  • Brilliant series Rick, really helping me get to know my new camera, thanks.

  • how to get sharp pictures of moving objects/people without flash which is really blinding? thnx

  • I've just watched No 14 where you answered my question.

  • I wonder if you can explain why you prefer to set the image recording to RAW rather than Jpeg?

  • Hi I'd like to ask when I put it to AF mode the one that is on the lens it does not take picture at all? unless I turn to MF

  • your such a genius

  • i cant adjust that top slider bar. its grayed out and yes, I have it set to CA mode... okay now i can, I didnt touch anything though

  • @216kingDavid1 try closing the flash

  • i cant adjust that top slider bar. its grayed out and yes, I have it set to CA mode

  • I push the wrong button all the time instead of using the scroll wheel.

  • Thanks buddy, this is my first SLR...I found this really helpful!!!

  • thanks rick for making this vid, this vid is really helpful... i learn quite alot from it... thanks aain

  • These videos are very helpful Thanks so much

  • I have only watched the first 4 videos, but need to cram them all in as we are taking the camera on our honeymoon. On Auto mode, in daylight the flash wont pop up will it?? Sorry i am a complete novice with SLR's Also is it worth it getting a hood for the lense ? i have a 18-135 lense

  • @wozza6453 Hi and thanks for watching. I would recomend a lens hood as it will help reducs lens flare/glare which reduces contrast in images. It will also protect your lens when fitted should it be knocked. In auto mode the flash will fire if needed, or thought to be needed by the camera, say for fill in flash in a portrait shot.

  • your tutorials are great. i was wondering how you get a picture in black and white but only the color red for exemple pops out on my shirt for example and the rest is black and white

  • @alex737373 You take a picture of you, and then you do the effect your talking about with a special software, for example Adobe Photoshop.

  • again informative video on the CA feature of the EOS 500d great work bradders!

  • @newellgirl thank you. not been called bradders in years :) lol my dad use to get called that also.

  • I bought this camera today. I cant seem to get my pictures onto the laptop, Do I need to download the software first? Or should I just be able to plug it in and download them?

  • @Rafterman280 If your shooting in RAW then you will need to install Canon Digital Photo Professional that comes with the camera to view and process the files, if you shooting JPG (JPEG) then it should just work. Let me know a bit more info and I will see if i can help (send me a mail via youtube or my website) Rick

  • @Rafterman280 If you have the CD, install the DPP program as @rickjbradbury answered. If you don't have the program, you can download it free from Canon's site

  • I've learned so much from watching your videos. The way you show everything step by step, makes it so easy to understand. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos out.

  • Thanks everyone for the comments.

  • great series...very helpful...thanks

  • @pointcomfort Your welcome, thank you

  • Many thanks for these tutorials, so helpfull. Cant thank you enough. Keep up the good work

  • Top class effort mate, buying one of these in the next day or two, remember playing about with my dads Olympus om2 years ago but this will be my first dslr, have been checking out your videos and they are a massive help as I'm not a very techy person. I'm amazed at what these things are now capable of! Cheers!

  • it's really helps...thank you very much,for your videos...

  • Hi, I am watching your videos, they are so helpful!

I am beginner too, I love photography, this is my first dslr camera.

Have you posted the software and shooting tip vodeos?

That would be so great to watch! Thank you!

  • @shaninaiza Hi , thank your for viewing and commenting. I have covered some of the software more to come... its quite long winded so videos will prob run the full 10 mins. The shooting tips will be coming also.

  • If they had CA mode back when i was learning photography, i never would have learned properly.

  • @rumvodkaf1 what makes you say that? modes like these can help some people progress on to AV, TV or manual modes. They can help lay the basic foundations.

  • @rickjbradbury The millions of people who were able to learn photography on P, Tv, Av and M modes before CA mode was ever introduced into any camera makes me say that. I genuinely hope this mode helps some but i doubt it is anything other than another gimmick by Canon to add to the feature list of their rebel cameras.

  • mate thanks for putting this up, well done! cheers!

  • @wsn7777 no problem your welcome

  • Just go my camera today and must say watching your videos have given me an advantage to using it. I am a novice to DSLR and must say that you I really appreciate it. The videos are a bit long but are Class. Thanks!

  • @kerryth Thank you, yes some are long especially the ones wich cover the menus hopefully future ones will be a little shorter or a little more fun :)

  • Excellent commentary. keep up the good work!

  • @Skapete Thank you.

  • I don't mean to be ungrateful and I am enjoying your videos. But is there any way to get down to the subject matter so that these videos are a tiny bit shorter? Thx.

  • @jaystyles007 No problem any feed back welcome. The menu videos are a bit long I admit, the more advance one inparticular as Im trying to include enough information for beginners whilst covering all the options. Future videos will hopefully be shorter and more specific to shooting as well. I have produced the last of the menu videos so will be moving on to the software and also shooting tip videos soon. Thank you for your feedback. Rick

  • Again, really appreciate the videos. Just wonder if you could shave time off the video but changing the speed of delivery and not going over things previously discussed. Example: tutorial doesn't begin until 1.20 into the video.

  • Thank you for these videos. I just got a T1i (in the US) and I like the videos. Have a great day!

  • Thank You, If you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • i personally use Manual mod on cameras the most of any other mod.

  • Another Great Video Rick :D i cant wait to see what you do with the Manual Av and TV modes!!

  • @JPettsProductions Thanks... looking forward to getting in to the manual / semi manual modes. Will be covering menus in those ( a little boring but I feel needed due to custom menus) but also want to do videos in the field showing options for each type of shot.. and differernces between auto and advanced modes. Hance the need for camera man... thank you for offer by the way will give you a shout if needed. :)
