pretty cool to see Angola like this , Ive been being taught a very robotic restrictive regional form here in Canada with "moves" and a wrong and right way of doing everything ... PSHHHH
y todavia conozco gente que se pregunta si la capoeira angola es efectiva... e insisten en porner nombres a los estilos, mas aya del concepto ahi esta una demostracion ...
This is a great game, but danilothf posted this video already a while ago. Not to be a stickler, but when multiple users post the same video it waters down the ratings and favorites making it less like for capoeiristas and others to see it.
This video makes Angola look much more interesting than many others, but I fail to see how video ratings or favorites matter in the lest bit. Isn't the point of posting the video to share this unique nature of Angola, rather than claiming rights to a popular video? I disagree and think many users should post the video, thereby spreading the soul of Angola more and more.
By any chance is that the same one who teaches on 7th street in DC? Or somewhere downtown? Coincidentally two friends, not knowing neither knew the other well enough to say, told me of the same gentleman teaching. I'll have to ask of the location again.
Why thank you. Speaking of which, I see b-boy in your name, leading me to the somewhat obvious, providing that I am reading it correctly. If you do not mind me asking, did you by any chance learn breaking in the district as well? If so, I've been looking for some place to wise up on it since my diploma years back.
Hmmm I'm just wondering how much the diverse styles within capoeira, allows for an overlap, since it is a dynamic martial art form, so you have to expect changes within and how much does it allow external influences integrate within the diversity of styles? Nice, 'natural' looking vid though Thanx & ache
As always Mestre Cobra Mansa impresses, but I was particularly impressed with Mestre Espirro. I've seen him play alot of fast paced acrobatic games, but this is the first time I ever saw him play an angolian game. Cobra is the Man, but Espirro is no punk either.
Espirro Mirim is the name of the Mestre going against Mestre Cobra Mansa. Cobra Mansa got famous through out Brazil during the eighties travelling to different cities and showing capoeira angola to all the regional groups, at that time, very few people were practicing angola, that´s the begining of capoeira angola´s revival, and the end of all prejudism and false conceptions about capoeira angola, he shows how real and objective it really is, we all owe GCAP Mestres for it.
Hey! I remember this song from my first ever capoeira class. I lived in Brazil because my dad is from Brazil, but I never got into capoeira when my brothers did. Now I wish I taken the chance, plus most classes are free for kids in Brazil lol. anyway yeh great video, Angola is just a better martial art than regional... if it wasn't then the Brazilian police would catch most people, with no problem or fear of getting their ass kicked.
Capoeira is purely Brazilian. Capoeira is a word from Tupi language (native brazilian indians), which means vegetation that grows after putting a forest down. It was never born in Africa. It was created here in Brazil by african slaves. Try travelling to Angola and asking if they know Capoeira.
Who ever you uare you are soooo mistaken! CAPOEIRA (ANGOLA) comes from the ancient spiritual syatem of NGOLO. I would tell you more but then I would be doing all of your research for you. You sound so sure of yourself by denying Capoeira Angola its true Angola Roots. Paz & Amor...Omali
Absolutely wrong. Capoeira comes directly from Angola, africa, from a martial called, surprise! Engolo! It is documented. It was brought intact by slaves and only transformed through stylization.
Nice vid and its nice to see a mestre of regional playing at the same level as a mestre de angola... Like mestre Cajaquinha(I think thats how you write it) There is only 1 capoeira style can change but the birimbau decides if you play standing up or on the ground :D
I've been watching a couple of these capoeira video's and I'm beginning to understand a bit more of what's going on. It's pretty incredible the element that the constant feinting has, you get used to having a dynamic blind spot which is so necessary, first to address your perception of danger. And then to always be prepared to strike while off balance, and to always keep multiple exit paths. It's a beautiful matial art.
Yes. But that's not the point: in capoeira you don't stand on your hands to give stronger blows. You do it to lure the opponent into thinking you're in a weak position.
This is a serious video. The beginning of this video is just plain NASTY. If I was there I probably would have lost my mind. I'm a Regoional practitioner and it makes me crack up to see that every video with angola vs regional, the regional practitioner gets made a fool of, lol. Angoleiros are sneaky as hell.
You never realise how much strentgh you need for capoeira angola (or regional, for those that don't know regional is the fast paced more standing up and more flip style)until you try lol! I used to think regional was the best but now i see how amazing angola is (although i like both styles, though reigonal looks kler to the untrained person).
The two Mestres in this video clip are Mestre Cobra Mansa(man with dreads) and Mestre Espirro Mirim. This game was at the 1995 Capoeira Encounter organized by Mestre Marcelo in San Francisco. I have seen the video and this game is one of my favorites, Mestre Marcelo is my teacher and i have met with Mestre Espirro Mirim
