  • Simply heaven

  • She continues to mystify me. After all the years I've listened to her, I still can't get enough.

  • Gracious I love her. Discovered her through Grey's Anatomy and loved her since then! :)

  • Thsi song made me cry T_T

  • This kind of sounds like the song on Shrek..

  • It's only because it is massively reminiscent of Hide and Seek...

  • can it be that the starting of the song is a soundtrack to some movie, it sounds awfully familiar! any idea?

  • @dontmesswithmeeeee in "Oh, The Guilt"

  • I love the strings and the emotion. Reminiscent of Madonna's brilliant Ray of Light album!

  • i love shrooms

  • Thank you Tycho Brahe

  • Beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking music.

  • Now I know why she sounds like Imogen Heap because she works with Guy Sigsworth. But I do like her in this song she kinda sounds like DIDO

  • I know she reminds everyone of Imogen Heap, but she actually reminds me of Bjork.

  • i came across this song while doing chores on my pandora station then it began playing i stop dead and sat down as it transported me to a moment in wich i was in love. im so lost in memory that i dont see who is the artist. the next song plays and snaps me back to earth. another time after a rain fall i walk home and the street light glisen the floor as i had pandora again and kate plays again i get lost in this moment of sorrow and joy all while reembering a love that im glad i expirience : )

  • Such an awesome song.

  • I love this song.

  • she sounds like Imogen Heap and Tracey Thorne

  • i cant get enough of the intro!

  • and now, it's only a matter of time before an EDM producer remixes this. i'm curious what will it be? Trance?House?

  • so...enchanting...

  • I personally love the way she pronounces every single word in this song

  • What a great voice, just beautiful.

  • wow this awakens a very specific longing bitterness in me!

i am excited for her other works! wow

  • 24 people don't understand beautiful music.

  • hey, guys, she's from Oslo, Norway, which means that she has a different accent than we do. Not everybody in the world sounds like stupid americans. That is all. (yep, i'm also american, shut the fuck up)

  • @Spazmologist Mouth! You- go wash it right now. You do NO justice to any artist speaking gutter-snipe! And I agree....many Mercans' are stupid. Keep up the good work!

  • @Spazmologist No need to say "stupid Americans"? Why argue over "nothing"......it's a gorgeous song right?

  • @Spazmologist I wouldn't say Americans are stupid. The majority of us just have this condescending mentality where we believe that our country has to be better in every aspect. It's disturbing to me really. (And I'm an American too. Nebraska to be more exact)

  • Fascinating feeling

  • So so so so......beautiful !!

  • this is the song I've been searching for my whole life, truly an amazing song

  • This is my Competition dance song!

  • from 1:56 to 2:19 makes me want to die...it brings out such unknown emotions I cant understand...

  • @Azalea7645 So Nostalgic!

  • @Azalea7645 i know how u feel that part tof the song is so beautiful but i just cant explain the emotions it brings out

  • I was searching dor a different kaleidoscope song but when i heard this i loved ?????????????

  • wow is tiss lsd

  • She pronouce the world almost like in french maybe that is where she learn it? open a little bit your mind more that in english. If we become frustrated everytime ,YOU , put french world in your song with a terrible pronouciation. No,we find that an english accent and twist in words like «rendez-vous» and «voilà» is cute! We are proud when you try very hard to talk french, we don't judge. Purists are people so straight that we can close their A..H.. with a simple grain of millet.

  • as we melt into wine..... how wonderful it is. Short, yet powerful

  • i love this song including serpentine, kate trully has a beautiful voice=)

  • Is this the girl with kaleidoscope eyes?

  • A video is under suggestions called "LSD Trip" definitely makes sense :D

  • She reminds me a lot of Imogen Heap.

  • @Zombbg4 Wasn't Kate Havnevik one of Immi's support acts during her Ellipse tour?

  • @Zombbg4 me too! i was just thinking of how much she reminded me of imogen. i happen to love this type of music, but its not very common... its like... floaty dreamy with a tiny bit of techno in the back but not really... and a soft voice... its such lovely art <3

  • This is simply beautiful in an eerie way.

  • The beginning instrumental is beautiful, especially at 0:24 onwards :)

  • I didn't find anything wrong with her pronunciation of Kaleidoscope!! Besides, who cares~~ Her music is superb!!

  • ka lahd o scope . that pronounciation i wouldn't know how to explain how i feel about it. its nothing great on its own but its great for the song.

