  • They raced in the parking lot of Caesars palace. Lol

  • What if you want a smart phone or television with a big discount? See what I found on this video. You can get these at a massive discount online.

  • "11 tonnes" rather than 12" WTF? If an F1 car weighed that much it would be equivalent to 2 semi trucks with trailers attached.

  • Love the commentary, who is it? I've never seen these videos before. Thanks for posting.

  • 1:20 - "Andretti's Ferrari had Rosberg up its tail, and developed a rectal fissure of the rear suspension."

Why has it taken three years to point out that bit of commentary?

  • grande KEKE!!!

  • Why weren't there wings in 1982 F1 cars?

  • @TheZonda5002 ground-effect cars had small wings as they didnt need the extra downforce and the drag that comes with it, flat floor cars had big wings because they had no ground effect to suck them to the ground

  • Commentary by ozzie Clive James

  • dang i didnt even know F1 ever came to las vegas, let alone that there was even a track in LA...hopefully F1 followers will enjoy the permanent american circuit in Austin, Texas coming in 2012

  • Yes yes the Americans were ignorant, TALK ABOUT RACE HIGHLIGHTS.

  • your right classicf1 road america is amazing but in 1980 s was it safe for f1

  • Those were the days. Ciao Michele :(

  • Someone of you may know how the name of this music from the end of the movie? Is very climate and liked me.

    PS: Rosberg and Alboreto rules!

  • I agree with the first part.

America doesn't seem to care much about Formula 1, not the other way around. America loves their nascar.

  • Well, rumours are floating around that it might just happen. Champcar raced on a street circuit in 2007 at Las Vegas and it would be a great track for F1. It wasn't like a regular street circuit, the track was really wide and suprisingly not bumpy. And the racing action was great. I wouldn't be suprised if it would happen. F1 just needs to be in America, it's one of the biggest markets for most sponsors and manufacturers in Formula 1.

  • what series are these videos from? the commentary on them is great, hilarious stuff. i would love to watch this type of commentary on todays F1 to spice it up a bit

  • RIP Michele

  • there was credits at the end is this a documentary if it is please tellme which one it is

  • it's the official F1 season review video

  • it was the 1982 formula 1 season official review. it was only released on VHS. its absolutely funny with Clive James commentary. ive got it knocking around in the cupboard somewhere!!

  • HAHAHA I wasnt into F1 back then (I was only 6!) but if this is the official review, I need a copy!

Clive James is hilarious. Did you see his documentary of the 1995 season?

  • no didn't see his documentary of the 1995 season. Clive james also did the 86 review which is also side-splitting as well. Perhaps the 2 funniest videos in history!

  • that track was more of a Karting track than a F1 track

    awsome footage though !

  • i love the commentary!

  • Clive James

  • WHERE IS HE NOW? we need commentators like him around

  • What a great race by Alboreto! But the circuit was really a bad joke.

  • As Murray Walker said on Lap Of The Gods "Why America keeps going to street circuits when they have amazing circuits like Road America is beyond me".

It wasn't those exact words but he hit the nail on the head.

  • Yeah, and Detroit as well. I drove it on rFactor game and it's really an unbelievably bad circuit too, whereas driving at Watkins Glen is great fun.

  • It was closer to "Why Formula 1 keeps going to street circuits when there are perfectly good RACING circuits in the US like Road America is a mystery"

  • It's funny how this was considered a farce when you have circuits like Bahrain which is Vegas with less beer and more sheiks.

  • "The lightweight Toleman weighed only 11 tonnes rather than 12,and spun off as a consequence".Genius

  • It was supposed to be an awful race... thanks for posting this, I just needed to check for myself!

Let's be honest though, whoever thought up the idea of having a grand prix in a car park had issues...

  • very nice pal,

que tal los carros de esos años, lucen como un muñon, jeje

  • thanks

  • Does anyone know if this is from Video/DVD? If so, I'm gonna buy it straight away! Awesome dry comments the man has XD

  • I am pretty sure this is the 1982 official review.

