@klyspeez Tell that to the Japanese who also happen to dub every disney movie out there. The fact is, dubs are not a bad thing, and the English dub of Sailor Moon, though I will always prefer the original Japanese version, has its moments. One of which being Sailor Moon telling Nehellenia, "I still pity you" -- in the original, all she talks about is not losing to her. Much more powerful in English. Anyway, that's just one small example. Sailor Moon is awesome in all forms.

@klyspeez Again, that's a fallacy of logic, because you haven't compared EVERY single Japanese performance to EVERY single foreign language counterpart. Example: In the KH series, Kairi's Japanese VA is horrendous. I largely prefer her English voice actor. In Sailor Moon, I do agree with you. I feel that the Japanese Sailor Senshi have better-suited voices. But that doesn't mean the English dub is "insulting." That's another fallacy. In short, I love Sailor Moon in every single medium/dub.

@waterkeeper511 compare the original dialogue of this vid with what is portrayed in the dub and u ll understand what i am saying , japanese actors can show tremendous emotion (when the senshi die for the first time for example) , u really feel the pain , in english it is just cheesy and cheaply done

@klyspeez Trust me, I know what you're talking about. I agree that the voice actors show more emotion and I already told you I prefer them over the English actors.

HOWEVER.

In the Japanese version, Moonlight densetsu plays in the background. When I first saw that, it felt really awkward to me. I greatly prefer "Carry On" because I feel it more strongly relates to the scenes shown.

I'm just trying to show that it's not all about the voice acting. The English dub has its perks, warts and all.

@waterkeeper511 I agree. I think this scene is significantly better/stronger in DiC's dub than it is in the original. "Moonlight Densetsu" is out of place, lyrically and musically, whereas "Carry On" was composed specifically for this moment and it shows. Much of this dialogue and the VA's performances I even feel are as good as or better than the Japanese. Terri's determination on "I'm not letting you win this one", Stephanie's wistfulness in "We haven't known each other long enough" etc.

While I share a similar distaste for the edited dub, I truly applauded all of the english voice actors for their performances. In spite of everything, they understood the characters, their motivations and quirks and knew how to express them(of course, that was until most the original DiC cast got replaced Post-S) genuinely. If Funimation does decide to license it (if the reception from Italy is positive), I hope they put forth effort to rehire the dubbing cast from the two seasons.

I was never a fan of the English dub do to too many edits like Dragonball beforhand"Dragonball has been corrected at least" If toei actually remastered this I'd buy it since I'm a fan of the original Japanese version. Wonder if Pony Canyon had anything to due with it^^

This is reigon one footage folks. It was more then likely cleaned with several programs.

This video actually looks very good. I like the quality and color, it's very clean. For this video, did you clean up the Region 1 footage with software? Or sync the Region 2 DVD picture with the english audio? I'm just stumped on those because frankly, I can't figure it out. Anyways I rate this video 5 stars, and I favourited it.

Triumph, It's region one footage cleaned. It's easy to tell the difference. For me anyway, I own both sets R1 and R2.
