im unsure..

  • @Cubana615 If you are used to using a toothpick for wings, you can use that method for legs also. If your oven is working properly, 30 minutes at 350 degrees (F) plus two 10-minutes rounds of baking the sauce in will ensure that the chicken drumsticks are done.

    --Betty :)

  • i always appreciate any alternatives to fried things like chicken that are easy to bake. i cant digest fried stuff unfortunately :(

  • @kekejojo1212 I hope you enjoy the broiled chicken drumsticks!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks great! Betty I don't have a broiler pan

Would this work work with a regular baking sheet? Also if baking them what temperature would you suggest? Thanks you!

  • @barbielovesmac100 Yes, a regular baking pan is fine. (It needs edges to catch any drips during baking.) I would line it with aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Bake the seasoned drumsticks at 350 degrees (F), turning often, for about 30 minutes before basting with BBQ sauce. Then bake about 10 more minutes, and possibly repeat, depending whether your want more sauce and a browner look.

    --Betty :)

  • Ya'll eat well.

You should do a recipe with hemp seeds Betty.

  • @moyhead99 Kentucky.

    --Betty :)

  • Yum it looks wonderful Betty, thanks I'm going to make them

  • @Fitange Thanks for your great comment. I hope you enjoy the chicken drumsticks!

  • dNeed a recipe for homemade Spagetti sauce. I hav a million tomatoes..

  • @blinko656 Here is Easy Spaghetti with Savory Marinara Sauce:

    youtube.com/watch?v=KTiP08W2mlM

I have other types of spaghetti sauce with meat, etc., if you prefer them. But, this one is simple and will be great for using up tomatoes! (If the recipe calls for canned tomatoes, just substitute fresh tomatoes.)
