I have the Motorola Droid and I can tell you that it is no killer. It's one step above a Microsoft phone and a fantastic attempt to make things new and better, but it falls short. It launches applications on it's own. It seems to have a poor touch recognition. Overall, no killer. Think of it this way: it's like owning a Ferrari that is always in the shop.

The actual phone is made by HTC which is a company with a pretty good track record, Google just branded it and they have the new 2.1 Android software on the device. I personally like the fact the OS is open source and supports open development from developers, it probably won't convert the majority of iPhone users though simply because people have already invested so much money in app purchases, each phone has their strengths/weaknesses, also have to factor in the carrier of a phone

Android is awesome. I have had an iPhone and a Windows Mobile phone.. Both are kind of clunky to work with and the apps are expensive.. Android is intuitive and there are thousands of free apps for it to do anything you want. The google integrated apps are great because it consolidates everything and connects it so well..

I too was a bit wary of android, until I used it for about 2 days and realized it is far superior to the others.

I do agree though..Whatever works best for you..

HTC makes the Nexus... HTC also helped develop the iPhone (and many other mobile devices throughout the years).. The google phones by HTC are not iPhone-Like they are superior to the iPhone.. The iPhone costs 600 or more bro. They both cost $200 under contract. It also has twice the RAM and twice the Processer of the iPhone. It runs android 2.1 as well, which I would rather have than the iPhone OS, but they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. A camera with flash and 5.0 megapixels instead of no flash and 3.1 sums it up for me. An outer mic for improved sound quality. I would also prefer it because it will be out on Verizon which means better coverage and half the price.
