  • This Stay My Beautiful Bra, Ehukai?!!!! Gorgeous Rendition of One Great Tune!! Mahalo Nui Loa & Aloha, Danielle

  • Nice piece! The music was beautiful; the two instruments sound real nice together. I particularly enjoyed the crickets and peepers in the background after you finished. It reminded my of the Dillards' "A Night In the Ozarks." Thanks!

PS: To Chip865: I don't know what you mean by the "modern bowed psaltery", but plucked AND bowed psalteries have been portrayed in many extant medieval tapestries, manuscripts, and painting. They've been around for centuries.

  • Beautiful!! I'm learning both instruments..!! And thoroughly enjoyed hearing them played together!

  • Thats like a Synthaney

  • very nice!

  • Not often I find music that moves my heart. This one does.

It gives you feeling you're really on medieval court.

  • He's playing an Omega Strings 37-string bowed psaltery. They're made by Richard Spencer and cost about $700. Very, very nice, but requires long arms to play.

  • Ok, I've discovered that the bowed psaltery is in fact a 37-string instrument from Omega Strings.

Now ... the dulcimer. Is it a bass or a baritone? Who was the builder? Hope one of the musicians might reply.

  • that reminds me to blackmoore's night... great!

  • Gentlemen, you are inspiring. I recently purchased a new mountain dulcimer and am learning to play it. I was going through some internet dulcimer music when I happened upon your beautiful duets. I really hope you would be willing to post more music - you both play beautifully!!

  • Nice music! May i know where did you get that Psaltery from? it looks nice

  • nice work gentlemen

  • Very nice! You really bring out the wonderful sound on the dulcimer and psaltry. Very very nice.

  • I want a psalter! :O i Love the sound!

    good work!

  • Outstanding!!! I love the combination of the two old biblical instruments playing such a beautiful song. And both being played by exceptional musicians. Kudos.

  • The psaltry was invented in 1925.

  • The modern bowed psaltery was indeed invented in early 20th century. But the Psaltery as a plucked or strummed instrument was mentioned in several places in the Bible. It was played by King David. The dulcimer is also mentioned. I am sure that the modern instruments are much different than the originals...such as steel strings, modern materials. But the instruments ARE mentioned in the Bible.

  • The Appalachian Dulcimer isn't really very biblical, sorry.

  • It's pretty, though. :)

  • its based on the european version of the dulcimer, which is based on the middle eastern vesrion which is from biblical times

  • Well, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that the Appalachian Dulcimer isn't.

That way you can trace any instrument back to biblical times or earlier.

But it is an amazing instrument, anyhow.

  • No, actually very few instruments have confirmed lineages going that far back.

  • As a Mountain Dulcimer player, why don't you kiss the fattest part of my ass. I'll give ya biblical, find me the jawbone of an ass. Just listen to the music and enjoy. Isn't very biblical...like, who cares?

  • very nice ,love the the bugs too in the background .

  • The backgroud accompaniments are acually the magic Hawaiian tree frog whistleing in harmony ..... known as the coqui ( co-key )

  • Very well done

  • I've never heard of a psaltery before.
