It means: "I don't think I would have said that". Or: "admitted/revealed that". Or: "... told that story". It's implied in the movie that most people would think it's embarrassing if your mother had two boyfriends at the same time and didn't know who the father was. So he's surprised that the other guy actually told that embarrassing story.