  • this the one in cezers palace car park? if so how f1 has changed, you wud never have burni doing that now, all moved towards asia were we loose all the good circuits to imola, magnacor going that way and silverstone shifted.

  • It's called going in circles and getting very bored.

  • @nascarfan22k yeah f1 is much more interesting than nascar

  • It's called fucking your sister and turning left

  • @NASCARfan22k I don't think anyone needs to argue with obvious troll. He deleted his account.

  • great win for albereto

i beleive watson should hve won that if it wasn't for his about 5 race mishaps in the middle of the season

    nice vid

  • Then - 2 USGP's

    Now - 0

    *cry

  • I hate to make you sadder, but there were actually 3 F1 races in the United States, The USA West in Long Beach, the USA East in Detroit, and the Caesar's Palace GP in Las Vegas. That is why I hate Bernie

  • these Street races were very nice and interesting. I hope someday F1 will return to US. I'm tired watching F1 cars in these new Asian "tilkedroms"

  • Haha I hate Tilke's tracks. Was this a non-championship race?

  • No, this was the last round of the 1982 World Championship. F1 hasn't been back to Las Vegas since. Hence the celebrations of Rosberg's win.

  • @fueldragster Don't forget Watkins Glen throughout the late 60's into the early 80's as well as the Indy 500, yes the "500" was initally a part of the original F1 World Championship in the 50's. I agree with mostly everybody here, The Americas, both North and South America need more GP races, especially two races in the U.S.

  • @cfoster81 I was talking about in the same season

  • @fueldragster If F1 wants to succeed in the United States, they might want to run races where more than six cars get to run, like what happened the last time they came here. They had a stupid argument over tires, and the other 22 teams couldn't run the race because they didn't have reliable tires.

  • @derkommissar1917

Actually they WOULD run the race if they made a small chicane at the end of the straight. However the decision needed to be unanimous, and all teams agreed for this temporary chicane to be built. All teams except FERRARI that is. So thanks to Ferrari (they got away with their only victory that year this way) all the Michelin teams only did the formation lap

It was only 7 teams that used Michelin. 3 used Bridgestone, Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi. 14 cars didn't race therefore.

  • @fueldragster

Well, even if they had 3 races in the USA today I doubt the American public would watch it on tv, heck not even Indycar does get a fraction of the viewers Nascar gets. It seems like a lost market, for anything but possibly California or the East Coast. This new racetrack in Austin, Texas seems like it was "money talks" for Bernie Ecclestone all over again. I hope I am proven wrong.

Also, Mario Andretti was champion in 1978 and still pulled a huge crowd in the early 80's.

  • God that Toleman was an ugly car!

  • hehe

  • Indeed, weighed a ton as well :)

  • Keke Rosberg wins world champion :)

  • The only important thing here is Prost, who would have won the race if it wasn't because of the gearbox.Alain did a superb flying lap on qualifying, let's say an "Ayrton-flat out-style" lap,and got the pole.He wanted to win that day, faster than usual,it was a pity he got 4th,but that was something expected to happen:that year Alain retired in 8 races because of mechanical problems. And Arnoux was even worse,I guess he retired 9 or 10 races due to same reason,Renault wasn't reliable at that time...

  • Renault weren't a lot better the following year either!

  • @lucianoestivill OK, so Prost lost a title in 1982 because his cars kept crapping out on him. But he got one back in 1989 because Senna's cars kept breaking; every time he finished, Senna won. He just didn't finish enough. Prost won four titles in an incredibly competitive era, there's no need to throw in any "what ifs?"

  • @derkommissar1917 Agree mate: a true artist behind the wheel as Alain doesn't need any kind of "what if"..... His achievements and results speak by themselves. What I don't agree is about 1989 season: Ayrton was involved in several mistakes: crash in Brazil, missed 2nd gear (put 4th and stalled engine) in Paul Ricard, a week later spun off in UK, He had a crash with a DSQ driver (Mansell), didn't conect 2nd oil refrigeration system in Italy and blew engine, had crashes in Japan and Adelaide...
