  • I was at this show, loved every minute of this show. One of my favorites shows of all time. Fun show. I was 30 then. Longtime Deadhead, Deadhead forever, 29 years now. Bruce was the best, every show he did with the Dead made the band that much better. I think he was having fun being part of the band and playing that music. So thankful for the Dead and all the jambands.

  • i love you jerry !

  • God i just miss this.So many good times with jerry and the boys

  • I wonder who can keep a jam longer Jerry or Clapton

  • this was actually part of an hourlong show all about this run that aired on a program ABC had on at the time on Friday or Saturday nights like around midnight- they had this performance from the 6/17 sow along with the previous night's Saint of Circumstance on and a Miracle from that night as well along with hilarious backstage interviews with Jerry and Bobby discussing the rainforest and hawking cereal that benefited the rainforest cause lol

  • @DJaker84 Thanks for the info!

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! What is this video from?

  • Pure bliss-I was on the floor at this show as the soft rain falls and the Dead open with an Eyes for the ages with Bruce Hornsby jammin with Jerry no less

  • i was at this show on the floor-pure bliss as the boys open with Eyes as the soft rain falls down-good jams on the keys from Bruce Hornsby on this version...

  • part 2-nothing like 75,000 heads at giants stadium in unison swayon to Eyes of the World!

  • the younger keyboardist looks absolutely blown away by what he is a part of :D

    rightly so!

  • @hendrixphish420

    that's bruce hornsby dude ;)

  • @hendrixphish420 - It is the exact opposite. The younger guy-Hornsby-was very comfortable with the Dead and played note to note with them.It was the other guy-Welnick-who was filled with doubt and a lack of confidence.Hornsby was such a perfect match even if he was not big on the B-3.Sadly,Welnick never could make the adjustment.

  • Magical!!!

  • part 2

  • HILARIOUS!!!

  • is there any artists currently performing still good? survivors gettin' old, neil young maybe ... dylan is like so funny, ... who's left? anybody new ? Cobain dead, ah well... discuss amongst yourselves...

  • Pure happiness...for a short time we were there.....yes it can happen..you

  • Great stuff, miss them so much! Thanks Jer!

  • Jerry is feelin it. I was at this one. Jumped the wall trippin balls. Great memories. My church, my proving grounds. Formative.

  • i love the reassuring look that Jerry gives Bruce at about the 4:00 mark its hillarious. it seems like bruce is gonna lose it then Jerry just smirks at him, and he knows it will be alright

  • does Brunce Horsby kinda have a white Tiger Woods thing goin?

  • I love the little smiles that Garcia and Hornsby shoot at each other every once in a while

  • Garcia's musical groove is uncomparable...

  • Classic Garcia.

  • Sickest eyes ever

  • I really loved the period when Bruce was in the band. He really blended well in the jams in my opinion.

  • @HaydenFromHell i love watching jerry and bruce do there thing

  • hornsby kinda reminds me of guy from forgetting sarah marshall

  • wish i went to this show -hornsby on the keys - awesome

  • take a screen shot in full screen

  • Yeah, right there, Jerry's in heaven.

  • @alexander5274 YES! Great smile. When HE's into it, it tends to be the best music!

  • @alexander5274

Pause the video at those points, do a screenshot, then paste in paint. Cut out the part you want, open a new paint doc, then paste that in. Save as a JPG.

    Good luck!

  • Absolutely incredible...go ahead Jerry!

  • Holy Cow!!! Goose bumps through the whole thing!! One of the best EOTW I've heard!!! (At least for today)!!

  • Phil is pumping that bass, it's so alive.

  • THis Is Phil and Jerry at their best

  • @SexyAmbberi On second thoughts forget it !! Didn't realise you were just another porno site. Silly me !!!

  • @SexyAmbberi Hi Amber. I thought I'd just check you out. I'm a lapsed catholic too as well as being a Dead Head !! You are my dream. How do I email you ?

