  • That is pretty rad!

  • perfect, like a straight Banana:-)

  • Shame on you !!!

  • I am ex italian projectionist from Rome:

vai a vendere le patate...fai meno danni!

  • yes this is Hercules Thai's dub version

  • Is that Hercules in a foreign language?

  • THAT WAS BRILLIANT!

So many of us projectionists are stuck using platter systems..... they take out all the fun of the reel change!

Excellent skill and thanks for putting the video up! Ive never worked reel to reel but I hope some day that I will!

As I have said.... amazing talent there! Quick fingers!

  • @peterbruce: beleive me: This is not, what's called: Reel to reel!

  • oh. im surprised... cos clearly you are changing from one reel to the other... i know its also called a changeover... but do you have another word for it over there?

  • @ megaplexprjectionist: a changeover, or "reel to reel", like -I suppose, peterbruce had only heared of- is performed on TWO projectors, you prepare the 2nd machine with the second part whilse the first part is beeing screened with the first machine, and so forth..

  • . Before the first part reaches the end (round the first Endmark, if applied), you start the 2nd machine's motor at the right Countdown second ( -may vary: about 7 to 3 secs) and when the previous part reaches its end (second Endmark- if applied) +reaction time (may vary:-)), you "change over" sound and light to the other machine, unremarkable for the audience (if present) , in case your timing is good, in peace for the projectionist and for the Movie-copy!

  • Of coarse you'll need for that the classical outfit of classical theaters, which means: two (equal) and wired projectors! Cineplexxxes don't have that, I know.... regards, H.

  • ah yes, I have seen a number of cinemas in Amsterdam with this exact setup... although I swear they referred to it by a different name... must be a local slang thing. I understand exactly what you are on about, and enjoyed reading your posts. im not often on youtube anymore, so if you want to contact me again, (which id like!) simply pm me and i will provide my email - if it isnt already on here somewhere!

  • Very good!!

  • Don't listen to Lasher. He's just one of my uptight Film-Tech forum co-horts. Have fun and it definitely takes talent to have that much fun!!

  • No, this is not a returned print. In Thailand when the licence was expired (about 4 -5 years), print must return to film company to destroy, some will end up as film scrap. This is cheap ( about 20$ per copy) and this is what we're playing with. Just like you said we never can get fresh print from film rental company , they only service to professional. Anyway , thanks for all comment :-). Next time i will setup two projector. It may not fun but it will prevent the prints from more damage

  • Shame on you!

  • only for fun? And the customers sitting in the auditorium? And the print permanently damaged?

I'm a real projectionist and I say: Shame on you.

  • Dear god... that hurt me to watch... I cringed through the whole thing... look at the emulsion scratches on the print...

  • This is unprofessional way , no argue with that, we do this just only for fun :-)

But in the real show.Header-footer must be remove from show reel and film was heavy-wax

if you focus on the first step, the reel has been stop for a few moment

then, he flip the film to face the emulsion side away from reel

this will prevent scratch in the picture area (horizontal line scratch can be occur if you do this wrong)

Just try this,It will surely pump your Adrenalin in every reel

  • when you do this "only for fun", consider that the film will now be scratched for whoever runs it after you do. If you absolutely must do this, do it with a film print you own. Anyone doing this with a rented film print should be shot, drawn and quartered.

  • In Thailand this is common way to run outdoor movie

it required only single projector to run whole movies (may be up to 4 or until sunrise).

  • remind me never to send a film print to Thailand

  • You know there are such things as video projectors (they make most of them in your country) On average they're cheaper than a 35mm setup, you can pull out one DVD (or video tape) and put the next one in and you haven't knackered a perfectly good 35mm print for the next person who uses it.

I'm thinking of sending a copy of this to wherever you rent your films from.

  • A lot of good it did for you to go through all that, you needed to stop it anyway to re-frame it!

What an incredibly un-professional way to run a movie.

  • Never thought I'd see something so thoroughly unporfessional...