  • Kate's way of saying kaleidoscope is cool. I like accents; they add a little spice to our language, or any language for that matter. :)

  • It's quite simple really. The reason for the difference in pronunciation is because Kate is not a native English speaker. She's from Norway. I don't think anyone will get on someone who doesn't speak the language, as a first language. If you do, then your just missing out on a beautiful song, the message doesn't change because there is a slight "mispronunciation."

  • @KidChernobyl i love the way Kate says Kaleidoscope. I think people need to stop being elitist and accept people's mistakes.

  • power of the mind. the only way to really experience it, is to lose it entirely

reality through a kaleidoscope, fantasy in motion

the beautiful marriage of enlightenment and paranoia in all its wonderful splendour

the shadows are here now, but maybe they just want to play

    if they can catch me

  • for a visual trip, peer into the most extreme kaleidoscope online. it NEVER repeats itself. search Youtube for "Blue Siberia"

  • OMG What a lovely song...

  • That is nice smooth dreamy relaxing synthesizer music and nice sweet singing.

  • absolutely beautiful song. I heard her through Grey's too and now i'm in love!

  • joanaangeles@yahoo. absolutely beautiful song. I heard her through Grey's too and now i'm in love!

  • heard it on grey

  • wow, ever since i had discovered Imogen Heap 6 years ago, ive discovered so many artists through her (and Guy Sigsworth, bless him).

oh my god this song is beautiful. totally faved. might check out some other Kate Havnevik stuff, i love her voice!

  • omg me too!!! through Imogen Heap!

  • Magically blissful.

    The Blue Wizard. J.A.C.M.

    Carpe diem!

  • Maravillosa.

  • Totally reminds me of lost

  • It sort of reminds me but not much. Not like, "Oh my god it sounds like lost." More like after you think about it much. AWESOME SONGGGYYY!!! 5/5

  • Does the beginning remind anyone of Lost?

  • very bjork... nice stuff

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • you cut me out in little stars and place me in the sky. ı lose my sense of time

you know me how troubled ı can be but through your kaleidoscope ı let go.

cuz you show me the world as it could be through your kaleidoscope it's beautiful....

  • it's the beautiful song, the voice of kate is cool

  • I love Kaleidoscops and yours is my heartly-lovliest! This beautyful melodie, this touching words and this wonderful colors does so good, it's like balsam for heart and soul.

Thank you very much for this colorful "light of my day" ;-),

    God speed you

    BeteaMaia

  • ‿

  • She sounds like imogen heap..

  • The word "Kaleidoscope" is from the song "Lucy in the Sky with diamons" from the beatles??

  • The word is in the song...but a kaleidoscope is essentially a little tub with mirrors in it, with tiny pieces of coloured glass/plastic at the end. You look through the top and see a repeated pattern that changes as you turn it.

  • no, its from the dictionary

  • Ok, I only heard that word in that song xD

  • im from minnesota too

  • It's a fresh sound I like it a lot I wonder what these words to a trance song would sound like probably amazing.

  • it's too slow, and sample stretching sucks

  • lol ur face is slow :D

  • Lol the 3 below me must be from minnesota, because I remember her having a loli pop :p

  • i saw her last night aswell i was the kid that gave her the lolipop she has such a pretty voice

  • i saw her last night too, she was amazing. it was the owl city concert as well. ;D

  • she was so amazing

i just saw her last night with owl city and unicorn kid

    A M A Z I N G !

  • She is so amazing live. Saw her last night. Her music puts you in a trance. :3

  • i keep clicking on loads of her random songs, i just discovered her today, and each time i hear a new one i love it instantly. Amazing.

  • Heard this song on an ambient music station on itunes. Loved it immediately. :)

  • This song is amazing. Actually, the whole album is. I listen to it often, and everyone asks who this is... it's beautiful.

  • Lol watched this on shrooms one time and cried hahahaa

  • lol ?

  • i like how she says ka lay duh scope not ka lie duh scope

  • "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."~Voltaire

Lets just agree to disagree on her pronounciation

  • Ótima música... Muito boa MESMO!

    Beautiful song, I love it.

Um Oi do Brasil para vocês!

  • She's Norweigan, so perhaps that's why she doesn't conform to the "correct"/American pronunciation of English

And if you're going to quibble details - English is from England, so by definition all American pronunciation is INcorrect.

  • haha i watch this on acid and i always thinnk the picture on it is changing color and shape and stuff. This is my first time to watch it sober and realize its not :P

  • wat? The way she said Kaleidoscope was okay. It wasn't even that obvious.

and this is coming from a person who worries about pronunciation.