  • that clip was much more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. YO

  • What does that cute chick at the end say ?? Has anyone sussed it out ?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks. Don't know how you made that out as I couldn't. But then for years I thought "sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own" was "sometimes the songs of the year are just songs of our own". It works. Maybe I should write to Hunter !!

  • We'll be right back.

  • jerry...so...happy

  • Very nice video. Too bad they didn't pan the audience more, or really at all. Without the fans, The Dead wouldn't have been shit...and vice versa of course.

  • Makes me dance with joy for what we had and weep with sorrow for what we lost. "The night comes so quiet, it's close on the heels of the day."

  • Not a bad version. It's always interesting. The Shoreline Eyes on Youtube is a little more together- Jerry is very with it and laying down some beautiful, fluid lines. He's a little disjointed here.

  • Bruce looks very uncertain on the lyrics of this tune.

  • @cutis1000 My take on it (call me a romantic) is that he is so honoured to be playing with the Dead he's a bit awestruck. It seems at one point that Jerry is encouraging him to be himself and let it flow. I'd never heard of Hornsby but he looks a really nice guy and his keyboarding fits right in. I don't think the Dead would've taken him on unless they'd somehow felt he was in synch with them.

  • Well, that's a nice romantic spin, Poltergeist. But I wonder how early on in the tour this show is from? I mean, honestly, Bruce looks very lost!

  • No no for sure what U say is true. Watched this a good few times. It's great and I've got to notice that more and more. Love the Dead so much it's difficult to find anything negative. Jerry looks like Father Christmas out there !! Really happy. When he was having a good night is he something. This is such a beautiful song. Hunter is a very underestimated lyricist. The words and the music go together perfectly. What's weird is that Barlow is so good as well. They're both great in their own ways

  • How many strings are on that bass?

  • Comment removed

  • It is a six string bass.

  • my first show was a hornsby 6-1-91 LA wow did he fit right in, too bad there was only a handful with bruce.

  • AWESOME - I am not a dead head - but I always loved this song!

  • 5:22 - 5:27. Jerry in perfect form

  • it scared Bruce to see him like that...

  • he looked happy

  • Thank you soooooooooooooooo much.

  • We'll all be seeing Jerry soon!!!

  • @Crimble67 i never thought of it llike that! nice

  • Wow..one of the best vids i ever seen..freal..and agree with that 3-5 min trip to a high place that they always somehow..got ya to..best band ever..so orchestrated and together...rare these days;

  • Comment removed

  • The part from 3:00 to 5:00 is honestly one of the best things in the whole world.

  • I have to agree with you on that one. PRICELESS musical conversation between Jerry and Bruce...two of the all time greats.

  • my first show.....good times

  • Ain't it great!

  • Wouldn't it be great if we were all greeted by Jerry at the pearly gates when we die?

  • Hey, why not? Heaven's a real place indeed! Everything you want is there. You can follow the scene for 100 years, hang-glide for another 100, visit grandma, etc

  • I want to go out and find this show now. Great vid. Anyone know if this is a Dicks Pick or is out on an album/dvd somewhere?

  • BOBBY DUKES!

  • There's Bruce doing his best Brent Mydland...

  • spiritual

  • Nun uf yoos has a cents uf HUMOR!!!

    Rok on!

  • Bob's guitar was never actually plugged in

  • i can hear him. and if you can hear a guitar over 2 drummers, 2 keyboardists, another guitar and a bassist, then hes plugged in.

  • dumbest comment I've seen on u tube, Bobby is amazing!

  • Bob has allot of "phase" on his guitar. Likely an MXR phase-100. It makes his tone fade into the rest of the music. It's there, you have to watch him and listen for a "wooooshing" (is that a word?) sound. Once you find it you'll agree that Bobby is fan-freaking-tastic!

  • Took me along time to come around, but now I see the magic in The Dead. The joy of watching these guys do what they love is the magic. When Bruce was with them they were at their tightest.

  • i think a lot of old time deadheads would disagree.

