@kingsandqueens01 that was just an idea because it isn´t a bad idea to be on the lookout for bad guys or strange things/cars/persons around the prison, but i think the major use is as said escort service, maybe for closing intersections when the prison transport passes code3
but i don´t know at all i´m not from the united states, may somebody else knows better =)
@kingsandqueens01 As a Former Correctional Officer,I can tell you,A OFFICER BADGE carries a Lot of clout, in and out of the Prison,but V P or Vehicle Patrol is to not only , keep the world safe on the outside from possible escape,but also their job, is the last resort of stopping escaped inmates or keeping others from helping inmates from possible escape.
@kingsandqueens01 NJ DOC correction officers are Sworn LEOs while on duty and off and are to uphold criminal code 2c.. so ur above statement is false. secondly the bike is most likely a trail vehicle for an inmate transport
@jerryjuicebag the first is used for the case of riots or hostage situations and the fire truck because it is an islan and second they can´t use regular firefighters in a prison
why does the the njdoc need bikes? They dont need bikes for anything in prison besides helping the prisoners escape

in the summer if i lose trial ill be in the NYC corrections bus i wonder if they shackle you while on the bus