Gosh, it's like the same thing with the words, tomatoe, potatoe and ketchup.

why does their have to be a war over this?

for all we know, maybe she can't pronounce it right. Like the way I can't pronounce golf; it sounds like gulf.

  • Maybe you guys need to just listen to the song and ignore the fact you don't like how that one word is pronounced. =_=

  • @ViviPoop wich word?

  • @ViviPoop That's true. After all, kaleidoscope is a Greek word, and nobody except Greeks has the right pronounciation. So it doesn't matter the way you say it, but what it means... The song is cool by the way ;-)

  • reminds me loads of imogen heaps stuff, but with more strings. pretty cool

  • I gather that ethnocentrism is taking a role in pride and causing people to bicker over differences that shoudn't be dismayed but appreciated for their context and the beauty of their uniqueness.

  • Lol i think its just a smart people thing

*sadly*i've never been known for being super intelligent...and i didnt even notice the pronunciation =D

    sweet song tho

  • LOL @ the argument on her pronunciation. I noticed it, too... and I kind of like it. :)

  • collate of snow. lol

  • When I first heard this song I loved it, then I heard her pronounce Kaleidoscope and I cringe every time she says it, it ruins the song for me.

It's said Kuhl-eye-dough-scope not Ka-lay-do-scope. That subtle difference makes me detest this song.

  • lmfao you are hilarious that little speech infringement would just annoy you

  • Yeah. I guess maybe it's because I'm a teacher. I prefer people to be correct and correct me if I am mistaken. If they're not, or they have absolute apathy towards appearing halfway intelligent (a.k.a. those that insist grammar doesn't have any value online)it drives me up the wall.

Obviously Kate is intelligent; can't argue with that. I just wish she'd said the word correctly so I could really enjoy this song and not complain to my boyfriend about it.

  • I know what you mean.

Little grammar inconsistencies like that drive the ldanf;dkld'fj out of me.

  • lol i think thats because shes foreign and she has an accent

  • I understand the accent bit, and most of her words are quite charming with the accent, but when it's the primary word of the song, the NAME of the song, particular care should be taken to make it sound correct ... in my opinion anyway. :)

  • yes, but still, its not like she can help it. i can see where you're coming from, but some people with accents can't help their pronunciation of some words. =)

  • For being a teacher maybe you could exercise a bit of tolerance for another person's culture and subtle differences in their speech. Quite possibly the pronunciation that she uses for the word is the only pronunciation that she has ever known, being from Norway. Sometimes we Americans can be a bit too ignorant to the fact that English is not the only language and our pronunciations of words are not the only ones even where English is spoken. Pronunciation even differs here. Like the word road.

  • I recognize subtle differences in many people's ways of speaking, and I speak English and French. I'm aware that words in English are often also pronounced differently due to region or what not. Doesn't change the fact that this one irritates me. But thanks for your two cents. ;) Southern accents do the same. I don't hate southerners, I don't hate Kate, the accents just make me cringe a bit. My boyfriend hates how I say 'onion'. To each their own. :)

  • everyone is entitled to their own opinion. that's a great thing about america. quit bashing america. if you don't like your country, LEAVE.

btw, there is a "true pronunciation." look it up in the dictionary.

i like her accent; it's cute.

but, seriously, quit bashing americans. if you don't like them, leave.

  • The beautiful thing about America is that all Americans are entitled to say and do anything including criticize other fellow Americans and that right to do so was secured by people who have fought for this country like myself so before you feel the need to take away a fellow Americans unalienable right of freedom of speech you should probably check yourself as to not make an ass out of yourself.

  • I don't mean to harp on this but what exactly is "correct" pronunciation anyway? In the northeast US the pronunciation of the word quarter is different than that of the same word in California which is also different in the state of Tennessee, which is different from places in Canada. Who is right and which pronunciation is "correct"? Ask someone from each mentioned region and you will undoubtedly receive differing answers. Again not trying to argue but "correct" pronunciation is open to debate.

  • If you look up pronunciation guides online, most of them will have it spelled out a way contrary to the way she says it. Is there something wrong with that? No. It just makes me cringe. I love her voice, but this song drives me up the wall ;)

  • doesnt really bother me, to be honest, but i understand where your coming from, my really smart friend found it annoying tooo....

  • Some words some different when sung, especially depending on the melody. This skewed pronounciation may be necessary to keep the melody together. If you pay close attention, you will hear words mispronounced in song after song for this reason, and phrases intentionally said gramatically incorrect because it is catchier that way...

  • search for "Blue Siberia" on youtube

why? peer into a striking kaleidoscope, watch it's forever changing colors to a song by the instrumental band star fk radium