  • 06-17-91 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J. (Mon)

1: Eyes> Walking Blues, B. E. Women, Masterpiece, Loose Lucy, Cassidy> Might As Well

    2: Saint> Ship Of Fools> Dark Star Jam> Truckin> New Speedway> Uncle John> Jam> Drumz> China Doll> Playin Reprise> Sugar Magnolia E: The Weight

Little Feat opened - "Dark Star" tease before "Masterpiece" - "Dark Star" theme during "Jam" - last first-set "Eyes": 08-13-75 [1083] - last "Dark Star Jam": 06-23-74 [1110]

  • Which show was this?

  • drummer78...if you've never seen mickey playing a jackhammer...or a freight train horn...then you haven't lived

  • As an outside observer, it seems that Bill does most of the real drumming work and Mickey just kind of lays back with some accents. Am I wrong? Help inform a non-Dead-head.

  • This is awesome!

  • What an amazing, great song by a legendary band.

This version rocks! This show must have been awesome!

  • Watch at 3:34 That brought tears to my eyes. Look at Jerry and Bruce, how can you describe that other than to say it was magical!

  • I was at this show, and have seen the Dead since 1969, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. It would make a great Dicks Picks!

  • that was the style way back then

  • i was in the parking lot 30mins. before the show with my finger in the air.some brother lays a 5th row floor ticket on me with a backstage pass for face value what a show!!!!!!!

  • i was at this show! i was 16 years old...

  • My personal favorite GD tune..I havent followed the thread, but Buddhism makes sense to me naturally. Supposedly, Jesus was a student of Buddhism.

  • There is no "end" to buddhism or buddhists for that matter. Reincarnation is a big belief. Not reincarnation as a just a human, but as any living creature.

  • Buddhism is the truth, unfortunatly for you...we mock what we dont understand

  • Remember this one well, rain just stopped ran into a group of friends and exchanged hugs, eyes started playing and we started dancin!! Great show, day before was not. When the gd did the Sun-Mon thing at Giants Monday was always the night!

  • i was at this show (18 years old) and these were my first ones! the first nite, we kept walking and got to the second row during set break! it was the closest ive ever been at a concert, and remember 2nd sett seeing jack straw, china/rider, black peter and others...it was incredible.

thanks so much for posting this - cheers!!!!!

  • Seek Buddhism...

  • This is still my favorite song ever and this was the first show I went to.

  • Absolutleeeeeeeeeee incredible ..At their finest!!

  • magic!

  • i think this was the only time EVER that they played this song as an opener 1st set. i could be wrong, but i think im right. good tunes-good times

  • 60.000 people stopped listening after part 1!!!?? this song is wonderful!

  • This is legendary. Classic

  • this was a Killer show, I WAS THERE!! :)

  • wow all i can say is im almost glad vince isnt here to read the shit you people post about him. sure he wasnt my favorite gd keyboardest but have some fuckin respect for the man that helped to make the show go on and carry jerry for a few years as well.

  • JEEEEEERRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

  • Rumor has it the Deads soundman at the time was in charge of all of the cheesy type effects you hear Vince switch to...all Vince heard in his monitor was piano, the rest he had no control over!

  • The rest of the band doesn't look too happy with were Vince is going with this.

  • Bruce was just a much better fit for the Dead's style of music. Unfortunately he had his own career to pursue but at least we had him for a short while. Vince's sound, both his playing & vocals, just never jelled that well with the overall texture of the Dead's music.

  • I remember hearing Bill Payne from Little Feat was going to take the spot. That actually would have been sweet! It was probably just a rumor though.

  • Look at those freakin shorts

  • haha thts wat i was thinkin

  • 4:00 - 4:20 ^^

  • wish i was there. My God.

  • Excellent quality. Jerry jams.

  • Excellent quality. Jerry jams. Must see!

  • I watched every second and man... what a lineup jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Vince Welnick and Bruce Hornsby. It doesnt get much better then that..

  • i was 11 when this happend, i wish i was there
