  • ritchie can be an asshole effortlessly.

  • roflmao, I love how he suddenly forgot Coverdale's name.

  • I'm just surprised he has some old strats that he hasn't broken!

  • I hope the poor guy did`nt get the strat smashed over his head after refretting it.

  • Blackmore is the only guitarist who can play Smoke On The Water and i enjoy listening to it ..anybody else that plays it just makes me say.."You're Not Ritchie Blackmore!"

  • does he use vox` amps

  • WOW! I haven't seen this in ages. It's in my VHS collection somewhere. Thanks for posting this.

  • I think he's talking bullshit here. We all now that purple started with smthg like gibson semi-hollow and he switched to fender to follow Jimi. I also can't imagine someone evening the fingerboard after scalloping. they would simply replace it with new or it would be too thin to scallop again.

  • wrong on everything. educate urself about the guitar as instrument more before u call bs ;)

  • you're a devoted fan! that's cool and stupid simultaneously

  • ur an ignoramus who knows nothing about guitars. me, ive been building them for 17 years, thanks.

ur statements were 'stupid', not mine.

nothing to do with me being a fan of this guy, which i am not.

  • @assa123assa123 Actually he used a strat and a semi hollow in the early days. Look harder.

  • What song is playing 2:34?

  • sail away

  • oops, yes it's Sail Away :-}

  • Hard Lovin' Man, from Deep Purple In Rock (1970)

  • Tawny said David aint got no dik ! she couldnt find it and got a real man !

  • How cool of him to mention Mountain! That´s one of my favourite bands, too. Blackmore, one of the ultimate guitarists!

  • "we did in rock, which is one of my favorites. then we did fireball [gillan's personal favorite], whick is not one of my favorites, and then we did machine head, which, again, is one of my favorites"

    blackmore loves to hate gillan!

  • To me In Rock is the hardest, Fireball is the most interesting because every song offers something different and Machine Head is the best as a unity! 3 GREAT ALBUMS!

  • Hey, Still of the Night is a really good song i reckon

  • What a self aggrandising twat. and waht a total lack of respect for David Coverdale.

  • Lol, respect for coverdale?... even i don´t have any respect for Coverdale, why should Ritchie have it?

  • yeah me too, he got good songs but I dont know, after 2 years from DP he changed his way, and hes not on my top.

I prefer gillan, dio, robert plant

  • David who?

  • Agree. Even if Coverdale is not the greatest vocalist of all time - a little more respect doesn't hurt. Even if you're Ritchie B. And he whine about Gillan, and about this, and about that, but he is himself a monster of egotism. Blablabla - I'm listening the guitar but nothing more. Sounds like you cannot believe a word from what he says.

  • Candice Night is hot and Ritchie looks better than before too. It's strange, but he really looks younger than when he was in Purple.

  • heavymetalkicksass at 1:22 there is "Hard Lovin'man"

  • GREAT INTERVEIW

  • That guitar is as old as she is.

  • @tdolz but it sounds sooo fucking good

  • That thing he put on the end of his guitar is hilarious. Cozy Powell taking months to figure out that it did nothing...haha.

  • nevermind, i know the song is hard lovin man

  • whats the song at 1:22?

  • The band mentioned by Rich at the start of the interview is "mountain" fronted by Leslie West. They played at woodstock but disbanded in 1972. They were awesome and can properly described as pioneers. They were before Zeppelin, Sabbath and Steppenwolf. Mountain were the first.

  • My first rock concert was Mountain in 1973 at Miami Jai-Alai. Saw Sabbath in 1975, same venue. Zeppelin in old Tampa Stadium1976?77(3 songs, it rained for 20 minutes, they flew away in a helicopter, riots, cops, blood, bottles, my girlfriend passed out in someone's motel room): Saw John Kay's Steppenwolf in 1985, what was left of them after 20 years. Acid rock was my favorite as a teen. Now I like to play improv. Ritchie Blackmore's music has inspired many guitarists on the planet. Me included.

  • Best commercial guitar player ever.

I wish he would get together with Jon Lord and do Mandrake Root and Wring That Neck one more time.

  • one thing is for sure, this guy is NEVER a rock cliche, even down to her "old biddy" dress there

  • A really interesting video. Could someone please tell me the name of the band Ritchie mentioned in the beginning (not Vanilla Fudge but the other). Tried to listen to it a several times but couldn't hear the name. Probably mountain something.

  • It's "Mountain" in fact... though it's from the late 60's, so i don't know how much it influenced on early Purple's sound

And through this vid I discovered Vanilla Fudge... what to say, one of the greatest and most underated bands from all time

  • this is a compiliation made in 2003, most interviews are from '97 ..some are from 2002 theyre all from a blackmore dvd ive seen

  • i like Ritchie's expression when he says what happened when the guy told him about the neck at 5:53!! xD

and also about the thing at the headstock! xD

    at 6:57..

and also the quote "to annoy people". x]]

  • omg that is awesome. now i wanna go put one of those on the head of my guitar too! =p i like how he shredded on his oldest electric, though, sadly, I could barely hear it.

  • Despite his (often seen)attitude problem - Ritchie is a FUNNY GUY! I still like his stuff today! Long Live Rock'n'Roll!!!

  • Rock'n'roll is some kind of polytheism

  • interesting listening to him explain why he scallops his fret board, something other guitarists now do.

  • Clapton is God

    Ritchie is God

    santana is God

  • we the a guy in whoever he was - David Coverdale! LOL he still has it in for him. Blackmore = A genuine guitar genius and great!

  • Isn't that polytheism?

  • Blackmore. He is a genious. And for me he's like a god.

  • Ritchie is the man...His honesty pisses some people off, but he is not a prima donna and has technique and feeling like nobody's business. One of the few players I hold in regard in the league of EVH...One of the best there are out there..

  • This interview is amazing.

So much to learn first hand about those days.

Hmm .. nobody is like Ritchie Blackmore!

    He's the one.

    Respect!

  • damn the fret man xD

  • u da man!!!!

  • I LOVE YOU RITCHIE BLACKMORE!!!!!!

  • I like him. He seems to be down to earth and straight forward when he converses.

  • haw haw haw! did you hear Ritchie fumblin' around for the next Deep Purple singer's name?

"umm.. that guy.. uhh ... David Coverdale?"

     hehehehhehe!

  • the name of the song is Hard Lovin' Man from Deep Purple in Rock, 1970

  • 1.30 wat song is that if anyone have the song pls send it to latinoheat-star hotmail com

  • My god, he's a real me me me, kind of guy and a bit boring to listen to...

  • Ritche knows what he's doin, his wife is drop dead georgeous and Blackmores night is awsome, allthough i think he is getting the itch to fire up the Marshalls he just wont settle for anything. since Cozy passed away it Affected Ritche. He'will return he is a guitar GOD1

  • ritchie blackmore

    hah hah

    that motherfucker

  • Awesome! I love hearing Ritchie talk about his guitars, and the songs! :-)

  • hey man do you have any more of that video????? or any other taped Blackmore interviews?

  • he sounds more coherent and he was smiling a couple of times . Hope someday he and gillan cann be on talking terms. He need not go back to purple life is too short to hold grudges. Too late once someone is sick]

  • Ritchie looks and sounds good in this interview. Ditch the mustache, gotee and girl (OK she can watch from the wings) and pick up with the old bandmates and let it RIP! C'mon Ritchie, do at least one rock tour every 2 years.

  • Wonderful. I wonder what the source is for this clip. Thanks for uploading it.

  • ritchie is god! ditch Candice and get some kind of Coverdale, Hughes, Blackmore, Lord reunion. That would be awesome!
