Watching this for about the 4th time today, and THIS ... is definitely the next RPG I wanna play. Even if it means I'll have to get a Wii just for this. *starts hunting for a used one*
It may not have the graphic fidelity of the big name RPG's, but I still say it looks better than the rest of them this gen. It's one thing to create awesome graphics, but it's another to to make you awe at the incredible scenery.
NA people, if you have a Wii you owe it to yourself to pre-order this game, it's the best game on that entire system, hands down. If you don't like Gamestop you can get it straight from Nintendo online. It's worth every penny and more.

Nintendo hasn't officially announced this game for North America BUT they did upload pictures, and there are some rumors going around that you can pre-order this at gamestop!
@MaxMeents if everyone did that then there will not likely be any more games this good in the future. I bought a Japanese Wii and xenoblade, and then xenoblade again in PAL. Support developers when they make awesome games.

Incredible the expansive fields of this game. I don`t know that the Wii are capable of that. It's hilarious FXIII on more capable hardware fails at recreate a open world.
so there are only four populated areas? Colony 9 and 6, Alcamoth and the village in the giant three? this is the only thing of xenoblade that i hate...
I think it's too bad to see so many gamers taking an adversarial approach to one another. I'm in U.S., and when we get a game that EU doesn't... I'm not happy about it. I feel bad for them.

Sometimes in RPG's of today, developers tend to forget about the rather important feeling of adventure, and instead put the narrative above all. Even with it's numerous cutscenes in Xenoblade, they are tiny compared to how much the player will venture into the enourmous worlds, finding out secrets, meeting NPC's, taking quests and just jumping off huge structures because you can.
This is a game. An adventure. The developers here make sure you feel yer on an adventure, not mere nostalgia.
THIS !! is the most Amazing Adventure i ever played. i played fallout, morrowind,gothic, i played final fantasy 1-13, dragon quest 1-9, i played every 16-bit masterpiece rpg and own a ps1+ps2 rpg libary to the fullest. i played vesperia and demon souls..... but i never...NEVER played in such an amazing world......
a game with nearly no boundaries to the scale of the world....its not even HD but music,design so beautiful, it`s truly an adventure to play this game with such a wonderful story
The scale is incredible, yes. But it's not without a sacrifice - the graphics are very plain. The gameplay itself is, basically, an offline MMO. Sounds crazy but it's pretty fun, actually. I just wish for a better story...

Bought it 2 days ago and I've already clocked 10 hours, and I've got a busy schedule so that's probably a record for me. It really is incredible, can't believe I'd never even heard of it until the day it came out and the reviews came in.
I thought JRPGs were dead, but when I played this game, I felt like I was 12 years old again, in the middle of summer vacation, with a chocolate milkshake and not a care in the world.

I'm still on the fence of buying it because of the SD (but admitedly beautiful) graphics, but I'm an old school gamer whose fondest memories are from those magical PS2 JRPGs from a decade ago: Dark Chronicle, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Kingdom Hearts, FFX... you name it.

I have a PS3. The PS3 is an incredible machine with fantasic games. I think the Wii is a piece of shit. The Wii remote is crappy and motion plus is a con. I buy some games for Wii and I feel cheated of my hard-earned cash.
The point is, this game is totally different. It's great. I despise the Wii and what Nintendo have become, but this game deserves every bit of praise it gets. It's no Halo/portal over-rated bullshittery. It's quality :)

American localization of Xenoblade is complete, The Last Story is currently being translated to English for an American release, but there is no word on Pandora’s Tower localization. This information was disclosed to Operation Rainfall today from a source within Nintendo who wishes to remain anonymous. There is currently no indication of when Nintendo of America plans to formally announce these titles.
Whoa. To be completely honest, I thought Project Rainfall was just a bunch of people whining about a couple of mediocre games they couldn't have. I was so wrong. This looks like it could be considered the best game ever released for Wii. I've got the bug now too. I'm a sucker for large areas to explore, and open ended RPGs. Sign me up for sure.
As a 3D graphics programmer myself, I can't help but wonder HOW THE HELL do they manage to make it look THAT good on such an ancient piece of hardware?! I mean, Wii was already outdated back in 2006, and it has only 88 megabytes of RAM! Only 88 freaking megabytes that hold all those grassy plains, floating islands, vast textures, sexy models, and also all animations, game logic and sound!

the advantage of an underpowered system is that it doesn't take as long to create original 3D assets - with superpowerful HD systems, asset creation takes ages as developers try to detail every pore on every leaf etc...that means you either get smaller games with less exploration (e.g. FFXIII) or bland environments which reuse assets a lot (e.g. Elder Scrolls)
This looks like it might be the last RPG in the mould of the classic PS2 days, where RPGS were both massive and artistic

Besides, for what its worth, this game still looks amazing, but it can at least back up the pretty graphics with some solid gameplay.

American localization of Xenoblade is complete, The Last Story is currently being translated to English for an American release, but there is no word on Pandora’s Tower localization. This information was disclosed to Operation Rainfall today from a source within Nintendo who wishes to remain anonymous. There is currently no indication of when Nintendo of America plans to formally announce these titles.

Whoa. To be completely honest, I thought Project Rainfall was just a bunch of people whining about a couple of mediocre games they couldn't have. I was so wrong. This looks like it could be considered the best game ever released for Wii. I've got the bug now too. I'm a sucker for large areas to explore, and open ended RPGs. Sign me up for sure.

As a 3D graphics programmer myself, I can't help but wonder HOW THE HELL do they manage to make it look THAT good on such an ancient piece of hardware?! I mean, Wii was already outdated back in 2006, and it has only 88 megabytes of RAM! Only 88 freaking megabytes that hold all those grassy plains, floating islands, vast textures, sexy models, and also all animations, game logic and sound!
That's way beyond impossible.

kinda looks like PANDORA from AVATAR...the game looks EPIC. Very beautiful scenery of that world...I wonder if NINTENDO is going to HD this and make it a game for the Wii U. I bet that, that's what they are doing. They should definitely release it everywhere though.

the advantage of an underpowered system is that it doesn't take as long to create original 3D assets - with superpowerful HD systems, asset creation takes ages as developers try to detail every pore on every leaf etc...that means you either get smaller games with less exploration (e.g. FFXIII) or bland environments which reuse assets a lot (e.g. Elder Scrolls)
This looks like it might be the last RPG in the mould of the classic PS2 days, where RPGS were both massive and artistic
