I tried to buy a 1960 Falcon in 1978 with only 18,000 org miles from a 90 year man who lived 3 doors up from me then !! It was powder blue with a blue interior white steering wheel well such as life !! and it was in MINT COND
I'm confused about something: from what I read the Ford Thunderbird featured here was the 1958-1960 model, and it was redesigned for 1961. So how could Thunderbird be a new "Ford" in this ad for 1960?
How far have we advanced? Back in 1960 Ford stated the Ford Falcon could do 30 miles per gallon. We have been duped. It proves to make any engine move a car it takes a minimal amount of gallons of gas to do it and except for electric cars it appears 30 miles a gallon will be our threshold unitl we all live like the "Jetsons" with a "hover car" and become "Star Trek" people. !!!! Where is Thomas Edison when I needs him???
In Argentina it pays a great tribute to this car, making a classic-car It also led to a series of speed Comptencies called TC. (Manor Road) Has much fans can watch the videos on youtube. " Thanks. I myself had three falcon in Argentina So, long live the Ford Falcon. Thanks. Robert Mc Namara.
I had a 60 Falcon 4-door like that one, & I never got close to 30 mpg. Might have had something with the fact that I spent too much time with my foot buried in the carb. I got more like 15 until I changed the Ford-o-matic for a 3-speed manual. That gave me about 22 mpg. Probably would have been better if I'd drove a little more gently, but what the hell--you're only 18 once, right. I'd have another one in a second, so it couldn't have that bad.
They lied about the T-Bird. "58, '59 and '60 were essentially the same car. Of all three models shown,Bob McNamara's Falcon, which King Henry II hated but Lee Iacocca championed, was the biggest seller. The full sized Fords were a sales bomb in 1960, looking fat and ungainly, being a heavily facelifted version of the '59, which was also a turkey. Ford cleaned up their act for '61 with a whole new line and sales picked up. Iacocca would later turn the Falcon into the Mustang.
I would take all three cars , 1960 was great year.

my now defunct '94 Nissan Sentra looked like a modern incarnate of the '60 Ford Falcon. Just goes to show, everything old becomes new again.

Hard to believe this was 50 years ago - and nearly 29 years before I was born!

From what I read the Thunderbird wasn't redesigned until 1961... as for the other two, they were new for 1960.

Cars, these cars, especially cars of this era, deserve an opera. They ARE beautiful. Great ad, and actually pretty catchy. Thanks for sharing.
