SANITY DAYS(band):Ex members of Onslaught including Steve Grimmett have formed to play some festivals next year(2012)playing the ISOS album in its entirety.
Bought this album when i was 17. I heard this song first on a free plastic floppy record in Kerrang way back in 1989. Heard this song and thought F**king awesome. Bought the album a few days later...still sounds great now!
I was 16or so years(when I bought this album) and I was a little disappointed but its just gettin better n better... now I am 40 years young. and now its sounds like insanity or so...
good on ya for keeping this track going. It still features in my top 10 of great music.
It sounded fanastic then, even though it was on vinyl, and now, to date, its just matured and now sounds even more fantastic......thanks for posting it on YT
The vocals in this song, especially in the chorus, kicks so much ass that it's ridiculous. Some may say the vocals suck but I think it's some of the best I've heard.
This album blew me away! Thrash here is raw and powerful, angel witch cover sounds very good, nice to hear acdc cover, but the most exciting thing is the epic Welcome to dying!!! Waiting for their concert on april-11 in Vilnius! Thrash till death brothers! \m/
you cant go wrong with this album i got a back patch on my leather jacket of this album cover, i wear my denum and leather with pride, THRASH TIL DEATH!!
However with Power From Hell, the band were still finding their identity back then and Venom were one of their heaviest influences so of course it's gonna come through in the writing. Just like Kill 'em All is pretty much Lightning to the Nations sped up a little.
@xSODxDeMoNiaC Venom were nevr an influence on early Onslaught, they grew up listening to Discharge and other hardcore PUNK bands and turned to metal when they heard early demos/albums by the likes of Metallica, slayer, anthrax, exciter and yes,Venom are a NWOBHM band, for some reason people seem to think they are an early black/death/thrash metal band!!!!?
@REDPUNK1VINYL I never said they were an influence on early Onslaught. In fact, read it again. That was the exact opposite of what I said. And I know Venom was a NWOBHM band, however the reason for the ambiguity is hardly unbelievable. I'm well aware of Onslaught's early influences, thanks.
@xSODxDeMoNiaC It says here "Venom were one of their heaviest influences" relating to PFH which was early Onslaught, can't see how that is the exact opposite???? though you're correct in stating that Onslaught were still finding their identity though with 3 albums and 3 different vocalists its hard to say if they ever found it,I guess The Force is the one that everybody relates to.
@REDPUNK1VINYL Holy fucking shit. I missed the second comment I made, and only read the part were I said that 'Onslaught were hardly a copy of Venom'.
My bad, dude. They were listening to Venom before the release of PFH, and as such, did influence them to an extent, as Nige has said, both to myself and others. But on that particular album, the hardcore scene at the time was a much more significant influence.
Also, I fucking love this band. In-fucking-credible live.
@xSODxDeMoNiaC I salute your honesty on the slight cock up,I was dreading that this would turn into a(nother)youtube argument just because we had a differing opinion,I never heard any of the band from the PFH period stating Venom as a particular influence and didn't realise that Nige has stated otherwise so probably my bad aswell. I agree that they are a major force on the live arena no matter what the line up was/is even back to the pre PFH days right up to the SOV days and beyond.
@REDPUNK1VINYL I'm not really interested in arguing with another decent metalhead, mate. Debate and discuss sure, but not argue.
And Onslaught have always been the kind of band to come out and talk to the fans after and before shows. Been to see them a few times now, and every single time I've been able to at least say hi and share a few words with someone from the band, and are more than happy to answer questions like that. Fantastic guys, to be honest.
@Demoz818 By that you mean Sy Keeler, the guy who sang on their best album to date, The Force.
You sir, are a dick. Steve Grimmet is good, but this isn't the album Onslaught wanted to record. Sy was sacked by the record company, so they could make a quick buck from a dying thrash scene that had been forced towards a more melodic sound.
I've spoken to Nige, and he says this album is the only thing they've ever regretted recording, purely because Sy wasn't on it.
@xSODxDeMoNiaC If what you said was true that they regret making this album, then they made a huge mistake saying that !! Actually this a better THRASH album than The Force which sounded like a copy of venom and some NWOBHM, having a more melodic thrash and QUALITY sound doesn't mean they are trying to sell, this album isn't mainstream, this is what "evolving" is like and not the way most people think nowadays. Nige must be really humble to say that, but i should say GOOD JOB instead ;)
@Jon0Davis Woah, shit. I'm not comparing the two albums, or trying to say which is better. I'm also not saying the band themselces wanted to sell more records. It was the record companies decision. The band didn't have a say. It's a great album and a testament to the bands songwriting ability to be able to write different styles of thrash.
Also, The Force is not anymore a copy of Venom than any other thrash record is. Power From Hell is a closer comparison.
I really enjoyed their comeback album with Keeler but this one's my favorite for sure. I love the more melodic approach of the songs which makes it far more superior than their first two albums and Steve Grimmet does one hell of a job here. Why can't new thrash bands sound like this?
When I get back from Ireland i'm going to get a tape to mp3 convertor and the first album I shall do is this one, after all these years its still head and shoulders above some of the S**t that passes for metal
@Davethebus dead right, i owned the vinyl, just bought this on amazon. this was on of the best brit thrash albums. dare i say this lot were up there with metallica. way better than what a lot of the american bands were producing at the time. purely a matter of taste of course..
