To all the "way to waste the taxpayers money" comments: You should look into what the government is really wasting your money on. Trying to fund science projects to help us understand our world better definitely beats it.
@doesmykeyboardwork NASA funds the research and launch and it was launched from Austrialia to get a view from to get a view from the southern hemisphere.
I doubt the Land Rover is down for good, after all, it is a Land Rover and there is a reason that 75% of them from 1948 to present are still being used.
To bad about the payload, however they still learned some thing from the experience.
hahahahaha lmao..... know that's funny !! we actually needed that to happen and that because nothing like this ever happens in Australia enjoy people.. aw yeah shout-out to MEMO N HUSS
Justin, I didn't know you could run so fast. :) (@ 23secs) You should put your 4wd on e-bay and sell it. Only car in the world to be wiped out by a NASA balloon. :)

Thank God nobody is dead! What a tragedy for those who worked on it for years. They will be back up and at 'em. Can't keep us human grounded.

Shades of Skylab
But seriously that is a terrible thing to have happened
I hope it has not deterred any further efforts to use balloons for space launches
By the way the shot of the silken balloon skin descending is strangely beautiful
Try playing it in reverse and it looks like its taking off

@Choowbz They plan on launching one again in a few weeks... Of course though with a different payload.
