I have ran Windows 7 for many hours, i have watched the processes and ran a program that I have wote to catch the event, but nothing happened. It seems, it is finally OKEY :)
I have watched the processes with Process Monitor and I have read about the topic. I have disabled 5 services, wich can caused the problem, all of them was connected with the "home grouping" or with network.
I have disabled (Run->services.msc):
1. Peer Networking Grouping
2. Peer Networking Identify Manager
3. SSDP kereső
4. Peer Name Resolution Protocol (or PNRP Protocol)

same here windows 7 64bit unexpected freeze, mouse stop moving, keyboard does not correspond, I have to reset the system, strange, what causes windows 7 to freeze like this, some say its chipset drivers not well yet supported....frig intel needs to work with microsoft on this.

Well I'll tell you what they said me how to resolve this, meybe it will help you.. 1. thing that you have to pay attention on is your RAM memory... Go to BIOS and see if your voltages and timings are ok with factory settings of RAM memory... All that can be caused only by RAM if it problem with hardware..
I found Freeze fix ,steps. start. right click(my computer)property's. Advance Tab. Settings( performance).Visual Affects processor, mem usage, and virtual memory. Advance tab. click Change (Virtual Memory). Customs Size (Initial Side 4000). Maximum size ( 4000). click set. Ok. you might have to restart your computer. this will help every thing to load faster. let me know you that fixed your freeze troubles.good luck

this has recently started happening to me and i had 64 bit, so until i sell my gaming pc to build a new system, i'm using xp and saving 7 for my new build :)
i had the same problem and just removed AVG and it worked, cant believe your own personal anti-virus can cause a chaos like this but try it worked for me :D
This happens to me just by opening any 3 windows on my laptop and it came with win 7 32 bit. i have performed error check, defrag, disk cleanup, registry cleanup, virus scan, spyware, ad ware cleanup and nothing its still the same. i am not even getting out to the network before it starts doing it. if i leave it alone it starts responding again but if i click on anything it locks up again and again. i have to say i amn disgusted with microsoft.
Windows 7 is pure evil. Vista runs much better. I had to reformat my hard drive due to severe freezes that even rebooting could not fix. Microsux does it again! RIPPED ME OFF! My new computer locks out Windows XP that I can't even load the registered version. Windows XP is much better than Windows 7 and Vista.
@ptyko erm i think i may off fixed mine i have ram with the speed 1333mhz so i down clocked it in the bios to 1066 and hopefully its fixed it and is more stable
i had the same problem , now mine running reallly goood... simple way to fix that (restart your computer) (press f8) and then (go to save mode) after save mode starts clcik ( on Accessories) right click on command prompt click run as adminster and there write "sfc\scannow" this will scan all the dll courrpt files and repair them automatically and reboot it and the problem is fix thank you.
Yea when ever i played like Runescape or Soldier Front or any type of game or even browse the internet it freezes and i don't know how to fix it. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
@TekGR erm i think i may off fixed mine i have ram with the speed 1333mhz so i down clocked it in the bios to 1066 and hopefully its fixed it and is more stable
I'm having the same problems. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.
It will randomly freeze for a a minute or two and then all of a sudden, everything I did during the freeze will show. It's not unbearable, but can be annoying while watching videos.
This problem is reported by so many users all over the Internet, we can't do something that wrong. Especially considering that I was running Windows XP without any kind of problem before.
Purely for simplicity: didn't want to risk a 64bit setup. Also, It is quite overspecced: I only ever watch films, tv, play music, browse internet or check email.
u need at least 4.0ghz processor and 12gb ram to stop the lag...

Step 1: Open task manager
Step 2: Click End Task to quit not responding programs
Step 3: Install a application watcher tool
Step 4: Shut down if problems persists
Step 5: Turn on
Congrats!

1. Utilise Faster DMA IDE Data Transfer Modes on IDE Slave Drives
2. Defragment and Clean the Registry
3. Disable Network Icon and Other Unnecessary Icons in the Notification Area
4. Disable unnecessary programs at the startup
you should use Reginout tool to fix this problem.
